Disney Fantasy ~ December 22, 2012 ~ 7 Night Western Caribbean

I also have DD who will be 19 and DD that will be 13 (a few days before the cruise). :thumbsup2

I'm so glad to hear you have a daughter who is 19! When we went on the MR Thanksgiving Cruise last year, I felt so bad for my daughter. She kept going to the 'college club' meets and NO ONE showed. It was just her. We tried to spend as much time as possible with her so she didn't feel lonely. But it's an awkward age when there's no kid's club to help break the ice and meet people. She'll actually be celebrating her 20th birthday while we're on the cruise.

I will be 21 when the cruise happens so I will be around the same age!!! We can be friends :) as long as she is Disney Crazy hehe

Noelle, we had the same problem last New Years on the Dream. DD had just turned 18... so she was to old for the teen club but to young for the college group. At night the college group was heading to the 'night clubs to drink & dance'. :headache: Which she was not old enough to go and do. DCL needs to create something for the 18-20 year olds. ;)

Disneycruising - Totally, agree...They should have something for that in-between age. At least this time, I know of 2 people in her age group so when she heads off to all the 'college club' meets she hopefully won't be alone. I know it wasn't funny at the time...But we laugh about it now. She'd show up to the restaurants for the college club meet and greets and the server would say, 'Oh, it looks like it's just you.' She would joke around and she'd introduce herself as 'The College Club'.

Agent555, the one thing I can definitely say about my daughter is that she is Disney Crazy. What's that old saying?...The nut doesn't fall far from the tree. :goodvibes

Sitting in MCO right now, just off the Fantasy for the first time. I am sure that I will come up with other details to share and I am available for questions.

To stay on current topic, the 18-21 club certainly appeared active and they looked like they were having a good time. We had no one in it but bumped into it several times. Their main hub was O'Gills. Don't worry about a bar room feel. DW and I felt very comfortable in there. It is more like a sports pub. However, the group was far from limited there. They were dancing in the tube and active in trivia.

Oops calling us to board now. Talk more later.

Cant wait to hear more about the Fantasy...:listen:

Went out last night with our :santa:DCL friends... Had a great time..

105 degrees in STL today..:furious::eek::firefight

Anyone else see the specials they are running on the Pixar cruises out of Cali?? Fairly reasonable... Thoughts... I know its only in September.. but..:confused3

Does anyone know what the changes in the boording assignments are? I am staying at BCVto use points and like everyone else in a dis resort you are at the mercy of when your bus shows up.

Just back on Saturday. Awesome trip.

We were staying at WL pre-cruise. We were told to meet in the lobby at 1130. There were 2 buses. One family got on a full bus and went straight to PC. We started a new bus that went on to POR and filled up there. We were on the ship by 130 which is when the rooms opened up. We dropped off our carry on and went to lunch.

In the terminal we were behind about five families to check in. It went quickly. We were told that we would have been assigned boarding #3 but it didn't matter because they were already at general boarding.

Some observations from our trip:

Surprised to find Brent the cruise director a little annoying. Never felt that way before about a CD. He was awfully verbose going on and on during the stage shows and daily announcements. In his defense never spent any personal time with him but not even his Aussie accent couldn't save him for DW.

Sports fans will love a new mock draft game that they play in O'Gills. They cover baseball, basketball, and football. Using IPads given out to teams you select players to fill out your team within a budget.

New AP show was awesome. It certainly seems like they use everyone's drawings. The time to draw for the show did have an unfortunate affect on dinner however. They have one appetizer, take it or leave it and bring it out to everyone. It consisted of 3 small seafood samplers. Not great for us. They have one optional soup. Entree choices were pretty standard but dessert was limited to Baked Alaska or Sweet Temptations sampler consisting of a tiny piece of celebration cake and 2 small chocolate based desserts. After a routine of good selections all trip, this limited menu caught us off guard.

Rainforest was divine.....I mean we hated it and no one should even think about using it....some secrets have to be kept.

My son loved the Vibe. A nice surprise was that it wasn't because of video games but rather because of activities and social opportunities. From his stories I am impressed with the Vibe CM.

Satellite Falls is nice but windy most of the time.

Muppets was fun but prepared for a workout that takes you all over the ship. Might be nice time to deliver the FE and kill two birds with one stone.

I'll do my best to answer any questions.

Do you like the bigger ships or the little ones? I love to hear the discussions.. original two vs the new two..

5 months from today is Christmas

Sorry for the weak answer but they both have their strong points that make them both great. The technology of new ships is unmatched. Europa is the best looking adult section yet. AP is better on the new ships and EG is better than PC. On the other hand I found the smaller ships more social. Route 66 was more comfortable for events like trivia but the sports mock drafts on the Fantasy were unmatched for me on the Fantasy.

Hello! :cool1: We are booked on the 12/22/2012 :santa:cruise but are trying to decide to keep it or move to a Summer 2013 cruise instead! We have DS 18, DS 16 and DS 14. :grouphug: and of course Mom and Dad. DS14 wants to go to WDW instead of a cruise because we haven't been to WDW since he was 9. Decisions, decisions and only weeks to decide! I'll keep reading your posts and maybe that will sway me one way or another! Good to see so many good things posted about Fantasy and I'm glad other teens are going!

Hello! :cool1: Decisions, decisions and only weeks to decide!

Ahoy! pirate:

There was some brief discussion about reasons to and not to do the :santa:pirate:... The Christmas Cruise is very addicting... its now our family tradition.. :cloud9:

The Christmas cruise will probaly be a lot more expensive then the cruise you are pricing in the summer.. :teacher: Don't know if that matters or not.. but just a thought...

Again.. Welcome aboard.... :)

We just signed up for the Christmas disney Fantasy cruise. I'm so exicited! My whole family is going (myself, my husband, my son 4 years old, my sister, her husband, their 2 year old son, and my mom). I see there is a facebook group. Can anyone join? Thanks! Donna

Welcome!

Please put us down for the FE....room no 8551. Our DD-20 and DS 18 will be in the room. My sister's family is alsoo coming with two smaller children, but they are staying in concierge, so I am not sure how that works, but they love to do FE as well. Can't wait for December..

Welcome to all new arrivals to the Inaugural Christmas Fantasy cruise. Glad to have new FE participants, we have a small group so far. Our Dis group seems bigger in the FB world. Joe has organized the FE and FB. Both Dis and FB were more active in early spring. I think once summer passes, activity will increase again. I am not in FB so I enjoy seeing activity over here but DW is in FB group. I asked her to point out to them that we have some requests over here to acknowledge.

Please PM me the info. It is the easiest way to keep track of it.

For the concierge I am not sure how it works since us "common folk" :) can't get past the golden gates :) Anyone have ideas how to deal with this??

Joe

Unlike the Dream, The Fantasy doesn't have gates from my recollection.
