Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

Stefy,
I am speaking for my dd (Aimee) (stl_figment). She is dining in Palo the first night. This is after her and her fiancee do the "legal" part of the wedding. They will have their "ceremony" on Castaway Cay. She will be the one with the wedding mouse ears (oh wait - she probably cannot wear them in Palo???). And congrats on your upcoming wedding and Disneymoon.

Thanks for posting pics everyone - it will help put faces to names before the cruise. I will have Aimee show me how (cause she obviously knows since she posted her pic) and then I will put one up of me and Dan.

Becky

Sorry my Palo dinner is actually on the second night.

Oops ~ Double post.

So instead, I'll talk about us more.

I'm a planner for the police dept (side note: the views expressed here are strictly my own and not those of the police dept I work for). I write policy/procedure, grants, create the recreation schedules for the officers, and work on the accreditation for the department.

I also work with my mom on Saturday nights taking groups of adults with developmental disabilities out to activities around the city.

Brent is the commercial manager (in charge of sales to other businesses) for an auto parts store.

Sorry about pooh bear - we had to have our 16 yr old Basset put down recently. I understand loosing a "furry" part of your family.

Becky

Thank you. It's been rough. She's only been gone 5 days.:sad1:
I don't know about yours but Pooh was our first "child" and only dog. We have two cats but I loved Pooh more. I like the cats but Pooh was more special.
Sorry to hear you have done the same recently. I never knew how hard this can be.

Sorry my Palo dinner is actually on the second night.

Word of advice.
Don't do Palo the night of Animator's Palate. You don't wanna miss the show. When you check in at the port, pay attention to your dining rotation to make sure they don't fall on the same night. If the do just the person to switch it for you.

Hey Junior! I'm adoin' fine. At work now...................and loven' every minute of it!!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: I always said and still think it is true..............work just gets in the way of my Disney Vacations!!!!

We did have a Western cruise planned a couple of years ago. Some family issues came up and we had to cancel. So when it came time to plan another cruise with our granddaughter, (she went with us on our very first Disney Cruise), we asked her where she would like to go...................and you guessed it another Eastern. We asked her if she would like to go somewhere different. But she loved St Maartin...........so back we go!!! We will do a Western cruise here soon. But our next plans are to make a dummy cruise on this cruise and move it to a Christmas 2013 cruise when the new dates are announced. This time out though it is just DW and I. We need some alone time...........away from all of the family hub bub!!!:scared1: Our kids are grown and out on their own, but some how DW and I get sucked up in all of their crazy goings on.:eek::eek:
Well, ol' bossman is looking at me kinda of weird now.:scared1: Better get back to work. Talk to ya'll again soon.

Hey David. We went to St. Marten about 10 years ago and we liked it. Friends of ours came with and they wanted to go on the butterfly excursion. I didn't think it would be any fun but we actually had a great time.
We also did a cruise at Christmas time. It was at the beginning of December. I love how they decorate at the parks but I was underwelmed by how the ship was decorated. Castaway Cay looked nice though. As it always does with a couple Konk Koolers!

Hi Stefy! Congrats on the upcoming wedding. Looks like you got a whirl wind couple of weeks ahead of ya! Hope it all goes smooth.

I love seeing all the intros and pictures and itineraries! It's so fun! The excitement is sooooo building up!

Thank you. It's been rough. She's only been gone 5 days.:sad1:

O.M.G. I am soooooo sorry for y'all's loss. I cannot even imagine. We got our little toy schnauzer in December 2007. Our little Riley is the first dog I've ever had. Before we got her I thought dog people were just nuts. How could people get so wrapped up with silly animals? Then I became a dog-mommy and it was just like having another child on soooo many levels. I'm Riley's person. She's very attached to me in particular. She's my little heart and soul. Just the thought of something bad happening to her or someday letting her go when it's time rips my heart out. Like I said, I cannot even imagine what you're going thru. My heart goes out to you. It really does. Riley sends doggy-kisses and love, too.

Waaaaaaaaa....I want mine!:sad::sad:

Did they come FedEx?

I emailed my TA and she's on the lookout for our stuff, too. I told her I was just itching to see what was in those nifty little books I've seen in the travel docs and her reply was, "Oh yes. I love the little books!" Such a tease!

I will post the answer when I get home from work. Made it home, the documents came in a small white envelope. It came through regular mail.

Hi David! How are you today? I see you've been on an eastern and you have another eastern comin up. Do you have something against doin a western? I've been on both and really enjoyed cozomel. Just wondering.

Junior, you mentioned you have been to Cozumel - when, how long ago was that? DW says she is a little concerned about traveling to Mexico with all of the problems they have been having there. Any thoughts on this? :confused3

Oh I am afraid to tell you it is hard everytime. :sad1: But they bring us so much joy while they are here. :)

It was bad for me because when my dd went away to college I trained my basset to be a therapy pet (cause I had empty nest bad since she is an only child). We were part of a local organization called Love on a Leash and part of a national organization called the Foundation for Pet Provided Therapy. With this particular organization he was 1 of only 3 basset hounds in the whole country that were "certified therapy pets".

Me and "Boomer" specialized in elder care - so we did LOTS of visits in nursing homes to visit the residents. We were also part of a "dance" team. One of our members choreographed basic obedience patterns to music and during the routines sometimes us "human" parts of the team actually danced a bit. :rotfl2:
It was great fun and I really missed being a part of this since Boomer "retired" almost 3 years ago due to his health. He lived a good life for a basset and I miss him greatly.

David,
Hopefully you don't mind me putting in my two cents worth. ;)
I have been to Cozumel as recently as Feb. this year. (I have been in Feb 11, Sept 10, Sep 09, Feb 09, Sept 08 and Feb 08).

We have always considered Cozumel safe and have never had a problem there. Cozumel is a big tourist stop and I personally think it is fine. I do understand people being nervous due to all the recent problems in Mexico.

Becky

The problems in Mexico are mainly on the mainland, not on the Island Which is Cozumel. We had a FABULOUS time there last fall :thumbsup2

I'm sooooo sorry to hear about your dog.

We've had a lot of pets growing up, two dogs we've had to put down. Its hard (even when I no longer live there).

I have 4 fur-babies now (2 cats and 2 dogs) and they are Brent's and I babies so I know what you mean about Pooh being your first "child".

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to take the gamble on the Palo night/Animator's Palace. Its hard to switch dinner reservations for 19 people. Hmmmm, maybe I'll ask our wedding coordinator if we can find out our dinner rotation ahead of time. :rolleyes1

Cozumel is an island off of cancun. I don't think there will be any issues. We went in 07, I took my mom on the 7 day for her 50th bday. If Disney still goes there then that's all you need to know if it's safe or not. If you are still a little skiddish then when you get off the ship just stay near the main drag and you'll be fine.

Disney pulled out of a port in the mediteranian due to civil unrest, they won't hesitate to do it again. But like they tell you, once you get off the ship, you're not in Disney anymore.

Thank you for sharing. It gets easier everyday but I still miss her very much. There is a word used on the SSMC 2011 thread and I think it's fitting here. Your pooch sounds like he was AWESOMESAUCE!!!
