Disney giftcard.com closing Jan 19, 2021

I don't understand, my Disney gift cards are bought at many different places and I had them all transferred to one at Disneygiftcard.com.
Disney store are merchandise credit and only good in store or online. I got mine at a discount card site so I did not know untill it arrived.

I wonder if, since the new version of the site will share logins, you'll be able to select a stored card when making purchases through the MDE app, like when mobile ordering in the parks or when doing online check-in for the resorts. That really would be a nice feature to have.

This isn't going to happen.

Read the announcement again - particularly the part about the gift card site NOT being a mobile wallet. (The current site has this same language, btw). The purpose of the gift card site is simply to allow you to purchase new cards, view balances, and combine balances onto fewer cards. Nothing changes about that. The security ramifications and risks of doing what you're wanting are huge, and not in Disney's best interests to implement. The fact that they allow you to store a card (or 5) in your account is the one concession to your convenience they're willing to make. And that comes with the aforementioned caveat - Disney does not assume any responsibility for any loss of giftcard funds.

You always have the option to set up different accounts using a different email address. I didn't want my Disney+ linked to my MDE stuff in any way, so I just created a new gmail account (free) and used that for Disney+. You'll be able to do the same thing here if you really would prefer to keep them separate.

I should have, but when I set up the account initially I didn't know, so I used my main email. I also puchased the three year subscription when they had the D23 deal before it launched.. which actually is probably WHY I used that email. I logged in a couple times without trouble at first (had a different password and everything) then suddenly got a notice that the password was wrong and I had to use the password that was used with the parks account. Contacted support, they thought they could split it off but weird things started happening... we went round and round with them for a good six months before we had to throw in the towel on it and "merge" the accounts together (which is also still not going smoothly.. the "other" account won't deactivate).

For this I probably will do exactly that.. and once my 3 year D+ account expires plan to start over again with a new email. I imagine they will have a renewal deal I will need to forego though... :headache:

They announced back in May that gift cards could be used on mobile orders. I've not been in the parks to confirm but I thought this was the case. I was very excited to see this addition because we always use gift cards to pay for our meals. I understand the website isn't a virtual wallet but I think they can pull a balance from a gift card like any other merchant can and know what balance is available to use in real time.

Yes, you can use GC for mobile orders, but you have to enter the card number each time. You cannot store a GC on MDE.

yeah this was a pain, especially considering the "SAVE" button when entering Disney Gift Cards and my Disney Visa Rewards redemption card. There were a few times I just decided to skip entering the gift card again, and using my Credit Card (Disney VISA) on file.

Good to know. Thanks.
The time-saving way to do this is save the gift card number in the notes app on your phone and just copy and paste into MDE each time you order, so nice and simple, especially if you’re doing your lunch preorder as soon as you wake up and haven’t rolled out of bed yet (which is also a great timesaver, assuming you know where and when you want lunch)

I have a question about combining gift cards on this site - I've done it many times before, but I have a handful of cards that each have about $600 on them.

I know I can't put more than $1,000 on one card, but if lets say I have $600 on Card A and $600 on Card B, can I move $400 from Card B onto Card A making it now worth $1,000 which leaves Card B with $200 on it?

I thought I'd ask before I messed up something!

THANKS!

In my experience that's not possible unfortunately.
UGH - I have some really cute "new" giftcards and I was hoping to bring those on our next trip instead of the old, regular ones!

Oh well, maybe I'll just bring them all!

thanks!

I am so glad I saved every card I bought for our upcoming trip. I have them all consolidated onto a couple of cards, but have the originals too just in case. I will have a few weeks before we leave to get it sorted if there is an issue.

I merged all my cards before I left just as you did.. I also used
I have done it. As long as neither card goes over $1000.
That's how I did all my cards... it was my dining plan

I guess I should go back and look at the interface more closely. It's been a while since I tried but I don't remember there being an option to transfer any less then the full balance of the card to another.
