Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

Good morning to all the 9/15 Dispeeps! It's a great day today. Temps are only gonna be in the high 70s so doing asphalt today will be a breeze! I'm off tonight so I can relax at home a bit, can't wait for that. And I leave in only 32 more days!!!:woohoo:

Oh stop rubbin' it iiiiiin.... :sad1: We're set for 99 today. I'm sure the heat index will be in the 115 range. :headache: I can't even remember the last time it rained at our house. My veggie garden finally died back in June even with the soaker hose on a timer. I have to drag my non-morning-person behind out of bed at 5 a.m. just to be able to get my run in before the sun is high enough to kill me. I was sooooo right when we first moved to Texas in May of '07 and I called my mother to inform her I had found the precise location to h - e - double-hockey-sticks. It's right next door to Texas!!!! :crazy2:

Yeah we get the hot stuff here too. The past few weeks have been in the upper 80s to upper 90s with oppressive humidity. We get about 5-10 days of +100 heat indices too. I know how it feels but we don't get it for months at a time. Weather where I'm at is very odd at times. In the span of 24 hours, we can go from the high in the 50s to highs in the 90s. It's crazy! We had friends from Ft. Lauderdale come up in June and they were asking what to pack. I said be prepared for anything! The weekend before they came it was 50s, the weekend they were here it was 80s. :confused3
Any Hoo, I feel for ya! There's a guy on another thread from Katy that's been saying the same stuff. Good luck!

LOL the little people thing is a joke among my co workers. DH and I had gone bowling with a group from work and one of my co workers kids asked her if we were little people. I still bug her about it to this day.

I was wondering, is anyone sharing their port plans with each other. Would be interesting to know if some of us are doing the same adventures. QUOTE]

I am attending my dd's wedding on CC :thumbsup2

Ok I think you know I am Aimee's mom. She will be the bride on CC. Very excited as she has wanted a Disney wedding since she was old enough to figure out she could get married at Disney (about 5 I think?)

My name is Becky and my dh is Dan. I work 3 jobs (kinda crazy I know).

My full time job is in a theological library where I wear 4 hats (like I said earlier crazy I know)
1st - I am the library Admin Asst (the boss still calls me a secretary) :rotfl2:
2nd - I am the processer (which means I get the books "shelf" ready - labels, security devices, pockets, etc)
3rd - I fix books (so if a spine is ripped [this is the small end of a book where the title usually is], a books pages are torn, the hinge is coming apart [this is where the text block [books pages] fit the spine], or various things that can go wrong with a book - I fix it)
4th - I "bind" books (basically I take paperback books - take the cover off them [which all you have to do is heat it up really hot] reinforce the cover, laminate it - then put it back on) this makes books last lots longer for library use. - Been at the company for 9 years - working in the library for 2 years

First part time job - I work on Saturday nights (3x a month) for an organization where we take people (21 and older) with developmental disabilities into the community to social activities such as bowling, dancing, plays, dinner, mini-golf/game room, etc. This is large scale group activity (i.e. we take anywhere from 50 - 90 clients every week) I have been doing this for about 15 years.

2nd part time job - I work anywhere from 20 - 60 hours a month (in my spare time from the other 2 jobs) :rotfl: where I work with adults age 50 and older that have developmental disabilities 1 on 1 to help them plan for and enjoy their retirement by keeping them active in social activities and connected with others (most people with dd work in sheltered workshops and when they retire they loose their connection to their peers - so we help them keep these connections with their friends) - been doing this for 2 1/2 years

In my spare time I am planning a Disney wedding :bride: with my dd and local reception here in St. Louis when she and my new son-in-law get back from their Disneymoon.

My dh is the mobile network administrator for the police dept - which translates to old city cop turned computer geek :lmao: Seriously he is responsible for all "mobile" devices - i.e. laptops in police cars, laptops out of cars, mobile ticketing devices, cameras for the LPR (license plate recognition) cars etc

I am a Disney lover and dh (Dan) never went to Disney until he was 50 (which was 12 years ago). Since then I have had him to Disney at least 6 times (wish we could go more) He whines and complains everytime but I know he really likes it.

Ok - bored you enough!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Becky

Becky............you sure have allot on your plate girl!!! And here I was, awhile back, whinning and crying because I had to go back to work full time!!!:sad2:I admire someone like you that keeps so busy, and for all of the good things you are doing to help others. My hat is off to you!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 You deserve the 3 thumbs up!!!

