Disney finally Made Me Mad

Seems to me that a bunch of people had the ability to not get hysterical about the FP+ change WDW made, and adopt a wait and see attitude recognizing that any large scale change to a company's operations (or really ANY large scale project) has a degree of latitude to change, adapt, modify and improve as it rolls out, and that ultimately WDW wants happy and satisfied customers, and furthermore that they have had a very long history of being literally world class in providing entertainment options that produce said customers.

Op here. Count me among the "cautiously optimistic" crowd. I don't think I've posted a single FP complaint in the last 18 months. But this is one change that makes me sad. I hardly think one slightly negative post counts as "hysterical."

One thing I haven't really seen mentioned is for people that don't have FP's scheduled in the park that day because they're saving them for their evening park (which is what we're doing at AK next week). This means that we are not allowed to meet Daisy/Donald at AK because we can't schedule FP. That makes me mad. Would we have visited them if it hadn't been for this? Maybe, maybe not, but I really don't like the idea that I'm excluded from it. Also to mention that again Disney gives hardly any notice of these changes (3days) when they expect me to schedule my rides 60 days in advance. I know I could go rearrange my schedule if the M&G was really that important to us, but to be honest I'm tired of scheduling/rescheduling when they make tweaks to the system. Anyways, vent over.

I actually think a fair number of people were starting to come around to the "cautiously optimistic" front once Disney added the 4th and subsequent FPs......... until this curve ball. And once again, it's not about Pooh.

I'm sure they'll fix that hopping issue....... later. Won't help you on this trip one tiny bit though. :( Just more collateral damage.

This is a thread set up to discuss a change at WDW. It's not here to explain why people complain. Give it a rest already.

I don't recall commenting to you. A poster replied to me. I replied to them. Did you ask that poster to give it a rest or just me because I don't share your view?

Sent from my IPad using DisBoards.

Yeah Planogirl, no speaking unless spoken to first! ;)

I admit I didn't read all the posts, because they were getting me too upset. I also have to admit that I was not a fan of the whole FP+ and I have been on the fence over whether to continue our tradition of going to Disney World every year. But I caved and just booked our trip for this year, because I heard about the additional FP+ options. However, now I'm second guessing myself. Pooh bear is my favorite character, our Christmas tree is all Winnie the Pooh has been for 20 years. We love meeting Pooh and friends in the UK, because there is hardly ever a wait. Of course we typically aren't there during really busy times. But even during spring break times we would wait maybe 15 minutes. And now I read this. I was already going to have to decide between soarin and test track, but now this. Seriously.

I feel sorry for poor Pooh and Tigger who will be there not doing anything for long periods of time, because people won't use FP+ tier 1 to see them for their original set of 3. I also feel sorry for the kids who will show up and get turned away, because they don't have a FP+. And yes everyone does have access to it, but if you are park hopping, then you might not have access to it at the park.

I'm just hoping that Disney will see the error of their ways and change this.

If you're right, they will certainly change it. They aren't going to pay people to be dressed up (and their handlers) if no one is visiting. But I think a few months from now you'll find that Pooh FP+'s will be hard to get.

I don't think I've ever seen Pooh and Tigger at UK when they weren't there basically twiddling their furry hands waiting for visitors. We've seen them mulitple times (up to and including this past Sunday) where there was absolutely ZERO line and we just walked right up. For Minnie at HS I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than 5 mintues to see her. As a mother of a toddler, I don't have any issue having to use one of my 3 FP+ for a meet and greet my daughter will enjoy. And on those days where I might choose Soarin' instead, I don't forsee having too much issue getting a 4th FP+ for Pooh or Minnie over in HS.

I never comment on these posts I usually read them for entertainment. I am like you "cautiously optimistic" I haven't used the system yet, I was more optimistic when they added the chance to add FP later but like you this makes me sad. It also makes me a little mad. Meet and greets are part of admission and we should have the chance to access them without a FP.

I don't forsee it being a problem to get a 4th to meet Pooh & Tigger either. Just don't like the idea of no standby. What if they do this to rides.

Am I reading this correctly? You can only see them if you have a FP+, there's no standby line?
If I have read it correctly, this sucks. And BOOOOO to Disney:sad1:. This is just wrong.

Yes - you are reading correctly...at least thru 5/24.

So, this is just a test through May 24th? Any clue what happens on the 25th? We arrive on the 31st, and I am curious if this will be extended, if there will be no M&G for these characters at all, if it will go back to all SB, or if it will be a mixture of FP+ and SB from the 25th on.

I am guessing nobody knows, but if the The Hub or some other CM with insider knowledge has any insight, that would be fantastic.

I don't think anyone wants to see the rides becoming FP+ only. It's distressing enough to see it happen on a few less crowded Meet and Greets. Honestly though, I think I'm going to reserve judgment. I had a lot of issues and distaste for the FP+ system and felt broken hearted as an AP in how our visits have had to change. But I've learned the benefits of it and how to work with it, and I don't have any current issues. For now, with the three meet and greets that are going to be FP+ only, I don't feel upset because I don't see that change affecting me or my child in a negative way. We don't do those M & Gs too often, and if we want to in the future I feel we will be able to without too much fuss. We can also see those characters elsewhere in standby. If this is the trend for all meet and greets, or all rides and attractions, well, I'll jump off that bridge when I get there, but for now, I think it's experimental, possibly to do with the queues or possibly for budget reasons, or possibly to test the new talking character technology. For now, I haven't seen anything to make me mad, just another change I have to learn to roll with.

Earlier, I said they may require FP+ so that they could customize an interactive experience for the guest. But you brought up a good point. Maybe it IS just a way to control guest flow into the meet and greets and test the talking characters or whatever interactive elements they have planned. After which, the could switch back to having as standby line.

What if....
They do this to all the restrooms
They do this to the parking lots
They do this at the waterparks
They do this at the QS restaurants
They do this for the parades

Yes, lets get outraged at everything that is POSSIBLE at WDW but not PROBABLE.

Besides, Disney's IT is too incompetent to make all this happen. It is amazing that their IT staff keeps the parks running...
