Disney Gift Card Deals

I live in upstate NY. Best Buy worked fine for me, turned $200 egift cards into eBay today and got shop kicks too! Still have $100 Walgreen gift card that I haven't had a chance to try and turn into eBay yet.

I am with you there! You can only use so much gas. My brother uses a ton and we have a deal worked out with him to use the savings. My husband and I rarely leave the house so that's no help. But since this is basically cash for cash with a +8%, I might go for some especially since I should be able to use these on eBay and get around the gift card limits. And I think I can use a Cashback card to pay so that adds up too.

Another thought I just had:

Buy $100 Visa card, which I've determined nets me $6 with this promo.

Five minutes later, use that Visa card at Kroger to buy a $100 Disney card for 200 fuel points, about $6 for me.

Net: $12. More if I can get the full 35 gallons OR if I hold onto the Visa until 4x fuel points.

Would all of that be allowed?

The Visa card has activating fees you are not accounting for.

I already accounted for the fee in an earlier post--sorry that wasn't clear. It would originally have been $12 profit, assuming 30 gallons, I subtracted $5.95 for the fee.

Yeah, we don't have Costco around here, so we are stuck with Sam's Club. We also don't have Kroger. The only grocery chain that does anything with extra gas points is Price Chopper and that is like twice per year and it isn't very good percentage. Plus, we have a Chevy Volt, so we don't even really use gas anymore.

So you can still get the 5% discount on disney gift cards through target.comif you pay with your red card ? I noticed a lot of posts indicating they would use SAMs club to buy Disney gift cards . Isn't that the same 5% discount as target or am I missing something.

I believe at Sam's you can pay with a Walmart gift card, or with a credit card, either of which could have benefits.

Soooo - just realized that we hit our $6K grocery spend on the AmEx BCP! (It didn't take long with buying GCs and prescription co-pays!!!) Darn it! :mad:DH is an authorized user, so he can't apply for another card, right?

Any suggestions for another card with rewards for groceries? (We don't fly so airline miles are not important to us.)

I also have the Amex Blue Everyday card, which gives 3% back on groceries. I use that once I hit the $6K limit on the Preferred card. Another option - and better imo - would be the Discover It Miles card. Its 1.5% on all purchases, and that gets doubled after your first year. So essentially, you're getting back 3% on all purchases for a year. The name of the card is deceiving . . . you don't have to redeem for travel . . . I just dump the cash back into my bank account every month.

Boy, go on vacation and everything changes here! Boo on Target.

This is what I do when Kroger does 4x. I have found (at least here locally) that I must register the Visa card before using. Otherwise the registers won't allow you to buy a gc with a gc. Registering first almost always works for me. Unfortunately, this last time around, I was able to use the Visa gc to buy Target gc's in the morning. Then that night, I tried to buy again, and the transaction wouldn't go through at the registers. The Visa gc was fine. I think I must have hit some kind of Kroger limit.

I use my Chase Freedom card with the rotating quarterly 5% bonus categories. Usually one quarter's bonus category includes groceries. The 5% bonus is good for up to $1,500 spent so I usually switch to the Chase Freedom until I max out the bonus and then go back to my AmEx BCP. This year the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter bonus categories also include warehouse clubs, so I'm buying a lot of my groceries at Costco. With churning opportunities slowing down, I think I'm going to need a big chunk of my $6K grocery spend to accumulate the rest of the gift cards we need for our January trip.

You can do either in one or more transactions. If you buy in store, you can earn Shopkicks and online, you can earn Ebates.
Thank you! I ordered one $50 to test the waters but didn't get the email from Amex, but they might not send it until you spend all $200.

Yesterday, I brought my small Target cards into the store and had customer service combine them. I did my shopping and included a $50 Disney card.
I paid for my shopping with my $50 Target card and my RED card and had no problems at checkout.
1- I can't find my receipt, so I don't knwo if I got 5% off the Disney card. (Since all of my small cards were rebates, it isn't a big deal to me.)
2- I purchased $50+ worth of food, toiletries, etc., so the checkout software could have decided that my Target gift cards was paying for groceries and not my Disney card. I'm OK with this.

1. You only get 5% off whatever is charged to your REDcard.
2. It wouldn't have mattered if the only item you were buying was a Disney GC, the Target GC would have paid for the Disney GC just fine.
