Anyone here a member and know the ins and outs? I got a packet sent to me and am finally joining as I've been meaning to. But oe of the movies I wanted was Sleeping Beauty... any idea why it's not listed?

Honestly don't bother joining.

The prices are expensive and you have to pay for shipping. I am member I and still need to purchase dvds to fulfill my membership. Yes, it is a good deal to join, but it is a movie club so just like Columbia House they get you with a good deal, then you have to pay more than you would at Target, Walmart etc.

As for Sleeping Beauty, that movie is in the vault and being released in the the spring, so you won't see it until they re-release it. I am sure it will the selection of the month soon enough.

I agree w/pp! I was so glad when I fulfilled my obligation to this!! You can get better deals just about anywhere, and there is a nice selection of older/hard to find dvds at Best Buy. It seems you have to buy in quantities to make it close to being a deal, then the s&h sinks that ship. Once I did get a deal on Disney stories on cd...and of course have never seen them again at a good price!

Actually, assuming you still get the first 4 or 5 for almost nothing, it ends up about even, or even on your side. But it all depends on how FAST you order things.

We took around 1.5 years to order all the obligated movies, and did it one at a time. So the shipping added up, and the math stopped working for us emotionally. We'd see a movie at Costco or on amazon or deepdiscount for SO much less, or with free shipping, and we'd want to get that, even though when you add it all up and average it out it was still working for us.

So if you have a stack of movies you plan to get, just order as many as you can all at once, get a big chunk of the obligation (which is 5, I think, after your cheapie first movies) done, out of the way. Once your obligation is out of the way, then the good savings starts...current offer for VIP account (you become VIP after you finish your obligation) is 60% off movies after one at full price...there are also free pins you can get...things like that.

I joined through sunshine rewards and got credit with them for joining the club, which was an extra bit of nice.

Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Platinum Edition is right there on the site. It's just not probably available to you for your first chunk of cheapie movies to get. But it's there!

FYI, Little Mermaid platinum edition, Peter Pan platinum edition, little mermaid 2, and little mermaid ariel's beginning are all going back into the "vault" on the 30th.

I got my packet today - took out the stickers and the rest went into the recycles LOL. We did it once 5 years ago and refuse to do it again - the movies turn out to be about the same when you average out the free and the ones you pay their crazy price but you also pay s&h..

I am so glad I saw this post! We just got the envelope too and I actually didn't recycle it yet. For the first time in years we actually have some room in the budget to consider some new movies (and considering the vast majority of our Disney movies were MINE in college and are VHS, we need to replace old ones too!). I put the packet aside to do the math and figure out if it was worth it or not.

Guess we'll keep the stickers and just buy at Sam's Club. :lmao:

You know what's annoying ...

I would consider doing this because it could end up being "worth it" for us.

However, I really want the Peter Pan collection and the Little Mermaid collection. Both of which are not listed on the membership page. Seems silly to me, but whatever.

One day I am going to have to replace out VHS collection.
