Disney Gives Us the Warm Fuzzies - Take Two. TRIP REPORT HAS BEGUN! 1/20 Pg. 92

Ho my goodness, I have not been on here in forever and I have missed a ton. Your about to go to Disney and I almost missed the entire thing. Lets just say life has been a little crazy for me the last several months. I am so excited for you-I need a little Disney in my life!!!

Now I am going to spend my day off tomorrow catching up on this thread!!

Hey You! I was just thinking about you today. There are links in the first post if you want to catch up that way!

How about a second update for New Year's Eve?!

I went to the doctor's today and lost another 2.6lbs! The grand total is 52.6lbs now.

My weight loss has slowed down, I haven't been doing the best I can be. I'm going to focus on smaller goals from now on and hopefully that will help. :thumbsup2

I feel like I’ve really been slacking in terms of updates that don’t have to do with the food countdown. It’s just such a busy time of year, so I apologize for the lack of “substance.” You've been slacking, girl you have got this PTR and TR thing down...now me on the other hand I need to take some pointers from you!!!!!

I am mentally ready to go on this trip but actually being packed and ready to go….well not so much. LOL I'm pulling a C on this trip I'll pack the night before LOL!!!

I’ve had a physical ailment that I’ve hesitated to tell you about. I don’t want to seem like I’m always broken in some way after the great blister debacle of ’09. BAH!!! You are not always broken!!!!!! It’s my knee. Yes, my knee. I’ve always had bad knees, ever since I was little. I was the only 3rd grader who would kneel down in gym class and have the snap crackle pop effect in my knees. I also hurt my right knee about 4 years ago and had to be on crutches for a few weeks, I pulled something in it. I can’t remember what but it usually isn’t bad. They are occasionally sore but nothing really bad…until a few weeks ago. It’s my right knee. It does this lovely thing where I’ll be walking and then it will just buckle, buckle so much that I almost fall. It’s not a pleasant feeling at all. I bought myself a brace and it does help when I’m wearing it, if it does buckle it doesn’t hurt as much and I don’t stumble as much either. I’m terrified I’m going to fall at Disney and get all scraped up from the pavement. So the brace is working, except it has given me a rash in the back of my knee. OY! Can’t I catch a break? So I’m working on getting the rash to go away, I think I’ll have to wrap my knee before I put on the brace so it’s not irritated. I really want an injury free Disney trip. I really do. I do not want a repeat of being miserable like I was in May. I’m still exercising (well, as much as I exercise i.e. not often) and not babying the knee because it must be working properly at Disney so it gets no rest. Gotta keep moving!

Plus I’m freaked out about blisters. I’ve got a complete arsenal to combat them but I’m still worried. I do NOT want to deal with that again. I wear my sneakers out unless I’m at work. They are broken in for sure. I’m just worried. Between you and me and our early prevention methods blisters will NOT be a worry at all on this trip you can COUNT on that!

I did figure out the Magical Express Luggage dilemma that I’ve been having in my head. The way ME works when your flight lands after 10PM is that they will bring you to your resort but you are responsible for your luggage. My flight lands at 10PM, so I’m assuming it’s going to land too late. The nice Disney CM on the phone said I could just put the tags on and then Disney wouldn’t pick up the luggage if I landed after 10PM but I don’t like that logic. I’m worried my luggage will go to some no man’s land at the airport where luggage goes after 10PM. So I’m going to keep the tags off and just go pick up my luggage myself. I’m a little worried about how long it’s going to take but I don’t have any other choice.
I have to agree with this decision...I'm hugely paranoid about my luggage and flying so it would be a huge thing for me to have to leave my luggage in the hands of others especially when I'm not sure what exactly will happen to it!!! I have complete faith in you, you'll handle MCI like a pro!!!

So what do I do when I’m worried and a teeny bit stressed?

Make a list of course!

LL’s To Do List:
*Pack
I’m still not sure how many bags I’m taking. I always overpack so I’m trying not to do that this time around.
*Organize outfits
I want to pack in a way where I can just pull out outfits instead of always trying to decide what I’m going to wear in the morning. I think I might make a little list of the outfits for which day and put that in my suitcase.
*Pack Jen’s Christmas Presents
We decided to exchange presents in person instead of mailing them to each other. I’m excited for this! I can’t wait to see her reaction. Muhahaha!
*Print out Itinerary & Confirmation #’s.
*Buy Clif Bars

I really don’t think I’m going to need this but I want to have them on hand in case I do.
*Pick up a Book or Two.
I like to have at least one book to bring with me for the plane. I usually go through two per trip.
*Make a list of things to be bought
I actually think I’m pretty well set on toiletries but a final check doesn’t hurt.

