Disney Gift Card Deals

Thanks, everyone for explaining the fuel points. What’s the visa gift card savings? Can I buy Disney gift cards using the same Visa cards? Thanks again.
You should be able too. Then you're almost earning double fuel points for the same out of pocket. For example:

Buy $100 Visa gift card, costs $105.95 with fee, get 400 fuel points
Buy $100 Disney gift card with the Visa, no additional OOP, get 400 fuel points.

So now you've earned 800 fuel points, or 80 cents off per gallon, for the same $100 spend (instead of 400 points/40 cents). Depending on what you can put in your tank, you usually save more than the $5.95 on the fee. For me I can do about 13 gallons, so that would save me $10.40 on my next tank of gas. And if your credit card gives extra points at the grocery store, you get even more. Every little bit, right?

I am about to cash in some insurance rewards for gift cards and want to double check...
Walmart GC -> disney works
Target GC -> Disney works
Best Buy -> Disney no longer works

Should I be looking for any other store cards to cash in for?

Thanks

I have been told by the manager that you can’t pay for gift cards with visa gift cards so I only do it at self checkout. It works. I think I’m one of the few that has run into that problem.

For me it saves about an extra 2 percentage points. For example, if I bought a $100 Disney gift card with my Amex blue preferred, my net cost would be about $86 ($6 back from Amex plus $8 in gas on a 20-gallon fill up) but if I buy a visa gift card it costs $106, I get $6.36 back from Amex plus $16 in gas. So my net cost is about $84. The savings gets much bigger if you can use more gas.

Ok, this is looking better to me since I have a small gas tank! Thank you.

FYI there is a new sign at my Best Buy warning customers to beware of gift card fraud. They're really committing to this excuse!

I wonder if BB loses money when third party GCs are purchased using discounted BB GCs. If not, why turn away the extra revenue (and maybe even small profits)?

I have good luck using Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards to purchase Disney gift cards. It may or may not make a difference, but I also include a small merchandise purchase in the transaction.

I didn't even realize BB&B carries Disney GCs. I think I checked a few years ago when Amex ran a promo for BB&B and none was available. Maybe it's just the ones near where I live or perhaps they have started carrying it recently.

Where we are you can use more than 1,000 points / fill up but I forgot not everyone can do that. Right now I’m using 2,600 points/fill up since gas is $2.69/gallon or so.
I wish we could use more points here.
Gas has been $2.99 per gallon for the last week and we're only 150 miles from a BP refinery.
We have relatives who aren't within 500 miles of a refinery and they've been paying thirty cents a gallon less.
I guess the price isn't proportional to the distance from the source. :sad2:

If you have an Am. Express cc you should load the coupons to your account. There is currently $10 off $50 at Lowe's and $10 off $75 at any home improvement center. I would get the VISA on both and use Swagbucks QR code for Best Buy to purchase Disney GC's. This will earn you points which can be redeemed for discounted GC or buy a PayPal CG and the money will transfer into your bank account.

Can someone explain how the Kroger 4x fuel points on gift cards saves? If I buy $900 in Disney gift cards today, how much does that save in gas? Thank you.

I never purchase that much in Disney Gift Cards during the fuel promotions. That's way to many points in gas to use. You should break it down to either $250 = $1.00 off per fill up which is a savings of $35. We use two vehicles when we fill up which lasts us about 2 weeks +/-. For this we would do $500 and be set for a month.

Also, we never do these prior to traveling. For example, this Mother's Day promo will give you $1.00 off in gas for June, if they offer this promotion again in June the $1.00 off will go towards July and if you're flying out in July you might loose out on actually saving $35.

Remember Kroger's run these promotions often. If you are in a rush, using your Target Red Card is probably the way to go or a combination of both.

BB&B is very YMMV, so before investing try a small sum. It's been reported many times of issues at some store locations.
Utica & Rochester Hills, MI are not allowing it.

Same state? Taxes make a huge difference.

So I tried this today. I also bought a few groceries that we needed. I went through self checkout and the register wouldn’t let me pay with the visa gift card. The self checkout employee came and said you don’t need to put in a pin, you just press enter. Doesn’t work and the employee asks for my drivers license, she put it in multiple times. The manager came over and didn’t say much, went away to lunch. Eventually it goes through. After it went through and the activation receipt came out, she said oh you got a gift card. I asked if it was ok, she said yes. I was almost sweating at this point. Has anyone had this happen? They want your drivers license in the register?

Washington state gas is in the $3.40s- 3.80s/gallon range. And summer hasn’t started.

Thank you. Yes, after I found out the math, I have a small gas tank which I fill every 7-9 days, it wasn’t worth it for me to buy that much. I bought the $105 visa then used it to buy $100 Disney gc as advised. See above for my experience.
How often do they run the promotions? Just trying to calculate how many opportunities I have until PIF in December. I plan to use the target deal in December as I well.

Maybe the Oil giants think like the Government.
They believe that we are a bottomless pit of available cash at their disposal.
Come to think of it, I believe Disney Management believes that as well..........
How many days do I need to pack my lunch (i.e., eat my kids’ leftovers) to be able to afford my Disney vacation...oh yeah, every day!

Think every holiday, what's next Memorial Day, Father's Day etc. It's random.

Your best best is on Target if they do the 10% off. You should start saving for that now and ask your family to help out when purchasing, it won't matter how many transactions when paying cash.

Keep your eye on this thread as deals are often posted.
