Disney Gives Me the Warm Fuzzies. January 2010 PreTrip Report. Update 11/6 Pg. 79

I think that we are going to try the parasailing, again, in February, and also go big with the 600 ft. My b/f thinks I'm crazy for wanting to because he is very afraid of heights. He felt really bad when it fell through on our last trip, but he was also relieved that he didn't have to worry about us any longer. :rotfl2:

Glad that you are feeling good, I'm looking forward to seeing your one month picture!

I think I sometimes get a little too wrapped up in the planning. I become obsessed with Disney as my only focus. I begin to plan all of our vacations in Disney, I only want to talk about Disney, you get the idea. It's scary sometimes. I think I need to give up a bit of the control.

I think we are going to rent a cabin in Maine for a week or two next summer. I'm looking forward to the relaxing.

I feel like I'm ready for new Disney experiences. I want to go to Disney with my future family. If that makes sense. I was talking to Jen about this and she said it did. I figure Marc & I might go in January 2011 or sometime later that year. If not, I know we'll go in 2012 for my 30th Birthday hopefully with baby in tow. I'm okay with that.

EDIT: I forgot the warm fuzzies!

Jen: The feel of the wind in my hair during Test Track.
LL: Dodging raindrops with your best friend.

First of all great that you are eating normally and feeling good! Second, I love parasailing as a weight loss goal!

I can totally relate to needing a Disney break. Not that we go as much as I'd like but for Jeff, 18 months is pushing it for a return visit. to him that is going every year :lmao: and I suppose based on the calendar year....he has a point. We need other travel in there too to balance it out. 2 weeks in Maine sounds like heaven to me.

How lovely to contemplate a trip for your 30th with baby in tow!

I have heard that TSM for the Wii is great. Methinks I need to give that to the boys for xmas. Or Santa does....

Need to remember that idea!

I'm doing a TA this time. It's very freeing! Not sure about the ADR part, I may need to take control of that myself. We shall see.

LL, I am using Dreams Unlimited and if you don't already have someone I can give you her name. She is GREAT!!!!! I have postponed this trip 3 times and am finally going in 68 days. She was great every time I had to postpone. She has saved me over $800!!!! She also has been able to get every ADR I wanted even the hard to get ones. She even booked my Wishes Dessert Party last night for me!!!! I really can't say enough good things about her.

Breaks are just fine, LL. Disney is a fabulous, fabulous place but there are lots of other wonderful destinations out there. You're not a traitor or anything. You'll be back, and hopefully with little Baby Lallies in tow.:goodvibes

Since I can't even handle ToT, parasailing would be a big old NO, but I'm proud of you for picking a goal and going for a dream. Can't wait to read all about it. Do they rent wetsuits?

I'm super happy about the progress of your recovery. What does filling the band mean? Is it hollow?

Loved your fuzzies today!:goodvibes

:yay::yay: for the TSM Wii game! I am still wondering why I haven't bought that yet? :rolleyes1
I did buy the TSM app for my iphone and it is cute. Don't know if it is going to help my strategy but I suppose anything will.
Happy to see you doing so well:woohoo:

Tracy

We've done four trips in four years and its getting tougher to convince my 14 year old to come. He has so much fun when we go, but he's asking if we can go somewhere else now. I think after I get my Christmas fix we'll wait for the Fantasyland overhaul to be done before going again.

I love the image of you taking a little LL with you :cloud9:

TSM for Wii is awesome!! And playing it on a 50" plasma! Yowsers! My 4 year old has been playing it while my older two are in school and he's already learned how to unlock some new games I haven't played yet!

I've used a TA for my trips but was going to do it myself next time. Don't you lose out on upgrades when you use a TA?

We bought the TSM for Wii last week and I haven't even played it yet. I think I'll wait until the boys are gone and move the system upstairs to the big TV and get some practice in.....:rolleyes1

I'm sleepy but am very anxious to see your picture! I'll be watching carefully so I can construct your new swimwear for your trip in Jan.:goodvibes
:lmao: I don't think I will be duct tape bikini ready in January. :rotfl:

He he about picking your resort for now. ;) Can you believe that I didn't change our resort once for the October trip? I think because it was a discounted room and all. You should be proud of me.
I am VERY proud of you!

I think going with a travel agent just from the standpoint of your ADRs is a grand idea. That way you won't have to worry about making them and getting to work on time.
I'm really trying to de-stress. I don't want to get back to work and become a bundle of stress again.

