Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean December 14 2013

Hey everyone!!

...I just have worked alot of hours and my daughters bff got diagnosed with cancer...so a lot going on there with setting up benefits , and going to chemo with her. Very emtionally exhausting!!! I won't forget all of you though!!!

I hope there's good news on the horizon soon. :thumbsup2

Well as much as I would like to say that was the case, it sadly is not. While driving home last night my daughters Bff and her father Chris crashed and the bff was flown to major childrens hospital where she must under-go surgery for broken bones. However I am sad to say our friend AKA her father did not make it. Things just got worse. Our friends have so much on their plate with bff's cancer. our family is torn up about it.

So please know I am not ignoring adding anyone to the list , I will probably be away from the DIS for the next 2 weeks. I will catch anything up when I return. thanks for understanding....keep planning, I will jump back in soon!!

There are. no. words...

Our thoughts and prayers are with your families. We...:sad2:are so sorry....

I am so sorry to hear of the latest update. My thoughts and prayers are with both you and the family.

I know it is normal for people to not know what to say after fatal car accidents and while I hate to fit into that same frame, I do. I was in a fatal accident when I was eighteen which completely changed my life (one of the little boys I had babysat for the previous year passed away). It is hard for me eleven years later to see car accidents or smell the powder the air bag releases when deployed.

The reason for my mentioning this is although our natural reaction is to not talk about it and to sort of leave that person alone because we don't know what to say, it is extremely hard on that individual when we do that. To go through something traumatic, have everyone treat you differently afterwards, and sort of back away is distressing. So for your children and yourself to just be there when the family needs to talk will go a long way.

We lost several family members last year and it was very hard on all of us but especially the kids (my grandmother, my cousin, and my father-in-law all within six weeks). It was my final semester of undergraduate and having all of the loss right in a row made it extremely difficult to focus on my studies and work. As the year progressed, my best friend passed away in August. Last year with our family experiencing so much loss it was the reason we took the Disney trip in October and then did both WDW & the Dream earlier this year. I felt like we had to do something to fun so we could begin to enjoy ourselves again because the year was so hard on each of us.

So all of that was to say I'm sorry that I don't have more to say or contribute towards what your family and theirs is going through. However from my experience talking and simply being together will help with the healing process that you will each need to go through.

We just stepped off the Fantasy Sat, but booked this cruise while onboard. I'm still rocking from the ships motion.

Our family is: :santa: Me - Tiffany (also known as Gradysmommy on ebay and etsy), :santa: DH - Doug, :cool2: DS - Grady (13 at time of cruise), and princess: DD Megan (10 at time of cruise).

This will be my 9th DCL cruise, DH 8th DCL cruise and the kids 7th.

I cruised on the Dream last September (Girlfriends only trip) and loved it.

The Fantasy was amazing! We had a blast. This was our second Western and the December cruise will be our second Eastern. We have been to WDW at Christmas, but never seen the ships dressed up.

Michelle - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and hope you are doing OK. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I will fill out the online form shortly. We want to do the FE exchange, Ornament exchange and other fun stuff.

I'm looking forward to chatting and planning with everyone over the next year +.

Hey Tiffany!!!:dance3: So excited you are joining us. Thanks for sending my applique's to me. Some of what you sent we(Robin and I) will be making custom outfits for this cruise. Now I feel the pressure to step it up with our design....ohhh the pressure!!

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. It's been a rough week.
I will go add you to our webpage and then once you submit the form I will fill in all that. How is Megan doing? I hope I am finding her well after the craziness you had months back.
Grady, Sydney(my DD-13 at cruise time) and Gabi(Robin's DD newly 14 at cruise time) will be the same age range.....maybe they will hang. My DD Nelia will almost be 10 at cruise time......Maybe Megan and her will see each other around the ship.

Hey all....I have updated the web page with info and added meet and greets to it as well...all tentively have times set. These will be adjusted about 6 months out once we have navigators to look at.

After the form was made and some of you answered , additional questions were asked.
The following people have yet to let me know if they want to join the Pink Champagne ladies night. Please let me know so I can add you.

I submitted the form - let me know if it didn't go through.

Thank you for asking about Megan. She is much better and we are hoping she will be able to return to gymnastics this week. She has been out since the beginning of March when she went into the hospital. It has been a long few months.

