Disney Gift Cards and on board account

Hello!
Quick question does anyone know what happens if you use Disney Gift Cards on your on board account and their is still money left over after the cruise, do they leave the remaining amount on the card or do you have to go to guest services before debarktion ?

They just put the money back on the card. We cruised November 2014. I didn't go to guest services for the money to be refunded, it was just put back on my card. We used the gift card 2 days after our cruise at DTD, and it worked fine, so there was no long wait for the funds for us. I did check what our cabin balance was on the last night, just to make sure we were covered. But I didn't think about the balance on the gift cards until we got ready to use them to pay for dinner at TRex. Just in case you are concerned though, keep your printout from your room charges and the original purchase receipts from the gift cards.

Can they directly transfer from your DVA to your onboard account?

I have not done this onboard, but have called prior to my cruise and added stateroom credit from my DVA. Because we were unable to dock at Castaway Cay, I was not charged for the 2 cabanas I booked (and had included in the amount of stateroom credit I added). That money got refunded to my DVA account.
