Disney Gift Card Deals

I have very little experience in this arena and need some help from you GC experts. We are headed down to WDW on 3/16 and I was going to pick up about $2000 GCs at Staples with my CIC for 5x points. Is there anything I can stack easily to save some money on these transactions? I don't know anything about Dosh/ SB or other stuff that is mentioned here but I'm willing to learn if it can be done in short order or something to work on for the future. TIA

It looks like I can't use the Amex offer to buy a membership ("Not valid on purchases made in-Club, via the Scan and Go app, phone orders or new memberships.")

Could I just buy a $50 Sam's GC online and use that in-store to buy the Disney GC in combination with the 2% back from Dosh? Plus $45 worth of other merchandise to claim the membership discount.

You might have to do split transactions as the terms of $45 state no GC.

Both are relatively easy. However, for Dosh, the most effective use would be if you had a Sam's Club account. All you have to do is register for an account, register your cc with dosh BEFORE you shop, and then purchase in-store at Sam's Club using the registered card. Since you are in the Chase ecosystem, you may want to use Chase Freedom Unlimited to get 1.5% back. Generally you would get 2% back in Dosh, but you can only cash out after you've accumulated at least $25 in cashback.

For Swagbucks, just sign up. Then when you shop at Best Buy, you visit the website on your phone, search for Best Buy on the shopping section, and load your QR code (shop in-store at bottom and get code). Be sure to sign up for the BB rewards ahead of time. After the cashier enters your BB rewards info, then ask them to scan the QR code for Swagbucks. You have to buy exactly $100 to get 7.5% back in bonus points. You have to buy $100 to trigger the 7.5% in points, and you really don't get more than 7.5% even if you buy more than $100 in GC (absent a ridiculous amount of spend), so you should just buy $100 in GC. Unfortunately, you can only do that once per day, so it is impossible for you to do all of the amount before your trip (but you can do some of it). The 7.5% in points will generally show up in your account within 3-4 days. You will also get 2% back in points for the base $100 amount, but that will generally take a month to credit. To redeem, you can choose a paypal, or various GC. Paypal is minimum $25. Also, once per month, you can get a 12% discount on a GC. E.g., an Amazon GC for $25 that normally goes for 2500 points will go for 2200 points. However, there are no discounts for Paypal payouts. As a bonus, you will also get a minimal best buy rewards GC that you can use for merchandise (not GC).

I didn't see anything either. Which wouldn't that mean it should be used as a second card after getting one personal card already?

I would think CIU or CFU since they're 1.5x on everything.

CIU and CFU for 1.5x... :duck:

I wouldn't do Venmo with any Amex.

Thanks! It figures when I finally decide to try out Venmo, CIP 3x would be dead. Don't have the CIU or CFU. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't another card I might be missing that was already in my arsenal.

Unfortunately we don't have a Sams Club anywhere near us. I will definitely check out Swagbucks. Thanks!

How often do the Dosh categories change? I don’t use any of the current ones (unless I start using this new Sam’s membership). Does it give you the 2% back on GC at sams even though it says it shouldn’t?

Not the PP, but just wanted to ket you know that i don't have a Sams near me either, but I just purchased a membership. Paid $45, got a $45 credit and $20 from Dosh. Did it all online. Then I bought a $500 egift card for $484.98 and used a rewards CC. There are better % off deals (I think someone said the 3 pack of $50 cards are 4.7% off), but I needed the card right away since we leave for Disney tomorrow. Also, I will use the membership all year for cheaper GCs (Disney and others). Not sure if that helps you any, since I am not a CC master, but just thought I'd throw that out there. :)

How’d our quotes end up here?
I suspect this was a rhetorical question, but if not...

When you start to type a reply, what you type in the reply box will get auto-saved after a certain amount of time. And even if you switch threads, what’s typed in your reply box will follow you, just waiting for you to post in the wrong thread if you’re not paying attention.

Just an FYI to those with Dosh issues- my $20 credit was pending for 30 days before being denied. I sent them a message and they responded very quickly to tell me they had manually credited the $20 to my account and apologized.

I actually also couldn't ever get the Sam's Club deal to work, so they ended up just emailed me a $45 gift card.