I'm looking forward to seeing the outfits you and Robin come up with! No pressure! I made a cute, "Get on the boat" outfit and a matching one for Megan for our Fantasy cruise. I'll have to see if I can find a picture to post.

We traveled with friends last week, but didn't rebook with them this time, so it will be great to find kids Grady and Megan's age for them to hang out with.

Well, I'd better get back to work so I can pay for this cruise. :rotfl:

Yes I got your form....I saw it after I posted on here.

Can't wait to see the picture. We have "get on the boat" outfits planned for this cruise. We are gonna be really cute but I can't reveal cause it is a surprise!!

Now I might have to make another outfit though..hhmmmmm a whole year and a half to come up with an outfit. Though it is harder the older they get to make custom disney stuff!!

Hello! We took our first Disney cruise Dec. 2011 on the Magic, Western Caribbean and had a blast! Now we're thinking of doing the Eastern on the Fantasy. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if you can access the verandah when the beds for the kids are pulled down? i've looked at several pictures and can't tell if the beds block the doors or not. At this point I'm more inclined to pay the additional $200 or so to experience the verandah but I want to make sure I can sip coffee out there while my kids sleep peacefully!! :) Anyone have any experience in this department?

Thanks!

Jen

Yes - The beds do not block access to the verandah doors. I slipped out on the verandah as much as possible - even watched the ship back into port when we came home. That was sad :sad2:

Good Morning everyone.

So glad to hear that about the verandah. I am so excited to have a verandah this cruise. We have had one before but they make me nervous with the kids so we always went to the Oceanview room. I am sure I will have nightmares per usual before we leave knowing we have a verandah.:rotfl:

Tiffany...cute outfits. I like Grady and his Mickey hands....I am so excited about our boarding day outfits....but I just can't tell ya. Man , robin is gonna have to shut me up cause it will be hard to go a year and 1/2 without telling. There will be about 14 of us looking so cute...;)

I better get some laundry done and I won't do that on here:confused3 TTFN

Ok so everyone knows we have the facebook page, to make sure it stays private to our cruisers I have to approve people asking to join. Based on the info I have that you all have provided I don't have a Christi so can someone tell me if I missed that? Cause I have a Christi asking to join our FB page. Thanks much!

I totally recommend getting the balcony. We had one for our last cruise and for this cruise. It does not block the doorway. I loved sitting out there at night and looking at the stars and listening to the ocean. Ahhh....wish I were there now!!!!:goodvibes

Greetings to everyone!
I am Christi, (the one you are asking about Michelle :) I am new to the DISboards, although I have read different articles and advice from here over the years. My husband and I have decided to take the Dec 14 2013 cruise and I was thrilled to find this board of cruisers!!

I read most of this thread last night, and followed the links to join the group on FB and the website (super nice btw Michelle) but was too tired to make it to page 19 of the thread at 2am, so I am posting my first note this morning.

The family members accompanying us are still deciding on whether or not they will be joining the cruise but so far it is myself and my husband (both age 45), our three adult children (DDs will be 28 and 24 and DS will be 26 holy cow !!) we have permanant custody of our two nephews, both mild special needs, ages 14 and 16 when we cruise. Also joining will be a dear friend and her husband and child, age 2, my sister and her husband, and hopefully some of my husband's family (possibly 6 more)

This will be my 5th DCL cruise, we have sailed with Disney for two Land / Sea packages, a 7 day Western Caribbean, and last year my DH and I went to Alaska in July. For this one we are still in the raw planning stage, but all your input and ideas have me pumped to get moving on the plans!!

Lianne, I was inspired when I read your posts too, about how you chose to walk the gangway to the ship instead of graduation. I too have made the same choice !! I am in college now and ( God willing) when I finish it will be the week of the cruise, and the college's graduation is scheduled Sat Dec 14 at 11am. Given the choices I'd MUCH rather walk on the ship than across a stage !! (althouh my family disagrees). Perhaps we can wear caps and gowns and board the ship together !?!

I look forward to getting to know all of you, participate in the Fish Extenders ( I was very curious about those stateroom thingies I have seen in the past, now it all makes sense !!) and all the other great things that sailing with friends can bring !!

Welcome to our fun little bunch Christi:grouphug: Glad to have you joining us! I think that is an awesome idea for you an Lianne to wear your caps to board the ship. Then you can have your embarkation picture taken with it on and that can be your graduation photo!!!:goodvibes

It will be fun getting to chat with you over the next year and a half:)
