Disney Gift Card Deals

also, if you have target gc apparently the cashiers have something going on with gift cards. Had a cashier get all excited over my purchasing 950 in ebay gc today.

That happened when I bought $1,300 in Disney but I think it was more the sale price in general not just that they were gift cards. But maybe...

Has anyone else had Paypal charge your credit card as a cash transaction when buying gift cards on GCM?
I got slapped with a $10 fee on my CC for paying the $3.98 shipping charge with it when I bought Target GCards from GCM.

This happened to me as well. I contacted my credit card company and they reversed the $10 charge. They said GCM is charging cards as a cash advance and that allows them to skirt the credit card fees they would have to pay otherwise. Now I keep my ebates refund in my PayPal account to cover the shipping charges. GCM can't charge a cash advance with those funds. I think if you have your bank account linked and use that rather than a credit card, they can't charge a cash advance fee on your bank account.

I just tried to make a PPDG purchase a few minutes ago, and on the confirmation screen, it removed my gift cards and made paypal my payment method. Could not use gift cards, looks like another Avenue is dead.

I am sick:sick::sick::sick:...

I have $450 of my family's vacation funds (which is about 1/3 of the total we need yet) tied up in eBay gift cards. As of right now, I don't see any reliable route to get these converted into Disney gift cards. PPDG will not allow the purchase of BB gift cards using eBay gift cards, GCM no longer sells Target (the listing is gone) and I am not aware of any other reputable sellers. It looks like I am going to have to take my chances and spread my $450 out amongst private sellers of Wal-Mart (Sam's Club) and Target. I'm not looking forward to this proposition, but I cannot lose my $450 of vacation money. Does anyone happen to know if physical gift cards are covered by the eBay guarantee? I would feel a little better ordering a physical gift card if I knew that I could get a refund if it arrived with a different balance than what was advertised.

If anyone else has a suggestion that has not been mentioned here, I'm open to suggestions.

I did a couple weeks ago. I called my cc company and demanded a refund. I think it helped that I had purchased the same thing from GCM 2 weeks prior and at that time it was tagged as a dept store. I then had my cc company (Barclay) set my cash advance level to $1 (but they first made me pay my balance, which I do any way, it was just earlier than I planned). Now, whenever I use GCM, my credit card won't go through and I need to use my bank account. I do miss the bonus points on my credit card, but I'm still coming out ahead. I ordered through PPDG yesterday and my cc went through with no problem.

Very annoying and sneaky...

I used Ebay GC the other day to buy BB gift cards from PPDG. Can you do that, then buy Disney in-store?

Perhaps I got too clicker-happy yesterday when I FINALLY got PPDG to let me purchase something... but it defaulted to my debit card and went right through :crazy2: I really wanted to use my Southwest CC to get the points (only 200 points but still!) .. Seems like I'm not the only one this has happened to, though!

I actually did it yesterday too, for $25, as a test. Today, when I tried to make a $450 purchase of BB gift cards, I input my eBay gift card codes and it says it cannot apply these funds.

Has anyone else noticed that when you search Target GC on eBay, the GCM listing is no longer at the top? The only way I can access the listing is if I just go to my purchase history and click through that.

Thank-you for the explanation. That make sense, in spite of being borderline dishonest on the part of GCM. They should be required to disclose that in their listings.
I also managed to have the charge credited back to my card, but I had to be pretty firm with them to make it happen. I explained that the charge was for shipping, and she spoke with her manager about it, and the manager allowed her to credit it back.

Totally agree with you on this! I will definitely just use my bank balance from now on to take care of those extra charges.

Ok, I tried again...this time, it allowed me to apply the funds and I showed a total of $0 and it asked me to select my payment method. I chose PayPal, entered my password and got this..."70245 70358 TRANSACTION_REFUSED 70138"

So now who do I have to contact to get this cleared up? I think it is a PayPal deal, right? The error didn't happen until I entered my PayPal password to log in.

