Disney Gift Card Deals

I won't be joining any letter-writing campaigns. Target knew what they were doing when they removed the 5% online discount for GCs. It had to be a significant loss of money for them to get off their duffs and finally make the change to their website. A customer that costs you money is not a customer worth keeping. The churning process was costing them money.

I wonder if they had a significant uptick in Ebay GC orders after Ebay removed the $5k/6 month limit

I'm sorry. I've read about some GC orders paid for with GCs being canceled on SD. I've never experienced it. I get the sense that it's kind of like how Target .com occasionally reviews and cancels these kind of orders.

Do you know if it happens with the shipped orders? Or is it just the store pick up orders?

Thanks for sharing the BB info, btw.

I was literally reading up on the terms and conditions of "My BB Program" and came across "Non-Qualifying Purchases" which points out "purchases made for resale," which sounds very similar to Target.com. They also point out " purchases using any type of promotional financing, Best Buy gift card or Magnolia gift card, store credit issued by Best Buy."

I placed 2 orders today on Target.com using Target GC's: Order #1: 3-$100 eBay gift cards and Order #2: 1-$100 eBay gift card with a $0.47 bottle of glue so the purchase would qualify for eBates. The 2nd order was canceled. When I called to inquiry why, they said it was triggered by fraud detection but they placed a flag on my account so "it wouldn't happen again

BB didn't have a shipping option before -- only store pickup -- so that's new for me too.

They obviously did this for a reason, and that is to keep us from getting the 5% discount when using a GC (from what I can see). I'm not sure why they are OK with us still getting the 5% off regular merchandise when paying with a GC. The way they did it makes no sense, but it seems to have been done purposely and for a reason.
They aren't just trying to stop people from getting 5% off when paying with gift cards, it's getting a discount when buying gift cards period. This may be giving them too much credit, but I can possibly see logic in still allowing the 5% discount in store with red card purchases, just for the simple fact that you are in their store and therefore more likely to purchase more goods to offset the margin loss. As far as being OK with us using gift cards to purchase other items and still getting our our RC discount, it also falls into margin. They likely make enough in profit on those items to cover the 5% loss. As PP have mentioned there is not enough margin built into the gift cards to continue to allow what they have for the last few years.

ETA: I think it would be more effective to petition GCM to sell Disney GCs on eBay. They sell them on the gift card walls in the grocery stores and also on their online store. Why not sell them on eBay, too?

This is a good idea. You are right, they sell them in the stores, why not on ebay?? I think it is worth asking for. Certainly cannot hurt.

I went into the store yesterday *just* to buy a Disney GC with Target GC. I spent an additional $30...apples, bananas, mother's day cards, b-day card, b-day gift for dd's friend...so their strategy might work. Force you into the store for the 5% discount and you may spend even more.

I'd be an advocate of writing a letter for that. I tend to be the "ask for a positive" than "complain about a negative" person. Anyone else willing to send a request? Any idea who we'd send it to?

I did the same thing today! Turned $300 target gc into Disney gc & spent an extra $29! All things we needed but it did work to get $ from me.

I always know something happens when there's more than 6 new pages for me to read when I get home from work after checking in the morning. Wow.

I don't churn, but I read what you all do almost daily to keep up on things like Target, learn about fuel promo's (I have Fred Meyer, so they kinda do what Kroger does but not totally even though they are owned by Kroger now) and just to see how things are going.

Thank you for all the information you provide and while I only turn $50 in Target gc from swagbucks into a disney gc every two months, I appreciate all the info you guys share :)

At target stores where you might get denied for GC > GC transactions, you might want to add a couple additional items that you'll buy anyway and most likely they'll skip the fact you're paying for GC with GC with the other items thrown in. It has worked for me with other stores.

Has anyone had any luck buying gift cards with gift cards on target.com today? My orders are getting cancelled.

I've learned a lot from this thread so thanks! I don't post often. Everyone always seems a step ahead of anything I'd have to offer lol. As far as contacting GCM, what about taking the "contact seller" route through their eBay store? I've contacted them a few times and have gotten responses.

Several of these were in just last couple of pages...

I ordered 3-$200 eBay gift cards from target, I did not get 5%off BUT I did get them so I'm ready for an ebucks deal

You can as of this morning -- I did it. That's why I remain mildly confident that everything will still work other than getting the RedCard discount.

I just converted some Target GCs to eBay GCs not more than 5 minutes ago via Target .com. No problem doing it. But I noticed during checkout that when I applied my REDCard to get a discount on the other items in my cart, it now says "5% discount does not apply to gift cards". I don't recall seeing that on previous purchases. So, once again, I think that the 5% online discount for GCs is not going to come back and this is just more evidence of that.