I felt like I had 100 things to do but I guess I don’t….hmmmm. I guess the biggest thing is to pack.

Here’s what I have for my packing list.

Packing List:
*Camera
*Memory Card - 2
*Battery Charger
*2 sets of spare batteries
*5 Clif Bars

:hug:I'm sorry about you knee!!! Definitely try to give it it's needed rest between now and the trip!!!!

Yipppeee for the weight lose!!! Your doing such a good job!!!! It's absolutely amazing to me!!!!!!! Congrats and lots of :hug::hug:

I think early prevention is the key to the blister fight! Try not to stress about it!!!

Your packing list looks great!!! I've been obsessing about the weather and going to accuweather like 45 times a day and looking at the beginning of our trip. It's looking COOL! UGH! I'm talking low 60's, I was hoping for mid 70's! I guess a lot can change between now and then though!

I'm probably going to post my itinerary in my TR/PTR in the today or tomorrow. If you have moment take a gander and we'll try to set up a little meet!

 LL

I totally understand. When we went in 07, I was miserable. My feet hurt so bad I literally didn't want to go in the parks. I had bought a new pair of tennis shoes, with ARCH support. Well that's all well and good if you break them in before you go on vacation.

Never EVER had foot pain like that trip. I ended up wearing flip flops and bought a pair of pink Mickey crocs to get through the trip. But the damage had been done. It was like shin splints in my arches. Weird.

So our trip in Jan 09 I was so excited. I had lost some weight, and had comfy broken in tennis shoes and crocs as a back up, and thought I'd be fine. More energy, less weight on my feet, better shoes that I knew were comfy and broken in.

Until I hit the ME area, where I deposited my mom, and boys and went to stand in line to get on the bus. And promptly turned around and tripped over a suitcase and fell in the big middle of the airport. I mean, I went airborn.

Landing on my right knee, and hurt my left foot somehow. I spent the majority of the trip, double limping. Thankfully my mom had brought her knee brace and it helped. But the injuries definitely slowed me down. (which may not have been a bad thing with two grandmom's and a 1 yr old :rolleyes1)

This trip I'm worrried. I've gained some of the weight back.... so I'm worried about my energy level and feet pain. I mean I'm not 100% sure it was all my shoes in 07. AND I am checking my stupid luggage straight through to AKL. Not taking any chances on tripping over anything! :rotfl: Seriously, to say I'm gonna watch my step is an understatement. I do not want any injuries this trip!!!

Your packing list looks fabulous! I hate that feeling where you think you're forgetting something. I have a running 'sticky note' on my desktop on my laptop that has a list that I add random stuff to as I read through PTRs and TR. Thanks to your update, I just called my mom and asked to borrow her knee brace again. The knee I injuried in Disney acts up occasionally.

 for a park hopper!!! Let me know if you decide to add one and we'll totally figure out a place to meet on the 14th in Epcot!!! :yay:

I'm doing the same thing!!!! The first day I checked it was 66 high and rainy!!! So I'm just thankful that it's swung back around to sunny days at least.

Last year it was highs in the 50s lows in the 30s and 20s! Record lows last year for our January trip. :scared1:

Excuse me!?

Is this FLORIDA?!

:rotfl2:

I'm actually kinda excited about the highs in the 60s. I love wearing Disney hoodies!!!! :yay:

LOVE the carrot cake cookie! I need to have one of those!

I  park hoppers. We used them extensively in '04 with the 2 little ones...really helped us hit F&W almost every night for dinner :rotfl:

We didn't use them AS much in Feb but they were still really really worth it. It gave us the flexibility to just ditch a park and go elsewhere if it was too crowded and meant we didn't have to tie dinner to the park of the day if we were eating in the park.

CONGRATS on the extra weight loss! :cool1:

But OW your knee!!!!!

What does the doctor say about the knee?

One thing on the blisters, pack good socks, socks can make all the difference, whether they chafe or not....

I have read the entire post and all I can think about is your KNEE!
If it's bothering you just get an ECV. Enough said.

Ahh, LL! It is better to be prepared than regret not having your brace and such. Perhaps Body Glide will help with the rash behind your knee? Just a thought. If it makes you feel any better--I have bad knees too. My knee caps do not sit actually in my knees, they sit to the side on top of my knee "bone" (I know there is a more technical name for it but I am forgetting it at the moment). I am planning on travel with both knee braces and a immobilizer in case it decides to pop out while I am there.

