Disney eliminates outside vendor drop off/pickup services. Must meet vendor for drop off/pickup (mobility devices only so far it seems)

Lots of smart consumers will read the details, just as you did.
And then they will select a company whose equipment, pricing and delivery meets their particular wants and needs.
Asssuming Disney ALLOWS those companies to mee the wants and needs of their customers. It remains to be seen what restrictions will be placed on deliveries.

I saw yesterday (I think) that Orlando stroller rentals was going to at MCO near DME but I hadn’t heard about Kingdom yet. Anybody have a link?

Last I saw was on their FB page, someone suggested an MCO storefront and they commented back $1 million commission for an airport location with a sad face.

Yep. Randy's Mobility all along. All the full-featured vendors since 2012. With Scooterbug as the official vendor, only three companies will have to adapt.

I've seen the negative thought on this, but I think it's a great idea.

Kingdom Strollers is setting up a DME-convenient counter right at the airport.

They allow others to. Plenty of people loiter in the GF lobby to listen to the music.
Orlando Sttollers set up a location on level 1, near DME. I'm not sure if kingdom is another name or if 2 compan
ies have already set up at MCO.
Edited to add Kingdoms website doesn't list MCO as a renting location. Orlandostrollers website does.

I’m trying to decide whether to order now from Kingdom and hope that they are grandfathered in for January or just wait and see how it all plays out. MCO pickup would be convenient.

That’s what we did, but for March.

If we’re not grandfathered in we’ll deal, but I figured it’s worth the risk and worst case we have to meet them. This trip we arrive mid afternoon so it would hopefully work out okay if we had to.

This policy is awful news. We rented from Kingdom Strollers this past summer and have a fabulous experience. However, our flight was 6 hours delayed and we did not get to the resort until late at night. Luckily, we were able to grab the stroller from Bell Services at POR when we arrived before we headed to our hotel room---which we needed with having two extremely exhausted children to get across the resort. We still woke up early as planned for our first day in the parks----trying to coordinate a differently timed drop-of when you have travel delays like this could put a real damper in our vacation plans. I hope that Disney reconsiders this policy.

I don't think that you understand what I am saying. I know that others delivered without being "preferred". That only means that Disney took delivery of it themselves. But with them cutting this, people are still going to be ordering from these dropped companies so now you have to add those to the list of others that meet with their customers. I have seen these being delivered many times and they bring them in a box truck. I would rather them have a space off to the side of the parking lot then have these box trucks along the drive.
I have read your many posts on this thread with interest. You seem ardent about this decision and the direction it may go. Yet I do not think you NEED an ECV. I do. I would trade places with you in a heartbeat. I find it amusing that you “would rather” the delivery trucks be relegated to a distant area of the parking lot. What happens in inclement weather.
Whatever. I will adapt.

I posted something similar in another thread but I’ll repeat...

I feel bad for people upset by this change. I get it. However, I am genuinely surprised that so many people rent something as important as a scooter/etc and just trust that they’ll be ok when you pick it up. If I ever need one or travel with someone who does I can’t imagine not wanting to have a rep from the rental company being there so that I can make sure it works and I’m comfortable using it. I can’t imagine myself taking on that risk.

At this point I’m bummed about the stroller but will deal with it like all other changes. It’s also could contribute to staying off site. We are trying our first off site audits only trip in 3 weeks and first family offsite trip in about 4 months.

If they go well this may be another pro for offsite. The list is getting longer...

Like with everything we all can chose to spend our money where and how we want...if you don’t like it don’t spend your money with Disney, they obviously feel this won’t have a large enough impact on the bottom line.

That is not what I said at all. I was trying to find a solution for these companies, that have to now meet with their customers, have a more efficient and faster way to get their ECVs to the customer. By having a space in a part of the parking lot, they can drop off more then 1 person's ECV at at time so that the customer does not have to wait around. With having to have the box trucks pull up to the drive, it can cause a back up when you get more then a couple coming in at the same time. And I am the one that is all for having a representative at the resorts to help expedite the process. I did not say for the guests to go out to the end of the parking lot to get the ECV, but to have them there and ready so when you show up, they can have it close in hand. These would all be helpful to you. I don't know why your would think otherwise.

Actually, many of the scooter models cannot be carried in anything else. Only the ones listed as portable can be broken down for a car, and anyone over about 250 lbs cannot ride those.

Just to clear up this bit of misinformation, multiple rental places offer high quality heavy-duty ECVs that disassemble for transport and have for years. Most are rated for up to 400-450 lbs.

An update from Kingdom Strollers FB page (clearing up the Nov 2 talk), sorry if I missed this already posted:

-Important Update to the Disney stroller rental dates-

Today is the last day to order your stroller rental for delivery for any date past Nov 2nd if you want it to be held by the bellstand at the Disney resort.

Any order placed before 11:45pm tonight will have their rental delivered and picked up through the bellstand. After today, any order placed for a delivery or pick up date after Nov 2nd will need to meet us face to face.

Disney has extended the date for mandatory meet & greets to Nov 2nd. So if you place your order between Oct 1st and Nov 1st for delivery, you can still have it delivered to the bellstand as long as the rental begins by Nov 2nd. If you place your order tomorrow and the pick up is for after Nov 2nd, you will need to meet us for the pick up portion.

Confusing, I know....bottom line....get that order in before 11:45pm tonight!!!

Reading through the comments it does look like there will be one company that will be allowed to drop strollers at bell Services.
