Most of the times the food was good.

We have had very little bad food at Disney. We plan our trip around our favorite restaurants and return there trip after trip.

The only place we will not return because of the food is Ohana. We also will not go back to Sci Fi or Alfredo's, but that is because of lack of service, bad atmosphere, tables too close together, that sort of thing.

Most of the food we've had at WDW has been great, especially breakfast at Boatwrights, it's the best I've ever had anywhere. We also really really enjoyed 1900 Park Fare dinner, CRT lunch, and 50s PTC. The only meal I didn't care for was the Cantina de San Angel. I lived in Mexico and I didn't think it was at all authentic or tasty. Flour tortillas??? Other than that we've had great experiences at all TS and CS meals.

There are two meals that stick out in my mind that were not the greatest:

:sad2: 1. Biergarten--but this was probably 10 years ago; maybe it's gotten better.
2. Sci-Fi. We waited forever--even with ADRs-- and food was mediocre at best. :confused3

:thumbsup2 As for great food, we *love* the clambake at the Beach Club, and surprisingly, the nachos at the ESPN Club are awesome!! :cloud9:

I wonder if much of the problem with people's reviews of WDW restaurants is their expectations. Maybe because the vacation costs so much, and is so long anticipated, that they expect their every bite to be ambrosia, and are crushed when it doesn't transport them to gustatory nirvana.

:thumbsup2 Very well said!

The only time I've thought "eh eh" was at hoop de doo. I truly didn't like the ribs, chicken or strawberry shortcake. I had a lot of salad and corn that night :lmao: and I am just as much at home at Mcdonalds as I am at Bluezoo (try it, its fabulous). I have never had bad service or had to wait a long time so i guess those things have never clouded my judgement against a restaurant. Apart from that one time I have liked everything I have tried at WDW including:

Chef Mickeys
Breakfastasaurus
CRT
PSB (Akershaus)
Crystal Palace
Rainforest cafe
Bongos
Wolfgang Pucks
Planet Hollywood
Earl of Sandwich
Coral Reef
50s Prime Time
Ohana
Boma
Bluezoo
Hoop de Doo Revue

No you are not weird and you shouldn't think yourself so, otherwise that makes me weird too :teeth:

I'm British, we'll eat anything! (Though I've never eaten at the UK at Epcot)

Once in a great while we've had some poor meals--and once in awhile a few "service issues".
But on balance (and after eating at WDW since 1975) I'd say the food and service are quite good!!!

I love food. My days revolve around food on vacation and at home. I have had some really amazingly good food at WDW & some amazingly awful food as well. I'll try any place once & have tried almost every restaurant in WDW at least once. There are a few I will never go back to & a few I would make a trip to FL just to eat at (like BlueZoo)

On the whole, I love the dining experience at Disney. Sometimes the food is good, but not great - but usually the atmosphere, the service & our moods make even the mediocre a good experience. I've had very few really atrocious meals there.

Once in a great while a bad entree, or subpar service, but nothing that would make me tell someone else to "never try that". Since all of our tastes are very different, what I dislike another might actually love! As far as service goes, occasionally a venue makes changes or has a large # of people complaining about service--if I had a similar recent experience I might chime in about it. (Garden Grill changes last summer come to mind). If I received poor service somewhere on a past vacation and others continue to report the things I experienced I will change my ADR since there are so many options available and why chance a poor experience if I could avoid it.

I think you have to put the food at WDW into context. The burger you get at Pecos Bill is basically a theme park burger -since I'm not expecting kobe beef cooked to order, I am not disappointed.

I think the majority of table service restaurants serve good/decent food at expensive prices. For example, I thought my $25 steak at Le Cellier was about on par with a $15 steak from something like the Outback Steakhouse or Bugaboo Creek. Good, but a bit overpriced.

We haven't had anything at WDW that was gross. We have been quite pleased with our dining experiences so far! But having said that, we are pretty basic. We don't eat at high end restaurants at home so we don't have grand expectations.

There are places I purposely avoid based on DIS reviews - 'Ohana and Tony's are the 2 that come to mind, as well as ABC Commissary. 'Ohana has just changed their menu so much that there isn't anything I would eat, and DS probably wouldn't eat anything either. DH will eat whatever is in front of him, so he goes with whatever ADRs I choose.

If I REALLY wanted to try a restaurant I would probably go even if the reviews were bad. We've had dinner at Chef Mickey's and it was fine - I have read plenty of reviews that put it at "inedible". WCC reviews are spotty, but we are going there in August. Coral Reef reviews seem to be better than they were so we're giving that a try, too. Everybody has different tastes, so I figure we might as well try it for ourselves.

I've only been to Disney once, but my family and I thoroughly enjoyed every single item we had to eat, of course, some more than others. All except Shutter's. Otherwise, everything was great! The only thing I would have changed about our trip was the length of time we were there. Five nights and four days, just weren't enough. We dined at Chef Mickey's (breakfast), Donald's, Shutter's, Ohana (dinner), Whispering Canyon (dinner). We had great experiences at each meal. For counter service meals, we ate @ Cosmic Ray's, Flametree, Allstar Sports, ABC Commisary (we enjoyed this too), and Earl of Sandwich.

The only really bad meals we have had at WDW were at Boma's-
it was absolutely awful and France.
I even think the food court food is ok if you know you aren't
getting 5 star dining fare then it's good for cafeteria style food.

IMHO the best: Lecellier, artist point, kona cafe
the worst: sci-fi (have tried twice) Chefs le france (instant tea, slow service and waiter spilled drinks)
There are quite a few places I haven't tried though, such as california grill, victoria and alberts, citricos-- I have heard good things about these, but there is the $$$$$ issue :rotfl2:

Most of the meals I've had at Disney were very good. There've been a few exceptions, but I chalk it up to my having different tastes/preferences. I've never had a meal that I considered inedible at Disney -- yet. Given all the trips I've made over the years, I'm probably due.

DH and I must not be normal. :rotfl2: Food to us is not that important to plan our day around it. Maybe because we live in NJ very close to NYC. Where we can pretty much get any kind of food we want. Also our kids are young and we want to let them dicate the day. Not rush to get to a place to eat.

All of our meals have been good (or great) except for food court pizza.

I have heard so many bad things about the food court pizza! We've never tried it, but after all the bad reviews I've seen on it(no matter the resort) my curiosity is getting the best of me...this will be a must do in October. :teeth:

Otherwise I have never had a bad meal at Disney. The worst meal we had was last year at San Angel Inn, and it was just so so. We love the food at WDW!

Compared to dining out the UK, everything in WDW is a) delicious! and b) extremely good value (yes, even in WDW the food is good value compared to regular eating out in the UK). :thumbsup2

I've never had a bad meal at WDW. Even the CS is nice.
