Disney Fan on Facebook?

I just joined Facebook yesterday in order to "supervise" my teens on there. Anyway, I saw there were all kinds of Disney products you could be a fan of. Is there any benefit to becoming a fan of say, Disneyland? Or any other Disney product. Do they give you special offers? Anyone here a fan of one of these?

Budgie! You finally joined Facebook! There are bunches of us DISfolks over there - you should come on over and 'friend' us all and join in the fun.

I am a 'fan' of pretty much everything Disney-related I could find on Facebook (as are the other ladies from the DIS), and PhotoPass is good, as they will sometimes send out little discounts exclusive to Facebook users. Otherwise, Disneyland and the various other Disney-related pages that we all belong to send out cool little bits of trivia and info that we wouldn't know otherwise - for example, become a fan of "Disney by the Numbers" - that is a really interesting page. Anyone who is a fan of Disneyland and Disney would love some of these pages as the info is so interesting!!

I'm still learning my way around on there. I feel like a complete newbie! I don't really know what I'm doing. But I did find a way to put up a few photos from Disneyland- priorities, you know. Are you all Dis board fans or how does that work? I'll go look at some of those Disney things now.

Yep. We are all fans of the DIS on Facebook. We are all on there under our real names, though. But once you get to one of us and 'friend' us, we can "suggest" friends to you (we can also "suggest" pages that you become a fan of - in fact, I just sent out a whole bunch of those Disney-related page invitations on Facebook the other day). I received a lot of friend requests from many of the Diva ladies at one time, but since they were all using their real names, I wasn't sure of who all was who from here (the DIS)!!! So I had to ask Courtney (Prettyprincessbelle) to break it down for me and match the Facebook names to the DIS names, so I knew who I was chatting with on Facebook!!! Once you become friends with anyone on Facebook, not only can you 'friend' any of that person's friends, but you can also see all the pages they are fans of or the groups they are members of (for example, many of us belong to the GCH group), and you can join too, or, as I said, we can send you the invitations/suggestions.

I have some DLR photos up on FB, but actually not as many as I should have up, because I have been posting a lot of other, non-Disney pictures for other groups of people on my friend list on Facebook. That's a funny thing about FB - you find that "worlds collide" and you end up with all kinds of people from different facets of your life all combined together in one list, and it can be kind of funny and surreal at the same time! For example, I have a whole bunch of people from my old Sunset Strip days (when I used to work for Poison and run in that crowd) on my FB friend list, mixed in with ex-boyfriends, mixed in with all kinds of people from the DIS, mixed in with all kinds of old school friends from my early teenage years, mixed in with some work-related friends, mixed in with other groups of friends - and it is one big mish mash! As I said, it can alternately be funny and surreal, to see everyone in one place!!

It is very overwhelming! I'm seeing these worlds collide as I have mothers of twins moms friends mixed in with my sons friends who actually asked to friend me so I did! Seemed like a good way to keep up on what their friends are doing. I'll send you a pm.

I'm another one who's probably a fan member of anything Disney related, including various websites. I haven't seen much along the lines of discounts, or anything like that, but pretty much any updates you see on the various sites, they let you know on their FB page as well, if not earlier. Plus, often they'll have personal updates and photo's etc. I check them all out from time to time. Plus, Disney has official Disney sites which are nice for keeping updated.

Well I just became a fan of Disneyland and The Dis. I'll keep looking to see what else. I just didn't know if I would get overwhelmed by signing up for too many things. But I'm getting the feeling that is just what happens!

You're welcome! And thanks for adding me too! Glad you enjoy the ancient pictures! I haven't even gotten around to adding anything recent photo-wise on Facebook yet. I had all my recent DLR stuff on MySpace - and that was a task in and of itself to load all those pictures with this slow PC on MySpace. Then, all of my friends decided to migrate over to Facebook, and on Facebook I found all of my old '80s/Sunset Strip/Poison people, so I got in the habit of adding those old pictures (Facebook gives me soooooo many problems with photo uploading) to please that whole bunch. So I am tackling the photos in waves - adding different bunches of them at a time, from different decades and phases, to please different groups of people - as I said to Pink Budgie - worlds collide!!!

