Disney Golf Carts or Not?

We are going to stay in the cabins in November and would like a golf cart for our stay (I have 2 young kids). My question is: is it better to go with Disney for renting or use someone else such as Kenny? What are the pros/cons? I know that Kenny is cheaper, but are you paying for some added convenience by renting on-site? Thanks for helping me understand my options a little better. It will be our first time at Fort Wilderness.

There may be a smidgen of convenience renting on site (Disney"s),,BUT is that smidgen worth it to you to pay a third $$ more for the convenience ? Thats up to you.
Personally, I"d go with Kenny.
Or buy your own golf cart and bring it with you, :thumbsup2

If you need a cart for more than a couple of days, I'd definitely go with Kenny. Now that Disney moved their cart rental stuff out by the Outpost, it really isn't any more convenient to rent from them than Kenny (who will deliver to the overflow lot near Outpost). Kenny's service is dynamite and his prices can't be beat. (and no, I'm not a paid sponsor :lmao:)

We rented 4 carts from him in November - 1 for us for 3 weeks, and the others for friends that were there. He was very flexible about pickup/delivery, and we all saved a TON of money - in our case almost $1000! Our friends paid less than HALF of what they paid for their Disney cart rentals the year before.

As for service...
The cart we first got was pretty sluggish so we called Kenny on our way to the parks on the bus one day. The cart was parked out by the bus stop and while we were at the parks, Kenny came and swapped it out for us so the new one was waiting when we got back. :thumbsup2

Oh, other perk is that Kenny's carts all come with full rain shield cover thingys - Disney carts do not.

Uh, the answer is "NOT".

On the Disney cart that is. I rented from Kenny at Thanksgiving and he was great. One thing to be aware of is that Kenny charges your credit card when you make the reservation, not when he drops off your cart. So your charge shows up early. I was not aware of that and everything worked out fine, I was just surprised at that. And he is an excellant value compared to Disney rentals.

Kenny is the tops when it comes to cart rentals and most likely I will never rent from Disney again.

However, I will say this. Back in May (Memorial Day) our trip was less than Kenny's minimum (which is 5 days), so we did rent from Disney. That entire weekend was pretty much solid rain from the time we arrived till the time we left!!

On the day before we were due to leave, we packed everything up ready to pull out the next morning. Well since everything was packed up, we had no shelter from the rain, and just sitting in my tiny camper all night was not gonna be fun, sooooo we decided about 10pm that night that we would hit the road. We dropped the cart at the late night dropoff, ran in the office and finalized our bill and drove north for a couple of hours and got a hotel.

If we had been renting from Kenny that wouldn't have been possible, as we would not have asked him to come out and get the cart that late at night. (Although knowing Kenny, he might have suggested a place where we could leave it.)

So, I guess my situation above is about the only convenience a Disney cart would be.

::yes::

I don't know if Kenny was being extra nice to us because we rented 4 carts from him, but we called him the day before we were leaving to ask if it might be possible for us to leave our cart parked by the bus stop the morning we checked out so that we'd have it one last night. No problemo! We dropped it off on our way out and he picked it up later in the day.

Not sure if he can always do this, but Kenny definitely is a guy that aims to please. :thumbsup2

I say that rarely do you find a business that gives the customer service that Kenny does. His cart are top notch and he was so easy to deal with. Plus his prices wow! I think I could go on and on! I would not think, I would rent from Disney.

If it hadn't been for this forum, I'd not have heard about Kenny. I wrote him an e-mail last night requesting a cart for Spring Break. I hope to hear back soon. :thumbsup2

I was thinking about Disney carts the other day and how much if you divided the actual time used for each rental would be. Most people who rent them for the duration of their stay probably have very little hours on the unit.

Totally agree with Cindy! We are big fans of Kenny! He gives amazing customer service. The first time we rented from him, we didn't get a chance to meet him, but we met one of his employees, Omar. Omar is a sweet kid, who also gave great service (if you do a search you can probably find the post where I talked about what he did for us). The next time we went down there, we rented from Kenny again and finally got to meet him when we picked up the cart. One day while driving from the Settlement, two carts went driving down the road. One of the drivers slowed down as he saw me coming up the trail and started waving. I was wondering who it could be and surprisingly it was Omar...he remembered me from the trip a few months before. Until we rented from Kenny, we had been shopping for a golf cart, but we have been so happy with Kenny that we will just continue to rent from him instead.

I agree Holly. I met Omar and Kenny and they both gave exceptional customer service!

Kenny Kenny Kenny does anybody need to say more! He has the best service, and price.... We have 2 carts and still ended up renting one from Kenny just so we didn't have to tow one of them down. Kenny is a great guy.

Not to sound like broken record..... but Kenny is great. He really does his best to please his clients. In our case: last rental at Xmas, he was running a little late on the scheduled delivery, so when we talked he asked for our site # and delivered at our door step. We were still there when he arrived, and we drove him back on the cart, to the parking lot. Have we not been there, he had planned to take the bus back to the outpost. Not many businesses would go this length for a costumer. 2 thumbs up.

If Kenny gets this much love from his wife, he must be one happy man ! :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

OP is going to start to think that Kenny has 30 screen names on the DIS and is writing all these glowing reviews himself! :lmao:

Hello! I am brand new to this board, camping at FW for the second year in a row. I have read all of your remarks about Kenny...we are going next month. Could someone give me contact information? He seems like a great guy with a great deal. TIA

I would pm one of the people posting rave reviews...I am sure they would give you the information!

I wonder if Kenny is on vacation? I emailed him on the 12th and haven't heard back. I'll try calling him in the morning.
