Disney Gives Us the Warm Fuzzies - Take Two. TRIP REPORT HAS BEGUN! 1/20 Pg. 92

LOVE the carrot cake cookie! I need to have one of those!

I  park hoppers. We used them extensively in '04 with the 2 little ones...really helped us hit F&W almost every night for dinner :rotfl:

We didn't use them AS much in Feb but they were still really really worth it. It gave us the flexibility to just ditch a park and go elsewhere if it was too crowded and meant we didn't have to tie dinner to the park of the day if we were eating in the park.

CONGRATS on the extra weight loss! :cool1:

But OW your knee!!!!!

What does the doctor say about the knee?

One thing on the blisters, pack good socks, socks can make all the difference, whether they chafe or not....
I didn't even ask the doctor about my knee, the doctor I go see is the surgeon and nutritionist from my surgery so they don't really do that but my nutritionist thinks I should go get it looked at. I might this week. I just have a feeling they are going to tell me they can't do much for it, you know?

I have stocked up on good socks, I need to get one more pack and I'll be good to go and have extras if I want to change them halfway through the day after a break. :thumbsup2

I have read the entire post and all I can think about is your KNEE!
If it's bothering you just get an ECV. Enough said.
I know, that is the plan. I will not let myself be miserable like I did in May.

Ahh, LL! It is better to be prepared than regret not having your brace and such. Perhaps Body Glide will help with the rash behind your knee? Just a thought. If it makes you feel any better--I have bad knees too. My knee caps do not sit actually in my knees, they sit to the side on top of my knee "bone" (I know there is a more technical name for it but I am forgetting it at the moment). I am planning on travel with both knee braces and a immobilizer in case it decides to pop out while I am there.

We can all wish a bit of pixie dust your way to help your knees and feet cooperate! :wizard: I think it is something we all need!
I'm thankful that the brace does make it feel better. At least I know that will help while I'm down there. :goodvibes

Ooohhh hope your knee decides to do the right thing and feel better! :goodvibes
Don't forget your Montrails just in case....they will be super comfortable and promise to be blister free! ;)
Carrot cake cookie looks so yummy....love cream cheese frosting! :woohoo:
I would say go for the park hoppers.
I would also leave the ME tags off the luggage. I would just be paranoid! ::yes::
:goodvibesHappy New Year Leslie!! :goodvibes
Oh yes and I loved the smileys! :lmao:

Tracy
You know, I wasn't even planning on bringing my montrails. I think it might be too cold to wear them. Hmmm. I don't know. Part of me feels like I should have a second pair of shoes to wear, maybe I should go buy some this weekend. I can probably break them in if I exercise in them and wear them around the house. :confused3

We loved our PH-used them almost daily.
YAY for the wieght loss
Sorry about the knee-do what it takes to have it in good sha[e for the trip
Try not to worry about the blisters
Great packing list
Thanks. I'm leaning towards the park hopper for sure. Who knows, I might even upgrade to an AP. I am going in October afterall. ;)

Hey LL :) Sounds like the park hoppers are sounding better! I'm glad you at least had some weight loss at your Dr's appt, hopefully that brightened your day some, the holidays are just so hard. As for the knee, check a local med supply place, they make the stockinette stuff to go under casts and stuff, maybe you could find some of that to use? At least then it would be something you can slip off and on, and would be lightweight and breathable. If all else fails you could always hit a thrift a thrift store, buy a men's xxl tee and cut the sleeves off to slip up under the brace..just trying to think of things that would be cooler under the brace....
I am going to get something to go under the brace for sure. I can't have it rubbing against my skin, obviously that doesn't work for me. :rotfl: All good suggestions, I'll have to look into those. :thumbsup2

Oh, no -- I hope your knee gets better soon!

Hurray for another couple of pounds! Every bit counts!!!

Your to-do list definitely looks manageable!!! :thumbsup2
Thanks, CP. I'm trying to just focus on smaller goals, I think that makes it easier for me to keep focused.

LL - hope the knee holds up.* I have had weird things happen like that with my knees as well.* When I was young and skating, I wore out the cartilige and now have arthritis starting.* I feel your pain.* Just be prepared and I agree with Wigd - get an ecv if you need to!!I'm with CP on the cookies.* I don't mind carrot cake, but the Mickey shaped shortbread would be so good with coffee!!Your packing list looks great.* Did you need gum?? I know lots of people forget it and they can't buy it there!Oh, and HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! :wizard:
Gum! Good idea, I need it for the plane for sure. You know, I think we got tons of gum in our stockings so I'll just snag some of that. The doctors told me that I have very mild arthritis starting in one of my ankles, I must have sprained it about 4 times so yeah for that.

