Disney Housekeeping staff "tricks"

at the POP this past week mousekeeping did funny things with the stuffed animals every day - usually tied the drapes and had them resting in there - it was so cute to walk in front of all the rooms on our way back from the parks and see all the different arrangements

We just got back from 7 nights at the WL, and our mousekeeper, both arranged the kids stuffed animals and made towel animals every day (expect the one day she had off) She was so sweet, and always asked the kids how they like their surprises. I stopped on my way out and told the manager how great she was, and also received a postcard from the WL requesting I complete an online survery about our stay, and I mentioned her by name again and how great she was, she really made our stay more magical!! :goodvibes

At GF the mousekeeper took the Mickey and positioned him differently every night. On the last night they stuck him to the window with sun glasses on. It was great to see it.

If you get a towel animal, are they to keep to take home, or do you leave them in your room so they can pick them up the next day and "recycle" them for other families? :confused3

The best one we ever had happen was at the GF. We had left a stuffed Pluto behind on a chair. When we returned, Pluto was on the floor by one bed posed to be asleep. There was toilet paper wrapped around him with a toilet paper trail leading all the way back into the bathroom still connected to the roll! Loved that one.

When we stayed at The Polynesian we received some....

and once at the GF, but that's the lot. Like others have said, don't go expecting them and then they will be a wonderful added sprinkle of magic for your trip! :wizard:

If you want to "guarantee" something, why not purchase a gift basket or something from the Disney Florist :)

You are supposed to leave them in the room, the towels are considered hotel property.

Try leaving a Ben Franklin in the shape of an animal for housekeeping and see what happens...... :confused3

At POFQ in May we always had our girls' stuffed animals arranged in cute ways, got extra toiletries when it was obvious I was stashing them ( ;), and the second day I asked for extra towels in a row we got about 25!!!! Mousekeeping did a great job with our room all week and yes we did tip daily, and would no matter what.

An above poster mentioned that it's better not to tell your kids about towel animals in advance and I agree...I did it and DD's 9 and 11 were a little disappointed even though we had an awesome trip and of course it didn't put a serious damper on things!

have fun!

we stayed at the poly for 2 nights back in Nov 2003 and came home one night to find a piglet (that was not ours) on the bed along with my daughters favorite blanket shaped, i think, into a pigs head. It was a very nice surprise to my daughter! She loved it!

Stayed at WL and Poly this past trip. Had towel animals at WL -

At the Poly, Mousekeeping made us a "toothbrush holder" after our first night that we used to hold them the rest of our stay....very cute.

When the kids were little and we travelled with toys, they were often arranged, but not anymore....no little kids=no toys anymore :sad2:

We got animals arranged at CSR.........it was very cute, and we mentioned how nice it was to the front desk..................nothing at POR..............got a towel snowman last Christmas at WL.

We always tip daily, though not "big"........just normal..............

After 28 times in Disney Resorts I stopped counting. The only time that anything was done was stuffed animals was when we were on the Grand Plan and indirectly paid for them.

Our firs trip we had towel bunnies at the CBR. We had them at the WL every day! It was so fun to come back and see what our talented mousekeeper did. We had huge wildebeest, gators, monkeys, a towel pool with our stuffed animals going down a towel slide, animals holding remotes, and reading books. We had so many that it filled up the daybed at the end of the week. At the Poly we had towel animals on our first trip there only. There were monkeys swinging from leis hanging from the canopy, angels in the bathroom, another gator, and an elephant and more. Since then we have stayed at the Poly 4 more times and haven't seen one towel animal or anything cute happening with the stuffed animals in the room. I have to admit at first DD was disappointed since she pretty much had always been surprised with them on our other trips. To make it fun for her I'd let her arrange her own animals in cute positions and them holding the tip money! The mousekeepers we have had have thought this was so funny. They would stop us in the hall and thank us for the way we gave them their tip. Now DD, 6, looks forward to brightening their day instead of expecting it herself. I'd still like a towel animal though! LOL!
