Disney Gift Card Deals

We honestly don't shop there that much, anymore since we got a Sam's Club membership. I told my husband that we are going to have to shift our household essential stuff to Target if I can't sell without a huge loss. ;-( I got the cards for 6.6% off face value. It will take awhile to spend all of it.
why don't you buy disney gcs in store?

But 4X fuel points is 14% off when used to their max. So on a $100, save $14, spend $5.95 so you make 8.05 and then you can use that on anything. Not a bad way to start a churn. Am I wrong?

You're right! I just find that I usually end up at 30 gallons. So on that $100, I get .40x30, or $12. To lose $6 of the savings seems like a lot. I have enough time to wait until the next regular promo and buy Disney. If I really needed them, though, it's not too bad!

Because I was getting a really good % off by buying the target gift cards first and then turning around and buying the Disney gift cards on target.com. I was getting upwards of 15% savings overall, but now, I will just buy them at Sam's and be done with it.

I think that's where we all are but I am not willing to take a loss on gcs I already bought or spend more money on items at target than I would otherwise just so I can use my gcs.

We all like to talk about how much money we save on our trips but it doesn't do any good if it is costing you money elsewhere in your family budget.

Yep. I am so thankful that I listened to everyone and went into the store and my Target gift cards worked in self checkout and at regular cashier. I didn't have to take the hit due to Target's sudden policy change. So, I saved 6.6% on my vacation money for my vacation in a couple of weeks, thank goodness. From now on, I will buy Sam's Club already discounted gift cards using my Disney Visa so that I get my 2% since it is classed as grocery. I am good with that, I don't want to run into this situation ever again, where I feel I am up a creek without a paddle, due to a retailer's sudden change in policy. I say thank you again to all the people that encouraged me to go to my local Target. It is the only one around. The rest are over an hour away, one way.

Yay! So glad it worked out! Have a great trip!

I was turned away at Walgreens today. Do the WGCs have to be the red cards or can they be store credit cards? Also, have folks found that buying smaller amounts works better or fixed amount cards? They only had the cards where you choose the amount.

I lurk on this thread every day and have read back fairly far in the more recent pages, so thank you all for the great advice!

This info is almost too late to be useful--sorry about that--but Target is having a deal that ends tonight on diapers, baby wipes, and formula. If you buy $100 of these items, you get a $25 Target gift card. It's not advertised on the front page, but it will say underneath the item if it's part of the deal.

Obviously this won't benefit everyone, but I personally have a 15-month-old daughter who isn't quite ready to potty train yet, and I figure there are a lot of other parents on here with young toddlers/babies, too.

Store credits do NOT work for buying GCs.

Thank you everyone..they worked in store..both at self check out and the last $50 card I purchased through a regular checkout. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh, yay!! That's awesome! I'm so glad you tried in store before giving up! I was really hoping you weren't gonna just give up take a loss!

Target changing things definitely stinks, but of course they weren't gonna give us notice that they were changing a policy where we inadvertently got an extra 5% off because they let us buy gc's with gc's. They wanted to thwart us in that endeavor, as they never intended for us to get that extra 5% off on purchasing gc's online in the first place, and they certainly did! No one's happy but nothing we can do, unfortunately. I guess the risk is part of the game.

Is this plus using a %back card the best there is now?
I think as long as Target is still allowing a purchase of a gc with their Target gc in store, which seems to be so for most Targets, that we could get a little bit more than 5% by using Target cards purchased at Raise or the like for something over the 5%. Seven, eight % while not a lot, is better than 5% with the redcard instore, and seems to be an option still at this point. Obviously not so much if your stores do not allow this, but seems that very many do and corporate told a PP that they do allow this. Seems to be that some store managers choose to do differently in some areas, so not all could choose this option.

Thanks for posting the math on this. At first I ignored it because of the few and I have enough fuel points through September but my sister is getting back on her feet after moving and her job not working out so fuel savings for her is always a benefit. She doesn't have the upfront funds to buy GCs in the fuel game but I may go on and buy the Amex cards for my next month spending money since I can use it anywhere and let her have the fuel points on it.

For me it's Kroger. There is no one best way.
Agreed. Love Kroger as a portal. 10-14% each time depending on where we are with gas and my area honors the $1 off at Shell stations. In addition I prefer to shop at Publix so I maximize their fuel gc sales at 20% off every time they have them. So on top of paying $1-$1.09 on gas right now, I'm using a Shell gc to pay most tanks that I got at 20% off the bat. My gas bill has cut in half this year because of doing this and honestly I never would've started down the fuel rewards road had it not been for this thread - so many thanks.

Oh and if I've run out of gas cards, my fuel rewards are maxed out, and I don't have a convenient way to get a discounted gas card quickly, I will pop into BB and grab me a shell card and get reward points on it and double shop kicks.

I am with you there! You can only use so much gas. My brother uses a ton and we have a deal worked out with him to use the savings. My husband and I rarely leave the house so that's no help. But since this is basically cash for cash with a +8%, I might go for some especially since I should be able to use these on eBay and get around the gift card limits. And I think I can use a Cashback card to pay so that adds up too.

I don't even have a Sam's club membership and I am not going to buy one. It's Costco all the way for me. I would just have to save up all the money that I were going to spend on gift cards, get someone I know that has a Sam's membership and buy them all at once with them. That would work. A bit annoying, but 5% is still a little bit of a savings.

I have a feeling that all the Targets that are currently letting you buy a gift card with one of their gift cards in store, will eventually stop as well.
