Disney eliminates outside vendor drop off/pickup services. Must meet vendor for drop off/pickup (mobility devices only so far it seems)

I consider myself a bit of a stroller aficionado and just looked for fun - those strollers are indeed the worst.

Makes me wonder if the choice in company was intentional..."Here's your dedicated stroller provider...that has 3 strollers...and no bells and whistles. BUT you can pick it up from bell services!"

I believe what you saw, I've seen it too and there are pictures here on the boards. But I also believe there are way more than that number getting delivered directly to the guest. The non-featured vendors have stepped up in the past, modifying their business model to deliver directly to the customer, and I firmly believe the 3 "featured" vendors who are losing that status will do the same going forward.
Based on what I saw parked outside rooms to charge on multiple trips, I don't think that's the case. 90% are from the 2 main vendors that deliver to bell services.

They don’t *need* to supply non-preferred vendors with anything. All of the vendors who weren’t on Disney’s list of featured vendors managed to deliver to their customers just fine without blocking porte-cochères or requiring parking lot space to conduct business.

I don't think that you understand what I am saying. I know that others delivered without being "preferred". That only means that Disney took delivery of it themselves. But with them cutting this, people are still going to be ordering from these dropped companies so now you have to add those to the list of others that meet with their customers. I have seen these being delivered many times and they bring them in a box truck. I would rather them have a space off to the side of the parking lot then have these box trucks along the drive.

You really believe that Disney is going to allow these companies to set up shop on their property - when Disney isn’t seeing a dime from them - just because the company chooses to drop off and collect equipment in mass quantities rather than scheduling drop-offs and returns with individual customers?

I don’t.

But many vendors have already been doing that for several years now, and it hasn't been the "nightmare" that people are predicting.
Yep. Randy's Mobility all along. All the full-featured vendors since 2012. With Scooterbug as the official vendor, only three companies will have to adapt.
I imagine that they can have an employee at the resorts to meet with their customers.
I've seen the negative thought on this, but I think it's a great idea.
There are stroller rental companies which will deliver and pickup from MCO. Might be another option.
Kingdom Strollers is setting up a DME-convenient counter right at the airport.
But will Disney allow them to just loiter around the resort waiting?
They allow others to. Plenty of people loiter in the GF lobby to listen to the music.

I think that it would help with the amount of box trucks coming in and out. And this isn't setting up shop, it is having a place that is out of the way for these companies to drop off/pick up. I guess they might already have that. There has to be a representative at the resort at the time of delivery/pickup anyway. Might as well have them hang around if the next delivery is going to be within the next half hour anyway.

I think typically that's because they're delivering to customers at different resorts in one trip.
Actually, many of the scooter models cannot be carried in anything else. Only the ones listed as portable can be broken down for a car, and anyone over about 250 lbs cannot ride those.

It would exactly be setting up shop. And as far as providing an out of the way place, that is basically how it is set up now, with the exception of having their own attendant there. NO WAY is Disney going to allow them to have their employees on site all day every day with a fleet of scooters. Too much liability, and it cuts into Disney's business.

Kind of unknowable today.
I have to believe Disney wants the large equipment moved quickly, rather than sitting around for hours in long, snaking lines. It will be interesting to see how this issue evolves and how Disney adjusts.

It would not utilize Cast Members or Disney's storage space.

Not really. The luggage storage area and the side of buildings, or wherever else Disney stores them for the next 11 or so hours aren't out of the way. Any financial transaction would still be done in advance. No actual business would be transacted, just transference of one of more items. Just like accepting a liquor delivery in person.

But we will have to wait and see what Disney actually does or allows.

I don't believe they will allow it to sit in long, snaking lines. I don't think they are going to allow drop offs if someone isn't there to take delivery. If they did, there would be at least 5 companies camped out in the lobby or parking lot of every resort with ECV and strollers. I just don't think Disney is going to allow that. It doesn't contribute to the aesthetic they are going for to have parking lot camp outs with ECVs/

Not uitilizing Disney CM's means its an outside company doing business on Disney property. That is setting up shop.
That's not true. Many companies who deliver now allow you to pay on arrival if you are meeting them so money is already changing hands on deliveries. I am sure it will happen more with this new policy.

They well might, for devices rented from Scooterbug.
I don't think they are going to allow drop offs if someone isn't there to take delivery.
Correct, they will not. That's what the entire change is about.

Who said anything about lobbies? :confused3

Maybe, even probably, not. But there is typically space near the check in buildings. We will have to wait to see how it all shakes out.

As far a scooterbug, it will likely be done like it always has been, as they are the preferred provider.

If they don't allow drop offs until someone is there to take delivery, then the whole argument about leaving someone on site with the scooters is non existent. They won't allow them to drop off the scooter until the guest is there to take possession so they will be no scooters sitting around. that is however going to mean multiple deliveries a day by the same company, and likely people having to wait hours for their scooters.

As far a scooterbug goes, I just looked at what they offer and no way would i rent from them. Those ECVs won't last a full day in the parks.
Lots of smart consumers will read the details, just as you did.
And then they will select a company whose equipment, pricing and delivery meets their particular wants and needs.

Orlando Sttollers set up a location on level 1, near DME. I'm not sure if kingdom is another name or if 2 companies have already set up at MCO.
