Disney Early Morning Magic - Details & Prices

I'd assume entry to the attractions will be FP+ queue with wristband once the park opens?

Oh absolutely. I fully expect this is the beginning of weaning us off EMH. It sucks. Never had to pay for EMH before. I have 6 in my family so we would be looking at an extra $1308 plus tax to do one morning and one evening. And that's a big, fat NOPE.

That does not seem like much time at all. Maybe if you skipped breakfast? I wonder how long the check in process will take? Perhaps they will have everyone taken care of before 745?

Seems to me although ridiculous, this may be a better deal, or rather a more exclusive event than the night time hours.

If someone were staying off site and planned on one day only, this could be beneficial.

People are speculating this is the end of EMH, but Disney needs that gimmick to get people on property, right? (Even though we stay on property and never use EMH.) It's a big selling point even if people don't use it. Better to have a weeks worth of your money than just $69. Unless this is aimed to squeeze more money out of offsite guests...

I am going over Christmas and New Year's Day. I won't be a happy camper if I cannot get into the parks for EMH or stay late of EMHs without paying.
What is the advantage now for my staying onsite? I own DVC but also own a 3 bedroom huge t/s at OLCC. If it's for making ADRs, I can live without the
advantage of booking earlier since I'm not always traveling at busy times (this year I am) and I'll just live with what I get.
Most of the changes, although I didn't like (ie., FP+ I hated when first rolled out since I use to be a FP hoarder and planned a lot to maximize our visits) I dealt
with since it is what it is but the EMHs will really tick me off.

I have old tickets that we are using over the Christmas break but if I didn't have the tickets, I was going to book the Discovery Cove tickets and do SW, DC and possibly Universal. My kids, 22 and 18 enjoyed it very much the last time we went.

How would they be sure the people paying for this left the park at 10? Wouldn't they blend in with the crowd and then Be able to stay for the full day?
They have to have a park admission ticket as well.

Oops. Just realized this was answered a few times. :)

I'm curious as to how many tickets will be sold? Will it be cpacity at the Village Haus? How much is that? Or will it be doible the capacity if Disney assumes peoples will be eating over the 2 hours and not just the last hour (which is what I assume most people will do), which could lead to overcrowding in the restaurant and major complaints. I could see this easily going badly, but if it's handled well, I can see the advantage: $70 for an hour of unlimited rides and then breakfast. It might be worth it to some.

I'm not into paying for hardly upcharge events besides character meals, but I can usually at least see why other people would do it. I have a hard time with the value of this. . . Early access to very few rides, yes a jump on the rest of the crowd when the full park opens, the breakfast baffles me - adds to the "value" but if what you're really after is ride access, who will waste the low wait times eating this breakfast? Even starting at 9 after you've done your exclusive rides, now you're wasting the regular rope drop experience eating.

Because of the full breakfast, I'm thinking this will have to be limited to a pretty low number of people, so I guess it's really a re-tooling of pre-park ADRs, but the dynamic of missing out on exclusive rides OR getting behind regular rope drop crowds while you eat really screws up the dynamic, I think.

I still don't see how they can promote "7:45 to 10AM" and drop the exclusivity at 9:00.

My point is, WHY even mention the 10AM?

Maybe to have the breakfast available for an hour after the exclusivity if people just wanted to take advantage of the rides before they eat.

How incredibly awful is this?
Say you just paid $400 to stay at Contemporary to hit MK at RD.
Suddenly to your surprise as you're escorted up Main Street you find 1000 people already occupying Fantasy Land.

It's no longer an objective to keep up with the Jones' you need to keep up with the Disneys'

Screw you Disney!

The one thing that bothers me is outside the theming of the hotels, the EMHs are the main unique selling point for staying on-site. You can easily stay off-site for a fraction of the cost.

The idea - or speculation, rather, of EMHs going away is really taking the wind out of my sails for this Christmas trip. Why are we gonna pay thousands of dollars to stay at BC when all it really gets us is walking distance to one of the parks and theming? We can save a couple grand and stay offsite at a very nice hotel.

I'm usually very cup half full, but this is pointing in a grim direction.

I have a pre-park opening ADR at Crystal Palace in May. I am doing it to have a mostly empty park to take pictures in and beat the rush to the lines. If we get to ride a ride or two before park opening, that is just a bonus. If they offer this on the day I have my ADR , I will cancel. We are two parents and three college kids- we are not dying to eat breakfast with Pooh and friends. :)
This is us, exactly, except we have our ADR at BoG. I love being able to take pictures without having tons of people around. The feeling of having the Magic Kingdom practically to yourself, is very cool! pixiedust: There is, however, no way I would pay $70 for an hour to ride 3 rides and eat a continental breakfast....

I might consider doing this one day if it's available for our trip. I'm going to keep an eye on trip reports and see how it shakes out, though.

You have to think that only having three rides open is just the beginning. If this is successful and Disney thinks they can milk it for more money, they will sell more tickets and open up more rides. It'll start with just the current three rides. At some point, they will expand it to open all FL rides. Who knows, at some point after that, they might then expand it to include all of the mountains. This is just the beginning. At some point in the future, "official" rope drop will be completely useless on whatever days this little event is held.

How do you think they will make sure the people who pay for this exit the park (or at least don't line up for more attractions) at 10? Wouldn't they easily be able to slip into the crowd and stay the full day?

We have never rope dropped, and I'm a bit confused. How does this hurt rope droppers? isnt the goal to beat the hordes showing up at the rides at 10 am or so? Does this only keep people who had early BOG ADR get pre open rides off 7DMT?

This and the Disney After Dark will hurt their resort occupancy rates, IMO.

People that are paying a premium to stay onsite mostly for EMH and free parking.
If Disney is again going to limit those benefits I would get a cheaper, nicer room off property(probably with a kitchen - huge savings right there).
I do not cook on vacation - but we had cereal, salads, soups and sandwich meat in the room.
Last time I did this(Dec) I was able to snag a 2bdrm for 159/night through mousesavers. Free shuttle service to the parks.
Do the Disney After Dark which basically allows me 7 or 8 hours in the park, and I'm still pocketing savings.

Disney after Dark is a better option because you don't have to use a regular ticket day to take advantage of it.

They will ALSO require regular admission tickets for the early entry folks.

The positive flip side to that is people who actually want to eat at the restaurant for the dining experience itself and not just an easy early entry, will have a better change to actually snag an ADR.
That's what lunch and dinner are for. No one actually wants to pay $24 for what they pass off as breakfast at BOG. ;)

1) How does this not effectively end at 9am (or earlier) when park opens? Will they block this area for other park guests until 10?

2) If the attendees also have a regular ticket for the day will they have to head back to the front to clear the gates again (or maybe they just let them slip on out into the park with verifying that they, in fact, do have a ticket for day)

Personally, I get my fill of each of those rides after about two go 'rounds. They just aren't that exciting. On our trip last week we didn't happen to do any of them (we're APs and were simply doing other things in MK)
All of your questions are addressed in this post:

I'm not sure how it hurts rope droppers. I guess it would mean a lot of people in the park pre-rope drop, so rope droppers have more crowds to deal with. You will have the magic hour people, the BOG adr people, then rope droppers. So rope droppers won't have such low crowds anymore.

So glad we did BOG pre-opening in early March. Sounds like the rides on the 7DMT will be a thing of the past. We ate and then got 2 rides before the crowds descended. I don't think WDW will take away EMH. USO does early entry, so does Legoland. I think these new morning and evening events will be on days without EMH. They will find their hotels empty if they do away with EMH. I would have no reason to stay on site as my oldest will be 10 so I can't see us getting DDP again any time soon and my parents have APs so no parking charges. Yet I wouldn't go to USO without staying onsite for the early entry and express pass. As it stands I'm already not sure we will ever stay onsite again even though we have CM friends who can get us a discount and that would be the nail in the coffin for sure.
