Disney Gift Card Issues

So we always pay with Disney gift card when we check out of the hotels. During our stay at vdh a couple of weeks ago, we had an issue with room service and they told us they would refund our gift card and it could take 7 to 10 days. Every time I get a gift card refund, it usually comes back right away but okay.

I went to the front desk to make sure they issued the refund and the girl said she would call them to make sure. Well fast forward and no refund.

I call the hotel and they keep saying my folio just had the tot and I explain I pay everything with gift cards as I go.

I get transferred to billing who says they dont handle gift cards that I need to send an email.

I email two different places and silence. I am super irritated with vdh right now and getting the run around. I just want my money back. Has anyone dealt with this and who or what number should I actually be speaking too?

Hotel manager. Your folio should show all transactions both negative and positive. Do you have a paper copy they have you?. My refunds have always shown up right away.

Also look at your history in your gift card online.

So I pay directly with the gift card I dont put it on the room and wait so its not on the folio at all ugh. I just called them again and this time they transferred me to in room dining which is new. She said she would look into it and call me back. I know for sure they didnt refund me I have the history of the gift card. The saga continues. If she doesnt call me back, its time to speak to the manager We didnt even eat the food so im mad

I guess from now on the smart thing to do would be to have everything charged to the room and then gift card in case something like this arises. This is new for me.

Got it wow they did that so fast simply by transferring me to in room dining. I didnt need to write all these emails and call billing.

So this thread doesnt go to waste if this happens to anyone ask to speak to to the specific department where the issue was.

Yes I wasnt looking forward to dealing with that in person, back to buying gift cards

For next time...I was at OKW last week and charged all dining and park charges to the resort room. They were processed to the credit card on file as Pending, and then I stopped the last night before we left and applied the gift card to pay for the charges. My folio was emailed to me and I could see all the charges (plus I viewed the charges use MDE all week). Works really well, as long as you have room in your credit limit for the Pending charges.

I just get so nervous that ill go over some limit and then theyll charges my card after I bought thousands of dollars in gcs

If that happens they will refund you and let you pay with GC's. I have went over my limit before. I cant remember the limit.. maybe 2k

They run it overnight the night before you depart. We left on a Sunday, they ran it sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

It is a lot more hassle for them, so you might get some pushback. They have to issue credits to your credit card, which may take some time to get to you. If you are concerned about your credit limit, you can go to the front desk as often as you like to apply gift cards. They just can't do it in advance and run a "credit" balance, you can only use gift cards to pay off charges that have already occurred.

I was at OKW, and stopping at the front desk wasn't very convenient, that resort is spread out

I just go down each night....and pay off anything that I do not want charged to my CC. But, when I pay directly with my GC, which i register with Disney Gift Cards before I go, I check my transactions.

What is the limit before they run your card on file?

They have changed it over the years. I believe @VGCgroupie is correct at $2K for deluxe resorts. Unless they have changed things it is based on hotel tier level but not sure about DLR. Luckily DS obsession with the good churros didn't put us over the limit
