Disney Fantasy -- Mechanical Problems

Aren't they just sent back to where they came from if they are picked up at sea?

If I remember , if they make it to dry land, they can apply to stay in the USA.

If they are rescued or recovered while still at sea they get sent home.

Without seeing the exact wording, it is possible they meant a $200 OBC for the cruise passengers are currently on and a discount on a future cruise.

When back at port, I will post an image of the letter they gave us. The $200 room credit is for the current cruise, and not future a future cruise.

The 20% discount is for future cruises.

I'm onboard now. We will be returning Saturday. My dining room server said we might be a little late into Port Canaveral on Saturday- we are not sailing at full capacity (as the captain told us earlier today). I'm totally bummed about missing CC but it happens.

It should arrive on time actually probably earlier than they were suppose to. A lot of rumors happen below deck. One officer might of said there is a slight chance that we will arrive late. Than you know how rumors get started. The story will change and change.sorry about you missing castaway cay. At least everyone will be able to make their flights. Mechanical things happen but you better believe DCL wants answers and if there is anyone to blame they will be dealt with. hopefully it doesn't cost anyone their job.

For onboard booking, don't they normally give a 10% discount off prevailing rates, and up to $200 OBC depending on length of cruise, plus a reduced deposit (10 instead of 20 percent down) for 7-night sailings? Their compensation here is really only giving 10% more discount than if you booked another onboard, and moves that OBC to the current cruise instead of the future one. So DCL is really only "giving" an extra 10% discount, but conveniently you can book after returning home.

I do feel that anything they give as compensation is generous under the circumstances though, because they are not obligated to give anyone anything. Be it weather or mechanical problems, there is always a chance, however slim, that something may happen on a cruise to disrupt the scheduled itinerary or activities. Let's hope the current problem is minor and can be readily resolved before the next sailing.

This is true however the $200 onboard credit is applied to this cruise for the difficulty not the next cruise like normal. Normally you get 10% plus 200 onboard credit for your next cruise if you book. This time your getting $200 toward the trip we just took and a 20% discount on future cruise . Which is still I think fair enough for me

Pretty sure you will be safe in 9 weeks.

Why?
Why not?

Depending on number of passengers in each cabin, why would a cabin of two get the same as a cabin of four? Should be for each passenger. That's why. If you want to delve deep down. Because I said so. That's why. Lol

Why not? Because they are not required to provide anything at all and the number of people in the cabin has no bearing on missing a port.

Wow, is all I can say. The Fantasy had an event. :scared1:

I am sad and concerned for my favorite vessel. She is in need of care, and I am too far away to hug her, and assist in her restoration. :tilt:

Some rods, bearings, shafts and blades were likely stressed during the Hurricane Sandy event, that possibly finally failed. :duck:

We have missed CC prior and received nothing for compensation.

For DCL to offer 20% discounts and OBC for future sailings to these pax, something must have really gone wrong, besides missing CC.

Perhaps since it was NOT weather, DCL was kind enough to compensate.
Or, current prices are so high, they need to give out discounts aboard to get folks back. :lmao:

DCL ships miss CC all the time and receive no discounts on future sailings.

Interesting

I read more of this event, and perhaps that vibration in the aft may be repaired after all. :duck:

Some have always felt she had a bad prop from the get go. A prop slightlty out of balance. That also could have led to an event.

I was aboard during the Hurricane Sandy event, and I wouldn't discount this current event may be related.

The props and stern were out of the sea every other set of waves, ship running at 4 knots, winds above hurricane force, surface seas 10 m, rogue sets delivered every 20 minutes, at 18m, for 4 hours. Believe it or not. I was there. A Force 12 for a cruise ship. :crazy2: Unprecedented.

After that many more spoke of vibrations in the aft cabins, more than the Dream. :scratchin

Interesting

JMHO

A reminder to those aboard this sailing, often these discounts can be combined with the Onboard Booking Discount. So keep that in mind.
