Disney Fantasy -- Mechanical Problems

We're on the sailing scheduled for Saturday.

We are preparing ourselves for disappointment and not sailing.
I am currently on the Disney fantasy weather this trip from day one has been amazing and smooth. From what I hear it's much better than its been for the past month. The engine problem is actually not the port engine but the port engine drive motor . So bascually what turns the port side prop is the issue. They have a team of crew trying to fix the problem before we even get to port canaveral. However if they are unable there will be a team waiting upon arrival to get it fixed right away I'm being told . We are still clipping along pretty good it's not like we aren't moving. So don't worry your cruise will work out fine. Everyone on the ship is pretty happy about the onboard credit especially because the weather in castaway cay was not going to be completely ideal tomorrow anyways. This is my 6 cruise with Disney and 4th on the Fantasy. Other than the fact we are moving slightly slower nothing at all is different expect the fact we are riding smooth at this speed. Good luck on your cruise this one has been one of my favorites!

Thanks for the update! It's a bit scary to be reading about the issues and possible delays while simultaneously packing for our cruise on the Fantasy in 8 days!

To those on the ship, thanks for the update! I hope you guys have a smooth, uneventful sailing back into PC.

I can't help but wonder if the 20% off would stack with on board booking perks. Probably not, but I wonder.

The 20 percent will not stack or the on board credit.

I hope you have a smooth and on time arrival back to port canerval. I'm sure it won't take that long to fix. Disney will have some really good maintenance people ready to board the ship as soon as they can and fix what is wrong.

Watching this! We are scheduled a week from Saturday...hope it is fixed! We missed CC last year on the Wonder...happened upon a boat with 7 Cubsn men, had to wait three hours for the coast guard and missed our weather window...seas got too rough. It happens but was really looking forward to this year!
What? That is crazy. You missed cc because disney was pulling cubans out of the water?

I have friends on that cruise. I'll be sure to catch up with her when she returns.

We are onboard as well and it has been smooth sailing. A little bummed about not going to CC.

When the Captian announced the $200.00 room credit and 20% discount on a future cruise I was thrilled. A little additional disappointment that the future booking excludes the room credit. Makes it more like 15% off compared to 10% + $200.00 room credit.

All in all, can't complain. The weather is beautiful and there is plenty to do.

By international Maritime laws and regulations ALL vessels are required to offer assistances to vessels/people in distress or danger at sea.

The Master of the Wonder would have slowed and lay nearby the boat with the Cuban people, revaluation the situation and then radio the CG. A CG commander would have been placed in command of the situation.

In this case as the Windex was standing by and awaiting the arrivial of the GC that was what they were told to do.

As I am sure it was a disappointment to everyone on board the Wonder to miss CC,
Saving lives is alot more important.

No it's 20% only not a cent more. This also waves the $200 stateroom credit then normally give with normal onboard booking. But they are giving us 24 months to book at that rate . We don't have to on the ship .

According to the blog, "Letters were delivered to the staterooms explaining the problem and offering guests a $200 onboard credit AND a 20% discount on a future cruise. The offer is good on a 3, 4, or 7-night cruise taken within the next 24 months." It also said that the offer could not be combined with the regular OBB.

Hey-
They could have been unable to dock at CC due to weather anyway. Hope the problem is solved in time for the next sailing.

Without seeing the exact wording, it is possible they meant a $200 OBC for the cruise passengers are currently on and a discount on a future cruise.

I know but it still seems crazy. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that people are purposely going into areas where they think cruise ships might "rescue" them.

Aren't they just sent back to where they came from if they are picked up at sea?
