In my recollection, they have far more characters and entertainment stops after the half-marathon mark. Hopefully with the separate days for the events and the revised route, we'll get more next year.JRoglitz said:I was thinking that too. I'm hoping they will have more entertainment and characters along the route to keep us going.

It was one of my favourite parts of the race. The new route sounds very boring. I understand why they are trying to utilize the same finish area for both 1/2 and full, but I don't think I would feel as much excitement. Just MHO.
Guess I'll have to placate myself with getting go to up/down/through MK ....
chimera said:'Tis a bummer. Those pictures Lily has of World Showcase all lit up early in the am were neat. Well...we'll have to do something really fun to make up for it. Anyone tried skipping...how 'bout cartwheels...running backward? That'd make that area between the parks more interesting![]()

I'm starting to do a little jogging -- I've been a walker for years -- we walk 3 miles almost every night. I'm jogging at home, which has scared the daylights out of my cat (though he's used to it now!) At home, I walk 5 minutes, jog 5 minutes, walk 5 minutes. I upped my jog time to 6 minutes. Will try to add minutes on as the months progress (and get to a track or outside because I sure get dizzy going around the kitchen table, into the bedroom, back out around the kitchen table!!!)![]()

Believe it or not, there is an actual CLUB made up of people who do a marathon in every state... appropriately named the 50 States Marathon Club!! I think they're nuts, if you ask me, but if you love the marathon distance, it's definitely a wonderful goal to strive for!maryliz said:Try reading the shirts of others around you! We passed one lady whose shirt said "completed marthons in every state and D.C.". She was probably in her 50's, so we asked when she started doing marathons ... 1991. I found that incredibly impressive!
When I did the full marathon route on 2003 and 2004 (in 2004, I started in the full queue, but I finished at the half), I was kind of disappointed with the start route for the half... until I discovered that the great path through World Showcase gave me a clear view of the Illuminations globe in the middle of the lake! There I am, in a mass of people but alone, going, "Ohmigod, the GLOBE is out and it's beautiful!"TammyNC said:Oh, I loved the World Showcase area that we walked through. That was really nice!
That said, running past Spaceship Earth is pretty cool stuff. I wouldn't write it off. I'm assuming we'll run past it next year if our finish is at the same location as the full finish line.
By the way, I registered me and hubby this weekend. We're committed for the half again. Yay!
