Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean December 14 2013

Thanks Michelle, I did not realize there was already plans for a gathering embarkation day at 3. Very glad we all get to meet that day too! I have a feeling the 'meeting and greeting' among the board members here will start in the waiting area at the terminal though! My husband and I met a couple while waiting to board the ship and we did all kinds of things together throughout the cruise.

We do the unpacking routine as you do too, but it doesnt take me long, as my DH is more fanatical about hanging clothes and assigning drawer space than me. I usually hang out on the veranda while he does his 'thing'. Another day it is.
As for the girls party, I think afternoon would be better than later at night, some (like me) may not have dining assignments and the like. As we get closer we can make more concrete plans, so for now lets just refer to it as the Pink Party, and plan to have a choice of champagne, virgin and 'not so virgin' cocktails and buckets of fun :)

Sounds great, Christi! Thanks :)

What do you mean dining assignments? Everyone gets main or late.:confused3 you mean maybe palo or remy?
It takes me about an hour to get everything situated in my stateroom. but an hour for lunch, then unload and wander ship, then meet and greet with Dis'ers. We have met people in the terminal too but love taking a picture with all the Dis'ers as a group. Robin and I actually met at the airport before our first cruise...and look where we are now....friends for 3 years now!!!! ..man I should have hid from her:lmao: love you Robin!

Yes, I meant our dining times. Last cruise we were not able to get the early seating. We won't be booking until January unfortunately.

The drink recipe looks delicious :)

We will be cruising with another family as well, their child will be 5 weeks from turning 3 at the time of our cruise. I have never had to use the younger kids' clubs, and I was wondering if she would be able to attend the oceaneer's club as long as she is potty trained. Has anyone had experience with a child out of age range? thanks :)

You have not booked this cruise yet Christi? Hopefully you will get the seating you want. When I go to the DCL website, main seating is still offered for our cruise. So perhaps it will still be available come January.

When I last cruised in '09 my daughter was turning 3 while we were on the ship. They let her go to the Oceaneers club as long as she was potty trained, so I think your friends dd would be able to do so too.

Hi Robin, thank you for the input, that will make my friend happy to hear. I think the kids' club would be more 'fun' than the nursery for a child of Casey's age.
We have to wait until January because I am still out of work from the surgery and all of our play money had to go to recovery time and lost wages, soooo.... as soon as I'm back to work I can start collecting Disney Dollars once again :)
I am not a big fan of second seating, but my DH and I had it our last cruise to Alaska, and it wasn't that bad actually. It was kind of nice to see the shows before dinner, then walk around the decks after dinner (and walk off the desserts lol) then hit the lounge for adult entertainment after.

Thanks for the link too !!! I love party planning, and it's great to have some 'distraction therapy' right now. I'm going stir crazy this week for some reason.
Have a great evening ladies!

Ugh so I have tomorrow and Monday off to get everything finalized for my final exam on Tuesday. But looks like mother nature wants to get involved for the second time this semester.

We just had emergency flash floods about two weeks ago that soaked our town and made national news. Now Jim Cantore is in town due to Tropical Storm Debbie. After many years of living on the coast I have decided if Jim Cantore is in town, it is time to become alarmed.

Did I mention our pool is draining completely right now so we can have our liner replaced on Monday? Man I hope these next few days go smoothly.

i hope all goes well for you Lianne, and that nature moves on without any damages and Jim finds more interesting news elsewhere !
Good luck on your test as well :)

They will allow a 2 yr old that is close to being 3 in the club as long as they are potty trained and they allow them to come and be observed by them. If the child does not cooperate in a preschool style setting and won't sit for events they have they may say they can't come. If under 3 it is all a judgement call on their part. Hope it works for your friend!

Today we had a cut-a-thon at a salon for DD's bff. Everyone comes gets hair cut and donates $$$. $10 min. Today I paid $70 for 1 trim(straight bob...nothing big ) and I got mine chopped. alot for that but all going to our friends who are dealing with so much!! So happy she comes home today! She has been in the hospital since June 10th...2 weeks....finally home!!! Syd is growing out her hair for"wigs for kids". Same as locks for love but locks for love charges for the wigs and wigs for kids gives them to cancer kids for free. Rather give to them. So Syd wants me to find a good vitamin to help her hair grow faster...prenatals....LOL well off to work!

Your hair cuts look great Michelle. I think it is wonderful that Syd wants to grow her hair out for Wigs for kids. What a great cause!!

We booked this cruise!!! Right now this will be our 3rd Disney cruise. IT will be me and my DW!

Welcome aboard!!!!:)

I hope everything did go smoothly. :)

Thanks that is kind of you. :) She was kind to us and made landfall to the east so we didn't have any ill effects from the storm. Since we we had massive amounts of flooding less than a week and a half before, I was extremely nervous.

Sorry I didn't come back and update everyone. It's been a bit hectic worrying about grades, starting new classes, and family issues.

Been a bit stressed waiting to hear what my grade is (comes out on Tuesday). I don't believe I've mentioned it before to the group but I have hearing issues (which makes my job of talking on the phones a bit ironic). Basically if you are talking too quiet I can't hear you at all. The problem I ran into was I followed the syllabus for one of my assignments (and our professor constantly said one thing and wrote another). The professor wanted x pages and no more. He had specific items he wanted to make up three of the pages (table of contents, title page and references) so I gave him 10 pages as requested. He said in class at some point (which I didn't hear) not to include those items in the page count and I didn't know so I did. So I discovered afterwards that I only turned in 70% of the info he wanted. He gave me an 82 on that assignment (which I felt was generous since I lacked so much). So now I'm a bit nervous. I know on the one paper I got an A and on the second I got a B. So waiting to see how our group paper and final exam scored for the other half of my grade. If I made a B or better I get reimbursed from my work for tuition.

As far as family issues, my mother and step-dad have been traveling the country from the past month or so. They were expecting to be back home around late September. They ended up in the hospital two days ago where they discovered that my step-dad likely has cancer. He has a "suspicious mass." With my mom being a doctor she thought with his original symptoms that he was having issues with his appendix. So here they are in WI having to worry about surgery and getting back to FL. They are traveling with an RV and a motorcycle of which my mother has never driven either. Due to the generosity of a member of her particular type of biking group (CamAm Spyders) a person they had corresponded with but never met dropped off a vehicle at the hospital for them to use so my mom can go back and forth between the hospital and the RV. This gentleman is also assisting in getting the motorcycle back to the RV for my mom. So here her husband is ill, has had a few blood transfusions, and needs surgery and they have no idea how they are going to be traveling back. Compounding this issue is the fact that my mother has MS which is why she is a retired physician. She needs to rest daily.

:thumbsup2 Hope everyone has a great Independence Day and weekend. Some folks we know are celebrating already while also vacationing ;) :cool1::cool1:

:hug:Our thoughts & prayers go out to your family & friends. What a wonderful friend!

I'm glad the storm passed you by without any further flooding or damage. Hope the grade is a good one!:woohoo:at least a B:woohoo::woohoo:
