Disney Gift Card Deals

I also just got home from Target where I used a $300 Target card purchased at that 10% off promo at Christmastime to buy 6 Disney $50 cards (out of $100).

No problem whatsoever.

@DVCjj I am trying to keep up and also learn from this lengthy thread. One thing I am confused about, when you buy a Disney gift card with a target gift card, do you get a discount on the Disney card?

Sorry, from Ebay. I had mentioned them a few posts back when we were discussing GCM shipping times, and then suddenly they were here lol.
That's ok, I had that happen to me before to from EBay. This is first time ordering gift cards from staples so I found it odd that one of my orders is still listed as processing after 4 days.

I know others have said they went in store and bought a gc with their redcard and got 5% discount. I don't have time to go back and quote them, but several since Saturday.

@Minniekins I don't have, nor have I used a redcard in the past. When you checkout, is the 5% discount deducted at the register, or do you see it on you r statement?

Red, you need to start from about post 530 and start reading. Most of the questions you are asking will be covered.

But I myself bought a disney gift card after the 5% was eliminated online and got 5% off with RC. Receipt said 47.50 I even did it separate to make sure. Someone else had the same experience with Ebay. So they haven't eliminated the 5% off in stores therefore making this inconsistent.

I did buy a $200 ebay GC at Target Saturday with my RC and got the 5%. I stopped by on my way home to reconfirm after seeing MrInfinity's posts and bought a $25 ebay GC and did get the 5%. This change if that's what it really is, works for Target because a lot of people will be buying ebay in the store now using the RC to start the flip; so ebay bought at Target (you come in the store there's a good chance you will buy something), ebay to Target (they win again) to Disney (they win again), makes since right?

Can someone do me a favor and tell me if the first four numbers of your red card match the first four numbers of a target gift card. My guess is that the gift card number is on the back of the card.

Plus, they aren't paying out any Ebates because its an in-store purchase. That is an awfully good plan, dang it.

I'm sorry...I don't even understand this question. Why would any part of a RC number be on your GC?

I agree with @MrInfinity in that I think the amount of people doing this has skyrocketed just in the last few months. Not sure what happened, how it go so big, so fast but there are just lots more people it seems (FB pages, blogs, youtubes, lots of threads mentioning it, etc). I also have been buying discounted Disney cards from Target for right at 5 years (I remember the excitement of the pharmacy rewards!!) and while there was a nice savings there, many felt it was too much work for so little savings. This is clearly a much bigger savings so more have hopped aboard. I don't know if Target was losing money or not. It would seem yes, but I was not a business major so I will leave all that figuring to others. I hope it gets fixed and right now, I am thankful we can still use a GC to buy a GC b/c that is truly the big savings.

I ran to Target and checked out with Disney GC's. Paid with Target GC. No problems whatsoever.

@StuckInKS The first four digits of any credit / debit card is called the bin number. The same is true for gift cards. There are closed loop and open loop gift cards. A target gift card is a closed loop gift card and the bin number on the gift card would be unique to Target.

Following that logic, if the bin number for both the RC and the Target GC are the same, it would be more difficult to allow the 5% discount in the RC and not the GC.

@wendow Hqve you ever purchased more than $999.99 in Disney GC's in the same transaction? If so, did Target require you to show a drivers license so they could record it on a form?

I know there has been a lot of new faces to this thread (myself included), but its never been a secret, and I think savers on many other types of sites have been doing this for years too. I doubt if the actual uptick (from just the last few months, I'm sure it is from 5 years ago) is that big. I've always known about this (RC discount on Disney), but 5% just didn't seem like that much if I was spending just my own vacation funds for a one-time discount. It wasn't until I connected the whole churning aspect and realized that I could get 5% over and over again + $500 in ebucks a couple times a year (which I also never realized) with basically no extra money, that I decided it was worth it. I remember people saving with the pharmacy coupon, but we never had a reason to get prescriptions back then.

I still don't get it, but my RC debit, RC credit and Target GCs all have different numbers in the front (the GCs, however, do all have the same number)

No. The Target gift card in itself is just like any other 'retail' gift card. Even if you paid for that Target gift card with your Red Card, you do NOT get 5% off because it's their 'home' card. You DO get 5% off a Disney card, any restaurant card, etc. etc. etc. Just not Target.

At Christmastime, look out for a one day promo in the Target Ad paper for that special 10% promo. (they've done it at least 2 years in a row). You can get up to $300 worth. (in store and another $300 on line). I'm honestly not smart or savvy enough to do the very interesting wheeling and dealing of the others on this forum so I stick with something simple.

With those many 'Christmastime' 10% off Target cards I've purchased, I've been able to parlay online purchases using these 'reduced' cards along with the Red Card 5%. One time it didn't go through and I believe Target is going to crack down on the double dipping for sure.

Compared to others here, I am just a novice.

@StuckInKS it is difficult to understand. Electronic transactions are heavily regulated and the different groups of numbers on any of your credit / gifte cards are identifiers. Some identify the issuer and others are unique to your card.

When I receive my RC, I will visit my local target and see how the numbers compare to the GC. Long story short, if the identifiers on the RC are the same as a Target GC, it would be very difficult to turn off the discounts on just the GC's.

On the off chance I get an eBucks promo tomorrow, I went and "cashed in" part of my Target stash for eBay. No problem paying for ebay gc with target gc. I also got some C9 stuff since it is 25% off on cartwheel. Naturally, 5% only came off the portion I put on the RC.

While I hope everything goes back to the way it was a couple weeks ago and Disney comes back in-stock online, blue is not my color.

I do get what your saying about the identifiers, i just don't get why my RC credit and RC debit are different since they are both from Target. But, they are both different from each other and from the GCs.

@StuckInKS That is good information. It would make sense that your RC credit and debit would have different bin numbers as they are two diffident product. The credit card is a traditional credit card.

The RC Debit is more like a reloadable gift card drafted against your checking account. Technically speaking, it r ally is not a debit card.

The first thing I am going to do when I receive my RC is compare the serial numbers to that of the Target gift cards. Maybe then I can shed more light on this.

Hi all! I tried to be a good board-er and go back and read as many recent pages in this topic as I could but frankly I'm getting a headache! Basically, I received a coupon in the mail for an extra 5% off an order, no limits other than the usual disclaimer about gift cards. Has anyone successfully stacked this coupon with their redcard? Thanks for indulging me - BFF booked a spontaneous first-time trip for her little girls today and I'm trying to help her in any way I can but I've been away from the boards for a while!
