Disney Gift Card Deals

Question-- what is the difference between a Disney STORE gift card, and a regular Disney gift card?

I want to consolidate my small ($25/$50) cards onto a single card before my trip, and I went to the store and got a card from them for $15 specifically to transfer my other cards onto.

Are you guys saying that if I put my small balances onto the card from Disney store, I won't be able to use them in the park? Yikes!
Disney STORE GCs are merchandise credits that are usually from returning merchandise to the store without a receipt. However, there are times that a promotion might be offered at the stores that are also incentivized with a Disney STORE GC.

A Disney GC will specifically cite that it can be used in the parks in the US and on Disney Cruise Line ships. They can be purchased in a Disney store or online at disneygiftcard .com/

Good morning. Question for the experts as I will soon spend a bit of money paying off our final balance. Luckily a $5,000 bill for our family of 5 is helped significantly by $3,300 on our Disney Visa w/rewards. Paying the balance and it looks like the gift card option will save us something north of $100. Yes, my intention is to buy about $1,700 in Disney Gift Cards and then redeem them to pay off the balance. My travel agent indicated that you could load multiple cards on a specific Disney site, and that once they were all loaded, I just needed to provide him with the confirmation codes.
Two questions:

1) Will I face any problems buying such a large amount of gift cards either online or in-store?
2) Has anyone had any problems using the online portal to upload gift card #'s?
3) Any strategy as it relates to the actual gift card purchase, i.e. going to specific retailer, if Target, using Red Card, etc?

Thank you!
Will I face any problems buying such a large amount of gift cards either online or in-store?
Possibly. Every manager has a right to limit your purchases to a certain dollar amount or number of items. It might be smart to make multiple trips over time and go to different stores to accomplish your goal.

Has anyone had any problems using the online portal to upload gift card #'s?
Every Disney website has its glitches. Some people have had problems either logging in or entering GC #s. However, there appear to be fewer issues with the disneygiftcard .com website than most of the other sites.

Any strategy as it relates to the actual gift card purchase, i.e. going to specific retailer, if Target, using Red Card, etc?

There are multiple strategies. Read the thread for specifics.

Cardcash has an additional 4% savings on target gc using code SMARTDEALS. Currently you can get $200 Egc for about 9% off.

The recent info on target has me confused. I've re-read the past couple weeks and still get lost. Can someone let me know if I am up to date?

1). There was an issue with target eGC redeeming on target.com for other GC's.

2). Using physical GC on the site did not have this issue.

Maybe it's been resolved?

With my payment due in 30 days, I'm looking at buying discount eGC's from a site like this and/or Raise, and then straight to Disney GC online to get the other 5%.

So, the short version of my question is: Are people having success using these Target eGC to buy physical cards online at Target.com, and getting the 5% off (with RedCard marked as default payment)?

The issue has been when buying eGCs using ANY Target GC as payment. IOW, it doesn't matter whether you have the physical Target GC or just the GC # and Access code. If you attempt to purchase an electronic gift card on Target .com with a GC as payment, it was getting canceled.

Disney GCs are physical GCs. Your only problem would be the limit on the number that you can purchase in a single transaction: 4*$50 GCs and 3*$100 GCs. And whether Target .com has them in stock when you go to make your purchase.

This is exactly info I was looking for. Thank you!

So my wife and I own a metric ton of DVC points--we are very likely one of Disney's biggest owners. A few months ago, I bought a boatload of cards to pay for the dues using the eBay -> Target -> Disney trick I read about on this forum. Since the total was astronomical, it took many orders to get there--it was five figures, solidly. I received all my cards in the mail from Target and paid Disney with them, but then a couple of months later we were planning a trip to the park, so I went online to do the trick again and buy enough to cover our anticipated expense. Target instantly canceled all my orders. I called to see what was up, thinking maybe they had issued me a new Debit Card number or something and I hadn't received the card in the mail.

Turns out that Target had totally blocked my account. The rep said I "violated their terms." I kept asking "what terms," "show me the specific term I violated." I got nothing. They just kept repeating that I violated their terms. I looked at their policy and I don't see a single term I violated. Anyway, I moved on--their extra 5% discount doesn't make or break me--and I just went to the store and got what I needed, still at a greater discount than Redcard because I had gotten the Target cards on eBay.

At the time, I saw two other people on the forums to whom this had happened, but it looked like it was a new thing. Anyway, my wife and I leave for Disney World in a few weeks, and I would really like to purchase at the discounted rate because we tend to drop quite a bit while we are in the parks. Has anybody figured a work around for the blocked Target accounts? Is there anywhere I can call at this point? Do they at least have a policy position on this now instead of randomly blocking me from buying from them ever again (I literally can't buy anything--everything gets blocked)?

Any solutions appreciated, because hell if I want to spend an extra 5% if I don't have to. Thanks.

Thank you for telling us about this! I like having another place to go to besides Raise and Cardpool.

I checked this morning and they only had cards at 2.6% off. With the 4% code, that's better than what I could get at Raise/ Cardpool. But then I refreshed the screen and found some larger cards at over 5% off. YIPPEE!

Now if Target would sell some ebay cards, that would be reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally nice.