I don't blame you for wanting to take a break from Disney -- it will make it that much more fun when you go again, and really, three years (at the most) is not that long to wait.

Parasailing would be so cool! (Well, I would never really want to do it, but I think it will be so cool to read about you doing it. :lmao: ;)).

It is a sad thing that I wasn't even considering getting a Wii until they came out with TSM -- Disney always knows just how to get me.

Can't wait to see the one-month picture! Enjoy your last week!
They really do know how to get to you! Disney does it to me everytime as well!!

My goodness, back to work already? The time has just flown by. I am so glad that you are doing so well. Congratulations!

Parasailing?!? :scared1: Well, that's my reaction if I were doing it but since you're the one who is going to do it and it's been a dream of yours here is my reaction :cheer2:

Totally understand wanting to do different vacations. Hope you'll stick around on the DIS, though. :goodvibes

Hurrah for the new tv. I am dying to get one. And the wii. :rolleyes1

Have a great week! :upsidedow
I think parasailing sounds like so much fun! To be way up in the air just floating along. :cloud9:

Of course I will stick around the DIS. IT's sad that when I think about no Disney, I get sad that I won't be doing PTRs and TRs. :rotfl:

We all go through different moods and stages through life, and if you're at a point where you feel the need to do something non-Disney, then you should go with it with no regrets. As it nears, you may change your mind, and Disney World will still be sitting there ready to enjoy. If not, you may have a super great vacation somewhere else doing other things, and that'll be great, too! It'll all work out for you. The thought of taking a baby with you when you celebrate your 30th is very exciting! :yay:

I'm glad you guys got your super-duper TV. I'm sure you are enjoying that!

Enjoy this last week of hanging out before you get back into the rat race of life!
That's what I was saying to Marc too. If something happens and we plan a sort of last minute trip then it happens. If not, I'm okay with waiting until at least 2011. :thumbsup2

I love the idea of going to a travel agent!! As much as I love planning my trips sometimes I think it becomes more and more about the planning and less about the experiences on the trip!! May was so much fun for me because you did all the planning LOL...now you can have a bit of that feeling just looking foward to being there!

Yes I totally get the whole need a break! Disney isn't going anywhere so we can always look forward to going back, but it will be nice to have other experiences!! A cabin in Maine sounds amazing, I know it would be something Prince P and I would love to do!!!! Of course I'm going to settle to moving to Austin and maybe going camping in Hill Country in a tent...I'll let you know if I survive that LOL!!!! However Disney at 30 with little ones in tow...let's make plans LOL!!!

I can't remember if I used the word crazy or the words certifiably insane...but yes either way you Parasailing in January...hmmm...I'll be on the dock with a good book some hot cocoa and my gloves just watching you and your dream!! I"m all for you doing it and me shivering LOL!!!:cold:
So very true, Disney is not going anywhere. I'm looking forward to just relaxing and we are trying to find one in the area we used to rent in years ago so I'm looking forward to exploring some childhood haunts.

I read the whole post, I swear, but one thing just grabbed me.

THEY HAVE TOY STORY MANIA FOR THE WII?????

Why has my husband not bought this game yet??? :confused3 :lmao:

That's so cool.

Anyway, I know how you feel about the lull. It's frustrating. If you want to book through a travel agent, especially a reputable one like that, I say, let them take that stress of your shoulders. You'll have more enjoyment in the long run, you know?

Me, I'm too much of a control freak. If you can let go, I say good for you!!! :goodvibes

And you're right to put off a trip to Disney with Marc if you're not feeling it. When a vacation becomes stressful, it's not fun anymore. And renting a cabin will be relaxing, and I'm all for going to Disney for thirtieth birthdays. ;)

Plus it's hard to plan a trip when you know you're wanting to possibly plan a family, so giving yourself a longer goal may be nicer. Plus, by then, hopefully, all the new Fantasyland expansion will be done, so that's something fun to look forward to!
You must get Toy Story Mania for the Wii! It's serious fun, even comes with 3D glasses! :3dglasses

I'm trying to be less of a control freak. It's one of my new "rules" for myself. It's really hard. Baby steps if you will.

It's really hard to plan a trip when you are so uncertain of what and when things will happen so this is the least stressed path for me!

(I happen to know that I am getting a D23 membership as an anniversary gift next month...don't ask me how I know...hehehehe...I'll let you know what I think...