Congrats on the weight loss :yay:

I hope you're feeling better soon. And I agree with Anita. If your knee hurts, get an ECV.

I love your idea about writing down your outfits for each day.
I am going to write down my outfits, I think it will help me keep organized down there. Oooh, I'm so excited!!

Hurrah for the weight loss! So sorry about the knee! I hope that clears up. But you and Jen can handle any adversity that comes your way. Jen, in her magic bag, had this magic blister fixer upper thing that worked wonders for me in September! :thumbsup2

:lmao: to Jen saying she's pulling a C and packing at the last minute. I can't say I recommend my methodology to anyone. It's a bit stressful. :rolleyes1

:woohoo: to park hoppers and to being so organized for your trip. I've forgotten have you told us if you'll be tweeting? It's so fun to follow along "live."

Happy New Year!!
Oooh, what was the magic blister fixer?? I need to stock up on it.

Yes, I will be tweeting. I will get that link up sometime this week. I usually hook my tweets up to facebook too. Though some of Marc's family members made comments about how they didn't need to know my every move last time I was in Disney. :headache: Maybe I'll just delete them until after my trip. :rotfl2:

Can't believe your trip is in a few WEEKS:thumbsup2

Great lists.

Sorry about the knee. Don't let anything detract from the fun the 2 of you are going to have. Be honest with yourself and Jen on the trip if you are in pain. Don't overdo it.

I would say have a contingent plan IF you have continued problems. Ask for a first floor room or one near elevators. Request a room closer to bus stops and/or Food Court/Guest Services. Buy an extra book or two if too much touring affects your knee. Hangout at the resort more. Enjoy being at the POFQ. I say if you go down hoping for the best, but prepared for the possibility of issues, then you'll be good to go....
You are so right, I think in May instead of resting when my blisters first started I pushed myself too hard. I will be way more honest about that this time around for sure. I do not want a repeat.

I think that Jen and I were flexible in May and I am sure we can be flexible again if we need to be. I think we look at our itinerary as more of a guideline than an absolute rigid schedule. :thumbsup2

Ok that Carrot Cake cookie is so much a must on our next trip...I meant to get one at the studios...and I forgot...(I'm all about Cream Cheese frosting...:thumbsup2)

I love that you did a test drive on the corn dogs...too cute...only you LL take your Disney experiences that seriously and that's what we love about you...

Congrats on the weight loss...that's awesome...it does slow as you move along...focus on the fact that it is going down...not the speed...

I am so sorry about your knee......it will work out one way or another...and if you have to use the chair ...so what? You'll be in Disney...

and you'll be there fairly soon...;)
I am so ready to be there!!

I had to test drive them, I had read that a lot of people have problems with hot dogs after surgery so I was worried. I didn't want to make myself sick. It's not fun. I was so happy that they didn't bother me! :yay:

13 Days until Disney World Warm Fuzzies.

Make your own Goofy Treats!

OH NO LESLIE I CAN"T FIND MINE!! We'll have to ask our lovely friends to post theirs for me!!! I'm a huge fan of the pretzel rods LOVE THEM!!!!

Just for you Jen, I went through photobucket (96 pages!) of my September 2008 trip for my pretzel rod pictures.

Does anyone have more pictures they are willing to share??

This is another one that is all Jen. I know it may be DIS blasphemy but I'm not a huge fan of these. It was way too much when I made my own and sweet things are even sweeter to me now that I haven't been eating them very often. I will gladly accompany Jen when she makes hers though! These are one of the treats I like to take home with me and I indulge in some after Disney trip goodness!! These travel very very well!!!!

In Two Weeks....

Jen & I will be waking up in Disney together!!

Friday January 15th:
*Hollywood Studios
Park Hours: 9 – 7PM
*Hollywood Studio List O’ Things:
*Toy Story Mania x’s infinity!
*The Great Movie Ride
*The Voyage of the Little Mermaid
*Beauty & The Beast
*Muppets 3D
*Streetmosphere Characters
*Animation Studio
*Meet Toy Story Characters
*Hollywood Brown Derby @ 6:45PM

I am so looking forward to this day. We both love Hollywood Studios and I can't wait to have a full day here with Jen. Plus, I don't get overwhelmed by this park at all. It feels so much smaller and more manageable to me. I can't wait! Me Too Me Too...so much I'm looking forward to at this park!!! Now that I have seen UP can anyone tell me if they are still doing the character meets there???

Just want to wish you all a very Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Happy 2010 Leslie and Jen!!!