You're banned from shopping on Target .com but you can still shop in the B&M stores. The ban will not be revoked and there is no one that you can call to appeal the decision. They didn't randomly block you. Your purchase pattern fit their algorithm for a "reseller".

The only "work around" that I can imagine would be to have a trusted friend or family member make the purchase online for you, but it would be at the risk of them also losing their ability to shop on Target .com if you ask them to abuse the system like you did.

Yes, it sucks. But there were plenty of warnings on here to fly below the radar. When pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

Have you considered opening up an account in the name of someone else in your family?

Other than sending a letter to the corporate office and asking them directly what you did wrong, I don't know what you can do. And I think that a letter might do more harm than good.

I wish you luck, and enjoy your trip!

Haha, "abuse the system" by placing orders at their stated rate? If I was reusing a specific coupon intended to be used once, using stolen credit cards, fine, but if they only want me to buy X amount of gift cards ever, they should state that up front; I had ordered plenty of gift cards before that for our two previous trips and they had shipped them, but it wasn't until the motherload order that they gave a rip. Their reasoning is entirely arbitrary, as evidenced by the fact that a rep can't tell me why they blocked me. I'm sure you're right that I triggered some algorithm. That doesn't make it abuse of the system and Target should switch me back on. No reason why I shouldn't get the same discount as everybody else just because I'm buying more--in a sane world, that would make me a great customer.

Ok, that's what I thought. So since I bought the $15 card for cash with the intention of loading another $985 on it, it should work like I planned. I'll triple-check the back of the $15 card before I do it, though. :)

Thanks!

Also, I checked out Card Cash... looks like you earlybirds got the "big" discounts, but I was able to get 2 ecards for a total value of $20 for a cost of $18.56, charged to my Discover for 1% cash back... once those pop up in my inbox, I'll see if I can turn them into a Disney card at Target.com. (If not, I'm about a block from a B&M store right now, so I can always go do it that way.) This is my first churn, standby for report. ;)

I don't know if I'd do that....

CCCDVC, here's the easiest way (IMO) -- Either walk into Target, use your Red Card, and get the 5% discount that way.. or during a promo on Ebay (obviously you'd have to wait for one) buy Best Buy gift cards using Paypal Digital Gifts. Earn the Ebates and promo Ebay bucks (neither of which you'll see for a while), and go into Best Buy's store. Buy Disney gift cards with your Best Buy gift cards. The catch? Doing ANY shopping at PPDG is a PAIN IN THE BUTT and I can't imagine what it would be like to purchase a lot of gift cards from them!

Best of luck - it's frustrating!

Hey, thanks for the tip re:Best Buy. Didn't know they did the Disney GC deal. I actually have a couple hundred for Best Buy that I picked up on one of those deals a couple weeks ago, so I will go in the store and try that. My only concern there is that a lot of the checkstand people don't know you can use GCs to buy GCs so they don't let you buy. I had to go to three Targets after my .com ordeal to use up all my cards.

When I used my BB GCs to buy Disney GCs, the clerk initially gave me a funny look and started to hesitate but I was just really nice about it and asked if she could just try it for me because there wasn't anything else I needed from BB at that moment. Said no problem and it worked! It's definitely worth a try.

SOOOO, I took advantage of this today and was able to catch 6 big cards for a 9.5% discount, waited about an hour and wallla - CANCELED. Called Cardcash to find out what was going on and was told with a wink wink voice that I may want to change the payment method because the transaction was canceled by TARGET!!!!:furious::furious::furious: So im guessing that is the seller of the High $ High % off cards and if your Target.Com account is locked so is your ability to buy on CardCash. Will try a workaround.

A great customer makes a business money not costs them money. We've actually discussed this topic over and over regarding eBay, target, game stop, etc
Those gift cards that we are all buying from gift card mall/PPDG/etc are sold (by stores like target) to the gift card wholesaler at less than full retail value (or else there would be no way for companies like PPDG or GCM to make money selling gift cards). So when you buy those but then use them to purchase an item with a smaller profit margin like Disney gift cards they aren't probably making much if any profit. Combine that with the fact that you are exploiting a loophole in their online system (that gives 5% off even when not charging to the red card) and there's a good chance they could be making nothing or actually losing money. I'm not judging as we all have been buying this way just want to point out that buying in bulk doesn't make you a great customer if it costs a company money to do business with you.

I'm confused. Were you banned by target.com too?

I had to cash out some eBay GC when GCM abruptly stopped selling target cards. I was able to buy $400 of Disney gift cards in 2 separate transactions no problems from either cashier.

Yep, been banned since my December Trip. Was very aggressive with ebucks..newbee churner... and bought a couple of grand worth of ebay(from Target) in one day:oops:. Found a work around for that but didnt think that CardCash was going to allow Target to verify their account against Target.como_O:headache:

So I made a purchase on target.com today and bought 1 $50 Disney card and some toys. I just checked ebates and I only got credit for the toys. So it definitely appears to me that the ebates glitch has been fixed by target since it has been reported by multiple people the past few days. Interestingly I got credit for the full toy purchase price even though I had used that $10 off promo code/red card discount to discount the price of the toys. I noticed the same thing the other day (I bought stuff online for in store pickup and even though there was a discount with my red card and promo codes I got credit for the full amount)
