Disney/DVD direct Use Year issue

We purchased a small direct contract at AKL after our resale contract closed. Our resale VGF UY is February but we received approval for a December UY on the AKL contract. The December UY gives added flexibility for Christmas reservations and came with 2020 points.

We signed and paid in full last week but were just told today that we don't qualify for a December UY unless we make it a 150 point purchase. Has anyone else heard of this and can DVD void the transaction after closing? I'm assuming this was caught prior to the deed being registered so maybe we haven't officially closed yet?

So much for direct being easier.

Yes. When you buy a different UY it is no longer an add on.

It is considered a new membership and they have always required current owners to meet the minimum if that is what they want!

Sorry that you got the "approval" and then told it wasn't possible once it went further up the chain. I've had such interaction with DVC a few years ago as well although it wasn't about a second UY. As you say, why go direct then. It was such a hassle and became my second direct purchase that took far more time than any resale I ever did.

You can always just tell them thats fine you will just go buy it via resale just to put some pressure on the guide to get it done.

I agree because I tried it before and it did not. I walked away and they were okay with that. No different than the number of new buyers who could not get them to budge on minimums. They will indeed let you walk away because they really do not have trouble selling the product.

Its not about trouble.selling the product, they get a healthy commission. Youd be surprised what they can achieve when motivated.

They're most likely to say best of luck in the past few years though. Remember that the guide got "approval". It was further up the chain that said no. They don't often change their minds.

Just go buy a small resale contract with a December use year, then call DVC back and do the add on.
