Disney eliminates outside vendor drop off/pickup services. Must meet vendor for drop off/pickup (mobility devices only so far it seems)

Nope. Bell services are there primarily to assist with valet and baggage. Some additional duties (like taking deliveries) are reasonable. When the sheer volume of additional duties become basically unmanageable, it's not surprising some changes were made.
The equipment is large and expensive. It's not unreasonable for renters to have more responsibility in the process.
I worked as a bellman in college, but sure you know the job better than me. We accepted and stored all kinds of different items for our guests. Some of those were ECVs and wheelchairs. It was a casino hotel and we had a lot of seniors staying there that required them.

Currently, the difference between other hotels/resorts/casinos and on-site accomodations at WDE is the tremendous volume of the additional duties. They demand lots of time, and they demand lots of square footage.
Was your bell team regularly responsible for dozens of ecv's being delivered and picked up each day, 7 days a week? While at the same time handling cases and cases of water and many large individual grocery orders? And were you able to manage all the additional duties while providing valet service and assisting guests as they drove up needing help with bags?
I totally understand how you could juggle a few extra duties each shift at a casino hotel, but that isn't the situation that has caused the need for changes at WDW.

When I worked it was more wheelchairs than ECVs Probably about 60-65% at the time were wheelchairs, but there were a lot of them. I still know people that work there and it is almost all EVCs now.

We moved cases upon cases of beer, crates of liquor bottles/wine and kegs of beer for bachelor/bachelorette parties. Sometimes had to escort the entertainment for those parties to the rooms. Had to set up the transportation for a lot of those parties when they decided they wanted to hit the town. We had food deliveries we had to make to rooms. We had guests for who we would basically set up a whole buffet line in their rooms.

We had to do stuff the bell staff at Disney doesn’t like get sporting event tickets, concert tickets and getting people into fully booked restaurants. That stuff could often be the most time consuming stuff.

Which casinos don't provide catering services but expect he'll services to handle this instead?

Which casinos don't offer Concierge services?

Did you also arrange the rentals? When I inquired, Bell Services where I was staying set up the transaction. It would only make sense that they store the equipment. That's different from transactions at Walt Disney World.

People often don’t want to use hotel catering and the concierge isn’t the only one that will score guest tickets or reservations. When I was working the tickets were one way you could make yourself some serious extra cash if you would hustle. That pay off isn’t as good today as it was then with all the ticket sites.

I never arranged a rental but the hotel arranged some of them.

Sorry what? Scooterbug offers just 1 single stroller option, and 1 ridiculous tandem stroller option.

What is Disney thinking?

Yeah, those strollers are not good. Will be sticking with Kingdom, we’ve had good experiences with them each time we’ve used them and they have great strollers.

No

I'm still sticking with Gold Mobility. Just looked on line at their website. Scooter for one week, they list as $161, canopy (Gold Mobility offers for free) $40. Rear basket (Gold is free). They are $20.

Careful. No mention on website of cost of liability insurance!!!!

Just a short question. Does this new policy affect such things as deliveries from places like Turner Drugs, too? The cough medicine I needed was delivered to the front desk of the Poly while we were out, will that be changing too?

No

Gold Mobility seemed to have a very nice product! I take note of each ECV I see in the parks and GMS always looked pristine with a bunch of accessories. Nice to hear the price is reasonable in comparison to Scooterbug.

not only is the price excellent. Their scooters are adjustable. I have a lot of pain some days and was able to adjust the back (it reclines a little). It just was an overall comfortable ride. I told my daughter, I never could afford a Cadillac, but I felt like I finally got my "Cadillac"!!!

A website just posted ScooterBug will become the exclusive mobility device provider for Walt Disney World Resort.

https://*****.com/2019/09A/update-scooterbug-named-exclusive-provider-for-third-party-mobility-devices-among-third-party-delivery-policy-changes-at-walt-disney-world/

I wonder if this is a rumor or true?

UPDATE: ScooterBug Named Exclusive Provider For Third-Party Mobility Devices Among Third-Party Delivery Policy Changes at Walt Disney World

Starting October 1st, 2019 ScooterBug, the company that provides all of the mobility devices (EVCs, strollers, and wheelchairs) across Disney’s theme parks and Disney Springs will become the exclusive mobility device provider for Walt Disney World Resort. What does this mean? If you choose to rent a device that is not from ScooterBug, you will have to work directly with the provider to get your device. Only ScooterBug devices will be handled by Cast Members, for deliveries and returns, without guests needing to present.

This, of course, comes from a week of changes to all third-party deliveries. Recently, Garden Grocer came out with a statement that they will not be affected by the changes, but other popular companies such as Instacart and Amazon Prime have remained quiet.

All orders made before September 30th, 2019 will be honored.

Just took a look at the scooter bug strollers. They charge the same rental fee as Kingdom but the strollers are much, much cheaper. They were probably hurting for market share compared to their competitors so Disney snapped them up. And now anyone who wants convenience gets to pay the same price for an inferior product.

I just looked at Scooterbug’s website. The ECV’s have a battery life of 5-6 hours?!?!? Buena Vista’s have about 18. Will the parks give you a loaner while you’re waiting to recharge? Or will they soak you the $50 to rent one of theirs while you wait. Will Scooterbug get better machines? So many questions. Guess I’ll wait and see. But I may be spending my last on-site stay for awhile. Since I’m local- only means they won’t get much money for F&W since I won’t try any drinks if I have to drive home. Again, less time in parks will= less money spent in the parks., which is what we used to do anyway. Time will tell.

I’m also interested to know how this policy affects the delivery of goods (not groceries that require cold storage) from Amazon, etc. Seemed to be part of the initial rumor, but conversation has shifted to ECVs/strollers.