1. I think going through a travel agents should alleviate some of your stress...they get to make your ADRs, room ressies, etc...Go for it...

It is easy to become a little OCD with Disney, obsessed, etc...I know I am/have begun to be as well...:lmao:...all good things in moderation...

2. YOU need a Disney break...LL....you wild and crazy lady you;)...I think it is very healthy to take a break...you can still love Disney, the parks, movies, etc and not go every year...(or multiple times a year...;) We've gotten a little tied in to going to Disney every year...and that isn't going to change next year but I think we'll probably have a break in 2011...(well we might do to DL for a couple day as part of a Grand Canyon to CA road trip...does that really count though...:confused3)

Maine is beautiful-we've only gotten up through the Yorks and Oqunquit and the Kennebunks...but what we saw was beautiful...I think that renting a cabin there would be a fabulous vacation...

(I will send all kinds of good wishes on the baby front...I think you'd be a great mom...:goodvibes)

3. the Parasailing-I am in deep admiration of your desire to do so -Go for it girl...on the other hand...I can kind of see Jen's point about the cold...but if you are a hardy New Englander and think you can handle...YOU GO GIRL...:woohoo:

I'm glad your recovery is going well...
Yes, I do need a Disney break. Absence makes the heart grow fonder after all. Thanks for the good wishes on the baby front. I really can't wait. Oh and I can totally handle the parasailing!

I remember you mentioning it last year. I really want to do it!

First of all great that you are eating normally and feeling good! Second, I love parasailing as a weight loss goal!

I've just become too focused on Disney. I think it drives Marc a little crazy but I'd like to get into the habit of every other vacation being Disney so I need to start getting in that. Oh I am sure I'll be online trying to secure ADRs at some point during that day.
LL, I am using Dreams Unlimited and if you don't already have someone I can give you her name. She is GREAT!!!!! I have postponed this trip 3 times and am finally going in 68 days. I actually booked through them earlier today. Phew. I've been emailing one agent for over a week now and she's been great so far. Let's hope it keeps going that way!

Breaks are just fine, LL. Disney is a fabulous, fabulous place but there are lots of other wonderful destinations out there. You're not a traitor or anything. You'll be back, and hopefully with little Baby Lallies in tow.:goodvibes

See, ToT terrifies me, that fast dropping thing makes me freak out. Parasailing isn't quite as fast I am sure.

:yay::yay: for the TSM Wii game! I am still wondering why I haven't bought that yet? :rolleyes1
I did buy the TSM app for my iphone and it is cute. Don't know if it is going to help my strategy but I suppose anything will.

Tracy
I think the Wii game would absolutely help your TSM strategy!

We've done four trips in four years and its getting tougher to convince my 14 year old to come. He has so much fun when we go, but he's asking if we can go somewhere else now. I think after I get my Christmas fix we'll wait for the Fantasyland overhaul to be done before going again.

I've used a TA for my trips but was going to do it myself next time. Don't you lose out on upgrades when you use a TA?
Yes, at first I limited Marc to a 42" TV, then I agreed to 46" and then the 46" & 50" were the same price so I got the puppy dog eyes and of course I said yes. Men. You should see my inky teeny apartment with this big honking TV in it. :lmao:

We bought the TSM for Wii last week and I haven't even played it yet. I think I'll wait until the boys are gone and move the system upstairs to the big TV and get some practice in.....:rolleyes1
You must play it! It's a lot of fun. My favorite game is the one that is like skee ball. SO MUCH FUN!

1. I'll bet I can make a 1 piece, just think of the support....

2. Just because you "think" you may be taking a break from Disney doesn't mean that we don't want to hear from you and we WILL want to know about all of your travels.....

3. The TSM game is actually mine. I was just tired and a bit "canky" the night we bought it so I haven't played, but I will, I really can't wait!

You are a brave woman for even THINKING about doing parasailing. Don't know if I could handle being that far in the air over water...

When are you thinking of going in 2012? I guess we're 20 years apart since I'll be 50 in 2012.......Man I feel old.

Here I was wondering when you were going to start your next Pre-trip report, waiting patiently thinking isn't this strange? I'm sure she would have started one by now.

Well, don't I feel silly for not even checking, cause here you are.

Sorry I'm late.

I'm afraid of heights.....BUT, parasailing is appealing to me too.

I think I'm CRAZY.