I will have to remember that the pretzel rods travel well. ;)

Yeay for Hollywood Brown Derby in two weeks!!! Don't forget to take a picture of the autograph book!

Hooray for your first day in the parks together!! The pretzel rods look right up Piper's alley! You all are going to have so much fun..and as Piper said last night at midnight..now "You're (I'm..she said) going to WDW this year!!"

If you go to Goofy's Candy Co at Downtown Disney to get the pretzel rods, they used to have some pretty good coffee the. I always stock up on the SUPER sour hard candy. I can't believe how quickly it is coming up.:banana::banana::banana:

Hey LL - I just wanted to tell you that there's a powder designed for when you work out to help reduce chafing and rashes. Maybe it would help with the rash behind your knee (if it's caused by sweat from the brace and not a reaction to the material.) It's called Monkey Butt Powder.

Hi Leslie & Jen - I haven't posted in a while but I've definitely been following along!

Your PTR is making me hungry! :confused3

I love your, "in two weeks..." posts - I may borrow that idea for my PTR when we finally make it to April. :hourglass It's such a fun way to pass the last two weeks. :thumbsup2

Oh yes those pretzel rods! Saddly the snack credit is only ONE now, which is a DRAG, but they are still quite yummy! MY boys like those marshmallow dips, and I love the English toffees... I have a photo of pretzel rods from this past summer.. let me look! RE your knee, easy does it, and yes, maybe a powder or something would help... that might be a good idea... re your packing list, I see sneakers. Did I miss your flops or crocs? For when you are just puttering around at the resort, etc... something that gives your feet breathing room... I thought you bought some sandals?

Hey, looks good otherwise, and I love your two week count down!!

Hi LL, and Happy 2010! I've been a very bad Dis friend, but I wanted to tell you I'm going to try to catch up. Your trip is so, so close and I know you and Jen are going to have a super time.:goodvibes

Hurray on the weight loss!:banana:You should be proud of yourself.

Monkey Butt powder!:rotfl2:

Happy New Year!!!

The pretzels look delicious!

Yay for less than two weeks till Disney :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Love your attraction list for DHS. My nephew and I have been playing Toy Story Mania for Wii. It's a definite must to get your TSM fix in between visits.

Yes, I will be tweeting. I will get that link up sometime this week. I usually hook my tweets up to facebook too. Though some of Marc's family members made comments about how they didn't need to know my every move last time I was in Disney. :headache: Maybe I'll just delete them until after my trip. :rotfl2:

Check with Brookelizabeth... I think she said she found a way to send FB updates only to a certain group of friends. Or deleting them works too.

---------------

Incredibly jealous of your Brown Derby date! :cloud9: Is that timed with park close so that hopefully you get the empty park experience??

Happy new year, LL and Marc!

I haven't done the pretzels at Goofy's...just the Mickey head rice krispy treat. It ended up being HUGE and it took me several tries to finish it, but it never got stale or gross.

Yay for two weeks! When I woke up this morning, my first thought was, "I'm going to Disney World next month!"

Those pretzels look too darn good! DD and I missed the make you own line at Goofy's Candy Shop because there were a lot of people on line! But, I love chocolate covered pretzels!! I think those pretzel rods need to be on my must do list!!

You are so right, I think in May instead of resting when my blisters first started I pushed myself too hard. I will be way more honest about that this time around for sure. I do not want a repeat.

I'm glad that you're flexible....:thumbsup2

....more of a guideline....where have I heard that before...pirate:

I totally agree about HS being easy to get around...
Pretzel rods look yummy....my 17yr old nephew made some last year when I took him for his first trip and I have a picture of him outside Goofy's eating them....he often makes that his profile picture on FB :goodvibes
I would still take another pair of shoes/flip flops....they won't take up much space. I still recommend the montrails...as happydog said they will give your feet a rest and it might feel good to have a different type of shoe on.

We're gonna be in DHS that Friday too!!!!!! :woohoo:

Oh Leslie I think you should definitely talk to your doctor about your knee. Buckling isn't normal! What could it hurt to ask?

I realize it is probably not the same doctor that should should ask about it though...

Pretzel rods...YUM! Although no way I could eat a whole one, yummy as they are.

OK...Not so sure these are that different than what you have already-loaded with peanut butter cups and chocolate-...but its the spirit of sharing that counts...:goodvibes

Those pretzels are quite yummy...and there is something just so Willy Wonka fun-ish (We've read Willy Wonka here recently and watched both film versions-so I've got Willy Wonka on the brain...) about putting in your order and watching them make them to your specs...

Oh wow...your trip is really getting close...:yay:
