How do they enforce the ban? Could you make a different account with a different email address?
Sure. But they probably match shipping address, or credit card info or whatever other info they have. They do have a ss connected with red card so it's not that easy i would guess

Well  you were right!! I got banned too!!! And i didn't buy that many as some of you here have. The ban is lifetime too!!

So i can never buy online anymore. Only in stores. Which is kinda difficult for me. What the heck am I going to do with 2k+ in Target cards
Now this makes me very nervous!

That's awful you are stuck with all those cards!!! I wonder if you set up a different account with say with your husband's name not yours, even though same shipping address, but just didn't link your RedCard, if you could at least use your Target gift cards to order the Disney cards? Obviously you wouldn't get the extra 5% but it's better than all of them going to waste? Ugh, I'm so sorry that happened to you!!

I'm so sorry for your situation. I don't understand their reasoning behind the ban??

Do you have a US friend who could help you out in using the gift cards to buy Disney?

Yes i think i will try that. I am kinda upset about it. I can understand they want to limit the gift card purchases within a certain timeframe. But a lifetime ban seems really harsh. I don't understand how a pp could place 11 orders in a row and not get flagged. I never did that many and certainly never that close together

Is there an appeal process. I can demonstrate that I personally used every GC I bought from Target and none were resold.

I may just take my $205 in eBay cards and turn them into something else, even if I have to take a small hit. The thoughts of getting banned suck.

I don't think that's what it is. I have a usa address and also bankaccount for the red card. I've been a Target online customer for over 10 years and have in the past ordered lots of other stuff besides gift cards. This really stinks
What about your IP? Are you using a proxy server, or does your IP show that you're making your purchases from the Netherlands? You have more than $2K in Target GCs right now. That doesn't even bring into consideration the ones that you may have already used to purchase Disney GCs or other GCs. That could be enough to make them wary of your activity if it's being conducted from a foreign IP.

I'm wondering if the ban has to do with only buying gift cards online and nothing else? I have bought a ton of ebay, Disney, & target gift cards over the last 6 + months, but I also buy other stuff from target.com including toilet paper, toys, etc... I'm just wondering if they are looking at your overall pattern of spending...just trying to throw out different ideas, but who knows maybe not.

It just doesn't seem fair they can accuse you of being a reseller, with no proof of doing so, especially if you could just go into the store and buy up the entire stock of gift cards if you wanted to! I guess I'm glad I never really got the full hang of churning and just cashed out my Target to Disney cards as I went so I never had more than a couple hundred in Target cards at one time...if I had thousands sitting in Target cards and then got banned from using them to convert to Disney within weeks of our trip I think I'd have a total nervous breakdown :scared:

I wouldn't panic if you live within driving distance of a Target - you can always convert the cards at face value for merchandise and other gift cards.

You also have the option of selling (at an unfortunate discount) at gift card resellers like Raise & Cardpool, so you would never be out the entire amount.

But it does seem arbitrary and unsettling that they cut off your online access like that.

I wonder that too. I'm a little nervous but I have bought DOZENS of items outside of buying gift cards. In fact, I purchase more miscellaneous items than gift cards but I do spend more on gift cards. I spend A LOT of money at Target- I can't imagine I'd get banned from buying online.

I think most of us knew the gravy train would derail at some point.

I just completed an order for Disney GCs last night. No problem. But I haven't been buying them in mass quantities either. Over the last 2 weeks, I bought $700 in cards. 3 separate orders of $200, $200, and $300. Last summer, I bought nearly $6000 in Disney GCs. I never bought more than one order a day.

Should i get banned, no biggie. I will try a new account. If that doesn't work, I will just purchase what I need in the store.

For those of you who were banned, can you answer a few questions so we might figure out what is flagging you?

  1. Are you ordering from the US. Not just sending to the US but your computer that is placing the order physically resides in the US.
  2. Do you place more than 1 order a day?
  3. Do you add a small, inconsequential item to get the ebates to work?
  4. How long have you been buying GCs from Target?
  5. Do you use your redcard in the stores?
  6. Do you order other items online?

I was just about to place multiple orders for a lot of Disney Gift Cards tonight. I'm unsure what to do now. Part of me is tempted to take some sort of preemptive measure and contact Target to indicate that my purchases aren't fraudulent, nor am I a reseller, but I know that Rule No. 1 is Do Not Call. I love these guessing games.

Maybe I should actually use my card in the store as well. I'm going to Chattanooga this weekend, I'll make sure and pick up something I need or can use!

I could use another computer, credit card, gift card, shipping address, ect, but what about needing the redcard? There's no way around that.

"The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club."

When it comes to internet deals, the last thing that you want to do is call the merchant and complain or inquire or give them any kind of heads-up about your activity. You either roll the dice and take your chances or you get out while the getting is good. What you don't do, is something that draws attention to the deal.

In your situation, I would place a couple of orders, a few days apart. I would NOT order thousands of dollars worth of Disney GCs in a very short period of time. It's bound to draw attention and calling Target customer service is like calling someone on the moon. You'll get the same level of satisfaction.

Believe me, I understand. I should have been more clear. I have no intention of actually calling; I was merely venting as a result of frustration and confusion.

Let the staggered orders begin. If it were you, what would you comfortably max out at? One order with the maximum quantity of gift cards (4 x $50 + 3 x $100)? "Safe" to order another once the previous order's status is 'shipped?'