I'll probably never do it, but the thought of being up there with the wind flying through your hair...and the VIEW. Think of the pics you can get!

I understand your thoughts on wanting a Disney break. It makes sense. I remember when Joe and I went on our Disneymoon, and I wasn't even ready to have kids, I would watch the kids and just think "Maybe next time we are back, we'll have our own" (crap, it makes me tear up just thinking about it!) Disney is such a magical place for a child, and for the parents to see it through their eyes. :cloud9: I truly hope that dream comes true LL!!!!

Then, you'll also be back in the saddle for wanting a solo trip. :rotfl:

;)

I liked having a TA this past trip for our ADRs. It was easy to email her and be done with it, BUT, it sorta wigged me out when I didn't hear back in like 8 minutes ....that was hard. She managed to get us CP at 8:25 during Free Dining, so she did good! I didn't like having a TA for everythinggggg else. I need control over that! (and they give you the Disney ressie number, so you can call Disney if you want to adjust things)

I'm super happy about the progress of your recovery. What does filling the band mean? Is it hollow?
:headache: I forgot to answer your question! I basically have a port that goes to the band around my stomach, right now that band is empty. They fill it with saline to tighten the band, the tighter the band the longer the food sits at the top part of my stomach making me feel full which will help me lose the weight. They can also take out the saline filling as well, especially if you have to have another surgery or during pregnancy. :thumbsup2

That would be one supportive bathing suit. I think Jen might have a fit if I go swimming in January though. I'm used to swimming in the ocean, I think as long as it was in the 60's I could handle swimming.

No worries, you can't get rid of me that easily!

I think it sounds fun! I'm surprised so many of you don't groove on the idea. Then again, the though of Rock N Roller Coaster makes me want to puke. :rotfl2:

You are not old! Pfffft.

I am so far behind on your TR! I think I have too many subscriptions. :lmao: No worries on being late!

I don't think I'll ever want to give up solo trips, I think it makes for an healthy balance even when you don't have kids.

I'm liking the TA so far. This is good practice for me.

The plan for a relaxing Maine vacation next year sounds wonderful. My NH vacation this year was just what I needed to rest for a bit this year. I only wish that I had gone for longer than just a long weekend.

The parasailing sounds like a blast. I wanted to try it this trip, but I had to do some cutting due to financial issues. Next time though, I'm going!

We are in that planning lull. You know the one that happens after you have picked your resort (for now...hehehe CP ;) ), made the list for the ADRs you want and figured out how your Park Touring will go. Now you just have to hurry up and wait for your ADR window to open up, for AP discounts to be released and for the Park Hours to be published. That lull.

Sometimes what happens you begin to over plan. Or you don't plan at all. Or you do a minimal amount of planning.

I think I fall into the minimal amount of planning. I've decided on few things this past week.

COLOR]

thank you for sharing about your planning lull - I am going in Jan as well and am in a total lull... I can't even figure out my ADR's because I am stuck without park hours. And to be honest I am blahed out about the trip. I really dislike feeling this way, I look back to see if it is a normal state with past trip planning... My family states I did go through this lull before.

Every PTR I read I doubt this plan or that plan. My resort choice once excited me and now depresses me :confused3. Some excite me , but the doubts are still there :sad2:

Then I see all the great deals out now and only hope I can be lucky in Jan!

AHHHHH :scared1:it's never ending blahs!!! Let's hope some pixie dust lands on me to turn me around as this trip is for my DD and I, special mommy daughter bonding time!

Totally understand about the lull. I'm kind of in the same spot right now. As your ADR date gets closer it will start getting exciting again.

Totally get the Disney burn-out as well. As it was said above, Disney will be there waiting for you when you are ready to return...hopefully with a baby on your hip. :)

We used a AAA TA for 2 of our trips, but they don't make the ADRs. It was fine, but I like doing things myself. To each their own.

I went parasailing on our honeymoon in Hawaii and loved it. My husband is scared of heights and he loved it too, an amazing experience. :)

I'm really excited for the relaxing vacation, I think we found a camp. WOO HOO. Though we were going to do two weeks I think we are just going to do one week now.

The planning lull is really the worst. I get that way before my trips too. It will pass and it will be a wonderful trip I am sure!! :wizard:

I really want to do parasailing at somepoint, I'm not sure if it will work out for January cause Jen & I have something else in the works. :rolleyes1
