Disney- If you are reading this....!

I agree that as my boys get older Disney is losing more of my $ to other parks. This year we're spending time at Universal.

My boys would love a Phineas and Ferb character meal. Star wars would be a big hit too.

I'm 42 years old and I'll pay $45 for eggs and sausage if they have a Jack Sparrow look-alike hanging around. ;)
I do agree they need to change it up a bit. I don't have any girls, and my 12 yo son won't do breakfast with Winnie anymore. He would be first in line for Star Wars though.

My 2 and a half year old DD would love a toy story character meal (I'm sure - she doesn't even know / understand that WDW or character meals exist yet!!)
She adores Buzz and Woody and we currently watch "new Buzz and Woody" TS3 at least once a week!! :happytv:

Claire :)

We have 2 girls that are still in the princess stage, but I also see a glaring lack of options for families with boys. I think a Toy Story character meal would be a perfect option. Families with girls would still love it, as would families with boys. It would also be a good solution for families with both. I know of a few familes where mom takes the little girl to Askerhus while dad and the son get a brat over in Germany. Parents don't see the value in having their son sit through an overpriced meal that he would rather not be at. It's kind of sad, because Dad misses out on seeing his little girl light up as she talks to the princesses. I think a pirate or even Star Wars meal would overall have the same effect as the princess meals. Dad would take the boys, while Mom and the girls found something else to do. If a Toy Story meal were available, the families with boys would finally have an option, and so would the families with both gender kids. They would get the added bonus of families like us that would go to the Toy Story meal, and still hit up a princess meal as usual.

I dont think parents spend more on there princess then someone could spend on there son...

DS loves Toy Story...I shelled out more the $50 a piece for woody, buzz, jesse, bullseye...and the entire cast. Not to mention a ton of other toystore games and toys...

And dont even get my started and ALL the CARS stuff we HAVE to have...not only are the cars $5 each but all the play sets that are $20-$50 each...and lets not get into the fact that they have about 10 different lighting mcqueens...I know we have over 50 cars (probably way more but the case we have holds 50 and it is full and then some in other places)...so 50x$5 each=$250 plus all the sets...

I would love to take DS to a Jake dinner or Toy Story...we probably will only do 2 or 3 sitdowns because they just dont interest me.

I agree that it's a great idea.

I don't see why Disney wouldn't be interested. Yes - parents are willing to spend $$$ on Princess things. But doing something like this wouldn't take away from that. It's an opportunity for additional revenue. I mean, it's not like anyone is proposing filling CRT with pirates instead :)

Especially with the dining plan, the restaurants are all in high demand. It doesn't seem like it would be that large an expense to refurb one of the existing restaurants, offer characters and up the price.

eta: Hollywood & Vine could be an option. I believe they have no characters at dinner currently. I know they did characters at LTT for a short time, they could do that again (though it doesn't really fit with the theming.) They could even do something with the Tomorrowland Terrace space or Tortuga Tavern (these would probably involve more up-front expense.) Diamond Horseshoe Reveue could be another option.

I agree about needing more stuff for boys. I have a princess who enjoys all of the princess character meals and her brothers are more than happy to go along with her but they are still young. All three of my kids would enjoy TS, Pirates, Phineas & Ferb, etc.

That being said, we spend an equal amount on the kids when we are at Disney. So they are not getting more money out of us for "princess" stuff. I buy the princess dresses before we go so I don't have to pay park prices and have not done BBB or Pirates League because I think it is too expensive. My boys have an easier time picking out their souveniors when we are there because there is plenty to choose from in a good price range. I am constantly telling my daughter to pick out something else because it seems like everything she touches is way overpriced.

I don't understand why the Playhouse Disney character meal hasn't been updated. I haven't seen JoJo's Circus in at least 5 years. Is it still on tv? They should put some current Playhouse Disney shows in that character meal. Jake and the Neverland Pirates would be great!

I would love more variety in the character meals. I agree that Toy Story, Star Wars, or Pirates (Sparrow or Hook versions) would be great. My husband would love to go to a Toy Story dinner, and I know my brother would happily bring his 5yo princess to a Star Wars meal...and she'd probably love it.

I agree the toy story characters would be such a fun character meal! They could even add Jessie for the girls!

In the early, middle 90's there was a character meal with Peter Pan, Hook and Smee, Wendy etc. I think it was at the Contemporary where 1900 Park Fare is now.

There also used to be an Aladdin meal with Jafar, Genie, Jasmine and Aladin. It was in MGM.

Tangled was originally Rapunzel and they changed the entire movie to appeal to boys and now you can't even meet Flynn Rider at the parks! You can still meet Aladdin and he is always so much fun. I am sorry we never got a chance to meet Flynn Rider.

I really don't understand why they don't offer more for the boys.

I'm taking some friends along with their 7 year old son and it's been a challenge since he doesn't like Mickey:( He likes BuzzLightyear and the other characters you mentioned. I really want to do a character meal too!

I'd love a Star Wars meal and I'm a adult woman! They could do so many of those characters w/o really needing someone to look like the character...Vader, Boba Fett, etc. Seems like a winner. My little girl would love a Toy Store meal. That's such a popular series, I'm actually surprised they haven't done that.

I've thought for years they should repupose Sci-Fi Dine-In to a Cars themed restaurant. Imagine sitting in a Mater truck that interacted with you and the other cars while you ate...what little boy wouldn't adore that?

oh a Cars themed drive in would be a ton of fun.

My son is 17 and daughter 14, so although we still do character meals it really isn't about the characters anymore. However I have been wishing and wanting for years to dine with Buzz, Woody and the Gang. While this definately is something that boys would prefer more than say princesses, I know as an adult these are the Disney characters I would most like to dine with. Toy Story is such a successful franchise I would have to think a character meal would be very profitble. I can see Pirates do very good also. It would be nice to have some more choices.

And if you add Jessie in with the Toy Story gentleman, you have a HUGE hit with my little princess ;)

JoJo and Goliath were replaced by Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso back in Oct ;).

So, eventually they update... it just takes a few years after a show goes off the air to do it :p

Here's another vote for all the above. Our DD7 would attend a princess meal one day then would love to dress up as a pirate the next day. There is a girl pirate on Jake and the gang, so Disney is definitely missing out on an opportunity with both boys and girls. On an upcoming trip we're paying out of pocket for 2 TS meals, and we'd pay for a 3rd if it was a pirate meal.

My girls are 12 and 8 and are way past the princess stage. We still eat breakfast with Pooh and friends every trip, but our character meals are getting fewer and fewer each time. While DD8 might enjoy breakfast with the fairies for another year or two, Phineas and Ferb would be a hit with both of my girls. Last trip, we did Crystal Palace and O'Hana - not a princess in sight! :goodvibes

A Star Wars meal wouldn't appeal to either of my kids, but given the popularity of Star Wars weekends, it would appeal to many!

I'd like to see a Pixar meal - Toy Story, Dug from Up, etc. I'd like to meet the villains - Hook, Jafar, Maleficent - but it would probably result in upset little kids. I'd also like to see more of the classic characters - Pongo and Perdita, Baloo, Lady and Tramp. Timon and Pumbaa would be great at a character meal!

I think Jake and the Neverland pirates would be a great addition to Hollywood and Vine, but I'd love to see Disney offer something for the kids who have outgrown Disney Junior and the princesses, like Phineas and Ferb, the villains, or the classic characters.