Too funny though I went to Target to convert my gc's to eBay in store and ran into a bunch of problems. First, I could only find $25's. A worker scanned the $200's for me and said there should be some in the back. I go there, out as well. I find another, helpful guy who goes in the back but all he could find were $50's. They were about to close and he asked how I was going to pay. I said gc and he said I'd have to go up front because electronic processing on his register was most likely shut down. I get up front, and they said there was a limit of 3 I could buy. Then, of course, "you can't buy a gc with a gc." She actually asked and the manager said "oh no you can't do that, that's like buying credit with credit." With a completely dumb-founded (albeit sarcastic) look and tone of voice I say "so I can't use my credit card either?" Her: "Oh no you can use a credit card, but you've never been able to buy a gc with a gc."

I just chuckled, walked out, came home, ordered them online, paid with gc's, and they were already delivered. Long story short, definitely YMMV in store.

It seems you might want to give your account a rest. My order went through and was delivered just fine. Sorry you are having problems.

I placed two orders today through ebates for Target, one right after the other and with almost identical office supplies as qualifying items. I receive the ebates for the first order before I got the email from Target that it shipped ( ebay electronic giftcards), Got the ebates inabout an hour. Haven't gotten any notification from ebates on the second order even though it was literally one minute after the first. Strange.
Did you open a new target link from Ebates? When I do, I get credited for the second order.

If I order target gc on eBay using ebucks and go through ebates, will I receive credit from ebates? I wouldn't be adding anything to the order.
In my experience, yes. I spent $500 ebucks thru my account, and DD25's account, and got Ebates for both. I was buying eBay gc's.

Just for a data point this also happened while buying ONE PPDG $20 Ghirardelli card. no issues on the multiples times I've use the account on any other site or GCM on eBay purchases. I'm starting to think PPDG might be a culprit here.
Yep, I agree! Never had any problems with any purchases other than at PPDG. Which stinks caus I'd like to keep using them for GS while it still works for me, and possibly Best Buy gc's to try that route.

I will say, I guess I have a mind block, but I think target will lose more money on me now. I never would have spent the $5500 I spent in the last few months on the gc's. Now I'll go elsewhere for some or more of that, not sure how they make and don't lose money on that.

Yeah--there's some random OT that happens in here. But the majority of discussion IS related to saving money through GC churning. We all do it differently based on what stores we have available to us. I could care less about GS or Kmart but that doesn't mean I don't think they should be here because at one point or another those churners usually end up at the same place I am-- be it Target, Ebay, Ebates.

It kind of rubs me wrong to have someone who's relatively new to the thread get disgruntled over the lack of concise data points provided for their money saving benefit :confused3. But maybe multiple new threads would be a hit--there's nothing to prevent you from starting them up yourself and managing them with more guidelines.
I absolutely agree with you and others posting similar opinions. Occasional, Random off topic happens, but that's life, nothing that interfers with finding info here. I can always skip past if needed. I actually appreciate having info regarding various churning methods here. Some in more depth, some less that I can go find more info about such as reward programs like SB. It's so much more useful having these topics in one place instead of having to try to keep track of, for example, ten different threads. Yikes, that'd be much more time consuming trying to keep finding and reading all those threads. Much more likely to miss something important or new that way. Pretty easy to just skip posts that don't work for me, such as Kroger as we dont have that here. Finally gave GS a try after seeing it here several times, very glad I saw that but would have missed it if it was in a separate thread I had to know to go search for. Sometimes the chatter is what makes me realize something works well and is worth checking out, or helps me figure out the little details that definitely do matter but I was confused about. So, I really appreciate and am thankful to those who share and discuss, and the way ideas are bounced around for good benefit for the most part. Anything I don't need or I'm not interested in, I can very easily skip over, it's really not that hard!

And, I agree, rubs me the wrong way too, someone coming to things should change because they don't like the way the thread operates. I've seen a few other threads at times, they always disappear, but this consistently is here and helpful, in my opinion!

If we will no longer be able to buy gift cards with gift cards, how will we be able to combine small gift cards (like the $5 FWP ones) into larger ones?

I guess I don't see how Target loses money by allowing you to purchase a gift card with a Target gift card. I would think they are getting their money either way.

*If* I will no longer be able to use my Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards, then I will no longer have a reason to shop at Target. When they took the 5% discount away, it stung a bit, but I could still get a "discount" by using my FWP and cards earned through SB, Perk, etc. If that option goes away too, then I will just do ALL of my shopping at Meijer and Wal-Mart which are cheaper and right next door.