We can all wish a bit of pixie dust your way to help your knees and feet cooperate! :wizard: I think it is something we all need!

Ooohhh hope your knee decides to do the right thing and feel better! :goodvibes
Don't forget your Montrails just in case....they will be super comfortable and promise to be blister free! ;)
Carrot cake cookie looks so yummy....love cream cheese frosting! :woohoo:
I would say go for the park hoppers.
I would also leave the ME tags off the luggage. I would just be paranoid! ::yes::
:goodvibesHappy New Year Leslie!! :goodvibes
Oh yes and I loved the smileys! :lmao:

Tracy

We loved our PH-used them almost daily.
YAY for the wieght loss
Sorry about the knee-do what it takes to have it in good sha[e for the trip
Try not to worry about the blisters
Great packing list

Hey LL :) Sounds like the park hoppers are sounding better! I'm glad you at least had some weight loss at your Dr's appt, hopefully that brightened your day some, the holidays are just so hard. As for the knee, check a local med supply place, they make the stockinette stuff to go under casts and stuff, maybe you could find some of that to use? At least then it would be something you can slip off and on, and would be lightweight and breathable. If all else fails you could always hit a thrift a thrift store, buy a men's xxl tee and cut the sleeves off to slip up under the brace..just trying to think of things that would be cooler under the brace....

Oh, no -- I hope your knee gets better soon!

Hurray for another couple of pounds! Every bit counts!!!

Your to-do list definitely looks manageable!!! :thumbsup2

LL - hope the knee holds up.* I have had weird things happen like that with my knees as well.* When I was young and skating, I wore out the cartilige and now have arthritis starting.* I feel your pain.* Just be prepared and I agree with Wigd - get an ecv if you need to!!I'm with CP on the cookies.* I don't mind carrot cake, but the Mickey shaped shortbread would be so good with coffee!!Your packing list looks great.* Did you need gum?? I know lots of people forget it and they can't buy it there!Oh, and HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! :wizard:

Congrats on the weight loss :yay:

I hope you're feeling better soon. And I agree with Anita. If your knee hurts, get an ECV.

I love your idea about writing down your outfits for each day.

Hurrah for the weight loss! So sorry about the knee! I hope that clears up. But you and Jen can handle any adversity that comes your way. Jen, in her magic bag, had this magic blister fixer upper thing that worked wonders for me in September! :thumbsup2

:lmao: to Jen saying she's pulling a C and packing at the last minute. I can't say I recommend my methodology to anyone. It's a bit stressful. :rolleyes1

:woohoo: to park hoppers and to being so organized for your trip. I've forgotten have you told us if you'll be tweeting? It's so fun to follow along "live."

Happy New Year!!

Can't believe your trip is in a few WEEKS:thumbsup2

Great lists.

Sorry about the knee. Don't let anything detract from the fun the 2 of you are going to have. Be honest with yourself and Jen on the trip if you are in pain. Don't overdo it.

I would say have a contingent plan IF you have continued problems. Ask for a first floor room or one near elevators. Request a room closer to bus stops and/or Food Court/Guest Services. Buy an extra book or two if too much touring affects your knee. Hangout at the resort more. Enjoy being at the POFQ. I say if you go down hoping for the best, but prepared for the possibility of issues, then you'll be good to go....

Ok that Carrot Cake cookie is so much a must on our next trip...I meant to get one at the studios...and I forgot...(I'm all about Cream Cheese frosting...:thumbsup2)

I love that you did a test drive on the corn dogs...too cute...only you LL take your Disney experiences that seriously and that's what we love about you...

Congrats on the weight loss...that's awesome...it does slow as you move along...focus on the fact that it is going down...not the speed...

I am so sorry about your knee......it will work out one way or another...and if you have to use the chair ...so what? You'll be in Disney...

and you'll be there fairly soon...;)

:hug:I'm sorry about you knee!!! Definitely try to give it it's needed rest between now and the trip!!!!

My knee actually feels way better when I'm wearing the brace so I'm not completely worried about it. I just need this rash to GO AWAY.

I have only looked at the weather once. I'm not going to worry about it. I can't change it. I survived that horribly rainy trip in May, I can survive January. :rotfl2:

what are Clif Bars?
Clif bars are a energy bar type thing. They are really good, they come in tons of flavors. We always have some in the house if we want something on the sweeter side.

 LL

Oh my goodness! You totally sound like me with your Disney injuries! Eeeek! Everything will work out for the both of us, I am sure. Slow and steady wins the Disney race. :rotfl2:
