OK People. My good friend has made his reservations during the dreaded week in Early June. Lets give he and his family a nice strategy to enjoy the parks while avoiding some of the "festivities" that might be going on.
I am sure some of you have been down to WDW during this week and could give us some advice.
Thanks in Advance
CC

I will be there with my 11 year old niece from June 1-5 (very short trip)

From the look at the above link, will the parks not have the big crowds from this group the first few days they are there? I want to avoid crowds- any large groups- as much as possible

We were there last year and we just did the parks on the other days. The crowds are not bad at the other parks. No big deal, really!

I like early June because the crowds are not that bad and the weather is warm enough to really appreciate the water parks/pools!

This is our third early June trip. The first year I dreaded going only because we were used to fall crowds and of the heat. Well, the heat was pretty hot and humid, but the crowds were manageable. I was pleasantly surprised!

Go and enjoy; see you there!

Even the "designated" parks aren't extremely crowded. The one big exception is the MK on Saturday. And as crowded as the MK is on Saturday, for anyone that wants a haircut, the barber (Mychal or Michal...however he spells it) said that GayDay is the slowest Saturday of the year at the Barber shop.

Gay Day's Opinions:

After several visits during the Gay Days, I have the following opinions:

First, Saturday at the Magic Kingdom is the only "park day" I've seen massively affected by Gay Days crowds. Pleasure Island on Friday and Saturday night can also become extremely crowded.

MK being crowded on this day is no different than any other crowded day. Expect longer lines. PI is a little different. The crowd is young and therefore, like any gathering of young people in a bar district after a 90 degree Florida day, they're loud, drunk, and obnoxious. No different than heterosexuals being loud, drunk, and obnoxious. We went on Saturday during this period in 2000 and found it somewhat un-entertaining. If I were younger I might have a different opinion.

If "avoiding" Gay Day activites is your choice, the schedule listed by bearzabout should be of great help avoiding things like Typhoon Lagoon on certain days.

All that said, my experience with the Gay Days is that beyond MK on Saturday, the crowds tend to be very managable, and the behavior is, quite frankly, far superior to a similar visit in mid-July. My wife and I will be in the parks June 6-11, we'll enjoy it, and we'll wear red shirts if that's what's on top of the clean pile that day.

We have been going to WDW the first two weeks of June for several years now and have not notice any real differences in the four park crowds during these events during the first week. The only exception is MK on the first Saturday. Last year was the first time we happened to end up at MK on that day. The crowds were absolutely terrible. We left after about an hour and will never go back on that day again. We went to another park when we left and it was fine. I disagree that the crowds are not any worse on that Saturday. I have been on the 2nd Saturday in June and it was nothing like the first Saturday during that event.

I fear from this and re-reading my post that I was unclear. So that Cosmic_Charlie has good, even information, let me reiterate what I meant to say: I agree wtih Brianhog and other's here, Saturday in MK this weekend is rediculous, the only day I think is affected by Gay Days. That and PI, also on Saturday night and to some degree Friday night. Hope that clarifies!