UPDATE: I called PayPal at 8:00am sharp and got right through. A ten-minute phone call resolved the whole thing and I successfully bought $450 in BestBuy digital gift cards. Phew! Now, the awkward step of going over to Best Buy and buying (9) $50 Disney gift cards. I don't dare buy another eBay gift card because this was just too stressful. Now watch...I'll get a bonus bucks promo later today....

Ugh! This is very discouraging. I was lucky that I was able to get $300 in BB the past two days before it rejected my last attempt to purchase. I only have $48 left in eBay gift cards. But I don't think I will be converting the BB to eBay. Going to buy Disney in store and wait to see what else happens in the future before buying more eBay gift cards. If I were you I guess I would just try to wait a few days to see if anything changes before you cash out for something you don't really want.

That is exactly what happened to me yesterday on my last attempt. I didn't call. I thought I would just wait a day or two because I know others have said sometimes when they called they were told to try back in 24/48 hours.

This is the same PayPal issue I was dealing with for the last two days! I think a lot of others have had the same experience. You'll probably need to give them a call. Click through and it should say 'Call or email us' and if you click 'call us' it will give you the number and a unique code to type in when you call. They should be able to straighten it out, but FYI it may take like 2-3 phone calls lol

Something is definitely going on. As previous poster said GCM doesn't show up when you search target gift cards. I think the show may be over, and I just got started.

I just bought BB through PPDG last night at about 10 pm, paid with GC and it worked fine. I think some people are having problems but I don't think there has been a policy change.

Too add more data to the mix here - I had issues last week with ebay "permission denied" while I was in the ebay bucks day (Lockout of 2016) and I can still buy gift cards with ebay codes as of this morning ($200 Sunoco)

As for the target / ebay churning I think we are doomed. The full removal of ebay cards (still slight references in "specialty" gift cards that need to be cleaned up) on target.com, raise consistently at 4%, and the GCM not even showing up in the search are really terrible signs. I think target was technically losing profit but it made revenue numbers look good. Them releasing those numbers of revenue for the amount of little profit this week caused the stock to lower due to unease from investors. Things may change after this quarter, once the results of cleaning up the churners (there are a lot of us) are in. Maybe we make no difference, but I suspect we do.

I just attempted a BB GC purchase through PPDG and got to the last page (confirm/submit) and it was fine with my GC.

Quick question about the loadable eBay GCs at BB-is it a one time load or can I just keep this card and keep adding $ to it? I'm guessing it's a one time deal, but if it allows multiple loads this would be awesome.

I'm agreeing with everyone else - time to get out. All of my gift cards are in eBay which I'm ok with because my current end game was Carnival gift cards since my Disney trip was in March and the earliest we would be going back is December 2018. Previously, they had both physical cards and digital cards. I was willing to pay the shipping to have physical cards and not deal with digital. However, when I went to look - physical are gone and all they have digital through our wonderful friend PPDG. So, I tried 500 and I got they needed to verify my account. Went to where I put a phone number in to send a text and it wouldn't submit. Got out - went back in and tried 200 - no verification required. Tried other multiples and went to the unusable verification screen for every amount over 200. Finally, bought 200 and just figured slowly but surely I will cash out 200 at a time. I've got several months. I didn't get the 5x promo so I was sitting tight, but now I think it's best to get out while you can before ebay gift cards are no longer good on gift cards or target quits allowing GC for GC purchases.

It was fun while it lasted and I'm still grateful for the savings I was able to get over the last 10 months.

Looks like BB got swapped for Southwest, which actually works for me since I have 3 flights coming up.
Ugh, I just saw this. I was going to transfer some of the money I had in my paypal over to get BB this morning. I'm hoping they get more in stock. I haven't tried GS yet and don't really want to push my luck and be stuck with it, especially since I'm already waiting on a GS card I ordered last night and could potentially be stuck with more in GS, though I'm sure DH wouldn't mind.

I suppose the loadable cards are technically reloadable, but both BB and GS (and I'm guessing every other retailer) will not reload them as they want to sell you "new" merchandise.
