I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but on the podcast this week Kevin mentioned that you can go to the
Disney Store and combine smaller denomination gift cards (eg. $25) into one larger card (eg. $100). I tried to do this yesterday (in Culver City, CA) and the manager said he's never heard of it and couldn't figure out how to do it. I also tried buying a large gift card online using smaller ones and that didn't work either.
Has anyone does this successfully recently? any tips on how it works?
Thanks in advance!
This use to be true sometime ago. However, their policy has changed and you can no longer combine gift cards into one large denomination .
Kevin is just not up to date with this information.
We attempted to combine cards at our Disney store yesterday. As we too watched the podcast and heard Kevin talking about combing them.
We thought Disney started to do this again...but no they can not/will not combine gift cards.
In fact, we had a long chat with the store manger...as she was trying to figure out a way to do this for us. As we have ALLOT of GC.
However, she showed us there is not even an option in their computer system to do it.
We have also tried to do it over the phone with the Disney Gift Card hotline. They will not combine cards either.
So it's sort of a pain to deal with all those GC...but for us the money savings is well worth the hassle.
Just need to be a bit OCD with record keeping and your GC.
And as noted KEEP all your gift cards- in case you have to get a refund- as they will credit the original card.
here's a tip for those using DGC on
DCL (cruise)
instead of having to go to guest services on the last day (if you extra money left on your account)
go to the ships gift shop...they sell disney gift cards...and just charge the purchase to your room/ship account. You now have a new disney gift card...and don't have to wait at guest services...or wait for them to credit your original GC.
As some people are posting on the cruise boards they have wait 8+weeks and still not had the money refunded back to their GC.
we keep requesting Target to carry higher limit Disney Gift Cards.
one can only hope that they will listen.
