Prepping for snow armageddon up here in New England -- at least that's what the media's making it sound like.

How long until we're all in the Caribbean?

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

It does sound quite awful. I hope Nemo is gentle on everyone and doesn't like up to the hype surrounding it.

Yikes! I am SO behind on the boards--I don't even remember where I left off the last time I was here :scared1: Looks like you guys are MUCH more chatty than my last group, so I'll have to stop in more often. I've been waiting to see if the FB group becomes more active.

I've started on my FE gifts and cannot wait to give them out! How many staterooms will it max out at?

It was pretty bad. We live on an island with three towns and virtually everyone is without power. Our son used to be on a special, strict medical diet and so we bought a generator for his food two years ago. So grateful for it now as our pellet stove can be run for heat. That's the problem right now....no power =no heat for most people. Warming shelters are opening later today ... Once roads are clear.

That sounds horrible! Hope it clears up soon. Glad to hear you guys have a generator to help with keeping you warm but what is a pellet stove?

It's like a wood burning stove, but burns little pellets that look like rabbit food. It's doing a decent job of heating our house. But it's going down to single digits tonight.... Only shelter /warming center on island will hold 500 folks....there are 40,000+ customers w/o power in our local community. :(.
Just think warm thoughts for those people! Friends are coming over to camp out in our living room!
Three cheers for the line workers who are doing everything they can do!

So we're back in the land of electricity! :thumbsup2

I spend a couple of the snowed in days talking with my TA and we decided to stay on Disney property pre-cruise! Even though I've been to WDW several times, I've never stayed in a Disney hotel. We chose the Port Orleans French Quarter --- is anyone staying there or nearby? I liked the fact that it had a fun pool and was close to DTD. Especially if we decided NOT to do the Christmas Party.

We are close to the 10 month point, guys!

Crying out loud if we book another onboard, I cannot book something so far in advance -- the almost 2 year long wait is killing me!!!

I missed this! Hope you are having a great time, Michelle!!!!

Hi Beth! I am staying on property. But we are staying at All Star Music. I have always wanted to stay at POFQ. The pool does look very cool. We did think about staying at a moderate, but because it is Christmas time and I will probably be broke:) It is best we stay somewhere cheap. LOL
Do you think you are going to do a park on one of the days before the cruise? We are doing the party, but are trying to decide what to do with the extra day. Maybe EPCOT or maybe Cirque du Soliel. I have always wanted to see that show. It looks amazing!!!

Hi Robin!
I have to say -- I got overwhelmed looking at all the resort options! I get it about the CHEAP factor -- which is why we probably won't do a park. It's hard to justify the cost/day of the one day pass. :sad2: If we did, it would be EPCOT....would love to see it decked out -- and don't they have a candlelight concert or something?
Where is Cirque du Soliel? DTD, right? I honestly have fun just hanging out in DTD! And the kids do too!

Still it's all fun food for thought!!!

To be honest, we may just end up at DTD and wandering there for the day. I love hanging out there too. Cirque is located in the West End of DTD (I think). But ya know what...that show cost 100 bucks a person for a good seat, so I will just end up dreaming about it:laughing:

It is funny to me that you mentioned the concert at Epcot as an incentive for going there. Our high school chorus used to perform in that every year and for a Disney junkie like me it was amazing to be there.

I'd have a hard time picking which one of the parks to go to as well. I would love to see the show at Epcot as I have never just seen it, the lights at Hollywood would be exciting, but I think seeing the castle all decorated with the lights would be the top one for me. So basically the Animal Kingdom is the only one I wouldn't be considering as a special holiday treat.

Problem is that I won't know my school schedule until Fall so I'll have no idea how many days if any I can head down in advance. I'll need our schedule for finals before I can make any plans.

We enjoyed POFQ. It was our first on site experience as paying adults. We didn't use the pool at all though as we were always heading to the parks. In fact it was last year right after we got off the Dream. I <3'd that they let us check in at like 9am right off the ship. I thought that was really awesome. That being said it didn't feel Disney like enough for me. I enjoyed our more recent stay at Pop Century more as it was more Disney for me.

Last cruise we stayed two nights at all star movies. The kids loved. The resort. We went to Magic Kingdom for one day. I won't ever buy tickets for one day again. The cost is outrageous. And the kids just wanted to go back to the hotel and swim. This time we are staying at animal kingdom lodge. I booked a DVC rental and the price was not much more than value. We will spend our day hanging out at the resort and visiting downtown Disney. There are so many free things to do at Disney and with little ones (3 & 7) they won't want to stand in lines at the parks. Can't wait!!!

So now that they have announced the new cruise ports (:yay:Yay for Southern Caribbean) is anyone thinking of jumping ship? I want to see the Fantasy all decorated at Christmas, so for us, we are staying with this cruise.
I did give Michelle money to book a dummy cruise for me while she is on her current cruise. I am hoping she books the southern for me. I guess I have to wait til she gets back to see if she could hear my prayers. LOL

Do you want us to jump ship? Lol.

I am debating adding a western Caribbean but Alaska is always calling my name. Wish I booked a dummy date on our last sailing.

I recently booked us on a carnival sailing for January 2015. But with carnivals issues this week I may abandon that idea. Not many options showing for early 2015 yet. I figured we had this sailing for this winter so I was looking for one for the following winter. I don't want to sail during hurricane season again. Ugh.

You guys are funny!

Although I'd rather go sooner, I too want to see the ship all decked out for Christmas.

But we've already decided we want to do one in 2014, at least that's the plan. Was going to book for my 40th, but that's not until 2015.....egads! I can't do the wait again!!!! I am wanting to do either Southern or Western, so will be looking at prices. Do you guys think we should wait until we are on board to book one for the FAll/Winter 2014, or book beforehand? I'm guessing the southern will be popular, so we're fine with the Western too. We are totally flexible on dates -- can go anytime, so really just want the best bang for the buck.
Thoughts?