Zeitzeuge - you take such amazing photos (given what I have seen here on the DIS), so I can't wait to get a look at whatever you must have posted on Facebook. I haven't had time to look yet, but I bet you have some good stuff!

Of course I remember you! I didn't realize that it had been that long since you were last around, but now that I think of it, I guess I haven't seen you post in a while. The last I remember was something about you sending Pixiewings71 some packets of sauce, or she sent them to you or some such thing - I know condiments were involved somewhere a long the line!!

Okay, about Facebook...as I'm sure Zeitzeuge can confirm, you start off by joining the obvious Disney pages that you think of off the top of your head (Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney's PhotoPass Service, Disney Store, D23, etc.), and then from there, you get stumble upon or get invited to join other pages and you end up on things like Disney Family, Disney Living, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney Sea, each one of the 4 theme parks and both water parks in WDW, etc. I joined the group or the page of every WDW hotel I could find on Facebook, and I joined the group for the GCH at DLR as well. I also joined Mimi's (because so many folks go there who visit DLR), Build-a-Bear, Rainforest Cafe, LaBrea Bakery, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, etc. - lots of stuff in DTD. I joined the Disney Character Outlet/Warehouse page. There's also Disney-Pixar, which is great, there is just plain "Disney," the Walt Disney Family Museum, etc. Oh, and the DisneyFoodBlog is a great page too!! There is also a page for Downtown Disney. There is Mouse Planet, MiceAge, Mousesavers, Stitch Kingdom, Laughing Place, etc. And don't foget to join the DIS on Facebook too!!

And then, you stumble upon little gems that not all that many people know of, such as "Disney by the Numbers," or "DAP News" or "The Relocated Tourist," etc. These are pages that send out interesting little facts or bits of info that any avid Disneylover would want to know.

I have lost track of all the pages or groups that I joined. I know I inundated some of my DIS-er Facebook friends with invitations to join things (most of them joined), but I think I ran out of pages to join for a while. You get a LOT of info coming into your news feed, but lots of it is really good, interesting info so it is worth cluttering up the page!!

If you'd like, you can friend me on FB and you can either go in and look at my Pages and Groups and join whichever ones you want to join, or I can inundate you with invitations to join all these different things!!

Okay, I typed up a list of all the Disney-related Pages and Groups I belong to on Facebook - there are lots of others I have not joined. In fact, Zeitzeuge has a few that I am not on yet!

What I did was type them exactly as they are listed/spelled on Facebook, lower case or all caps, punctuation and all. What you see here is the exact way you will find them on Facebook. Also, if there is a 'The' at the beginning of the listing, I included it (as in The Walt Disney Family Museum, for example). It's better to have the exact listing so that it is easier for you to find on Facebook, because sometimes there are similar listings. If I listed something twice - like you will see the word 'Disneyland' twice - it's because there are two different pages for it, both of which I belong to and both spelled the same way.

I included some of the Downtown Disney shops (Basin and Build-A-Bear, for example) and restaurants (like Rainforest Cafe and Jazz Kitchen), and I included Mimi's Cafe and Anaheim GardenWalk as well. Sorry I did not have time to copy and paste the links for each Facebook page/group for you, but at least this is a start for what to look for. Maybe I can get the links eventually and add them here.

What is the difference between a fan page and group? I joined the Disney Addicts group but just not sure what it means.

Ooooh! Good thinking about the Lego store! I am sure they must have a FB page. I didn't even think of them. Some things like Naples didn't have a FB page. Disneyland Hotel does not have a FB page or group, from what I gather. Marceline's didn't have anything. Some of them were just not listed at all.

I will try to eventually get the links to the pages for all of these listings, and post the links here so that other DIS-ers can access them more easily, but not enough time to do that right now, as slow as my PC is!

As for your question about the difference between the groups and the pages - hee hee! I am not sure!!! Like why is there a GCH group but not a page? I have no clue. Some of them were broken up into pages and others were groups only - and then some have both pages AND groups, as you can see!

Oh, also - I know you like the See's peanut brittle right? Or was that Lavender Peach? I also joined the See's Candy page on FB, though that is not Disney-related.