Speaking of itineraries, we looked at doing an eastern, too, for hubby's 40th next year. His dream is to go stand on the beach and watch the planes land up close and personnal in St. Maarten. For maximum effect we decided to put that off until we can just go to St. Maarten so we'll be there on the day(s) the 747's come in. Next fall DCL will be sailing out of Galveston which is about an hour and a half drive from us. Even with the port that close we still refuse to book because of the ports. Beach destinations do nothing for us. Seriously. That's why we booked the Pacific cruise next September for our 2nd cruise. We're nuts. I know.

I've seen pics of the planes coming in. I always thought that woul be cool to see. I'm not big on sitting at a beach. I don't mind it when it's Castaway Cay, but I don't plan my destination around a beach. I love theme parks!! There are some roller coasters I need to ride as part of my bucket list. I'm not a big thrill seeker but roller coasters are awesome! I've become more of a political junkie over the last 5 years or so. I've switched sides cause I learned that the party I always voted for doesn't believe in what I believe. Now that I pay attention I've also become more of a history buff. In the future some of ou ba as will revolve around historical destinations too.
The pacific cruise, is it Disney? What ports are you going to?
One year I am definitely going on an alaskan cruise! Maybe for my 40th. :confused3 Although we are going to Italy that year so I don't know if we will be able to do both.

Hope you guys had a great day!

We aren't lay around and/or beachy people either. The old man is a huge aviation buff and would loooooove to get that up-close and personnal with a 747. St. Maarten is the only place in the world that gets you that close. Yep, September 2012 we'll be sailing 6-nights on the Wonder from Vancouver to Los Angeles with 2 days in San Francisco. Hopefully ((crossing fingers)) we'll be able to spend 4 days at Disneyland after the cruise. The kids & I have never been to California. We all are just itching to see Disneyland. AND the new Carsland should be all done!

I'm going to say this again......
I WANT MY CRUISE DOCS!

I know I don't officially "need" them but, I WANT them!:rotfl2:

I am right there with you. I work at night so I miss the mail and I call my husband and ask if they have arrived yet. He is probably tired of me asking(oh well).

Went to DL 2 years ago. I much prefer WDW but it's nice to see the "Original". The rides that are the same are actually different to a certain degree also and yes some are better there. World of color was being built at the time so we missed that. We stayed at the Grand Californian which AWESOME! We spent 3 days there and it wasn't enough! I thought with only 2 parks it would have been no big deal but man, it just wasn't enough time. One thing you should no about DL is that it's not as safe as WDW. There are a lot of people there that live around there and things can come up missing. It's a happy place but not as happy as WDW.

Nice family photo! Sorry about the passing of your four legged family member. I see that our kids are around the same ages, hopefully they can connect and enjoy each others company. My daughter is so looking forward to making new friends and enjoying the club and lab.

Loving the introductions. Is great to meet you all and I can't wait to say hello to everyone in September :goodvibes

So I guess I'd better introduce myself and the hubby to be :)

Hello my name is Stephanie (or Stef/Stefy for short) I am a Disney loving fiend who relishes every trip we have ever taken to WDW. My partner in crime is David (or Dave as he prefers) who is also Disney crazy and if he had his way every vacation would be in WDW.

We hail from the UK, or London to be more specific and both work full time. I work as a PA for a surveying and estate agency (real estate) company. Dave works for a Design & Construction company doing all sorts.

Next month we are getting married in Lake Garda, Italy and then Disneymooning in WDW for the 3 night Dream Cruise and then 10 nights at the Poly thereafter.

Our cruise plans for this (our first ever) trip is:-

Day 1 - Arrive at Port around 1pm (ish), slightly worried about the crowds that the terminal can get on embarkation days so we figured arriving later on in the day would be better. Dinner that night is at Palo, anyone else dining there that night?

Day 2 - Nassau Day - we are doing the sea lion encounter in the morning, then will head back to port to pick up some rum cake and then explore the rest of the ship. Not too fussed about exploring Nassau. Dinner tonight is at Royal Palace.

Day 3 - Castaway Cay Day - We will be doing the early morning parasailing activity and then going to our cabana on Serenity Bay for the rest of the day, taking time in between to explore the island. Dinner tonight is at Remy which we are very much looking forward to :)

Day 4 - Debarkation Day - We have friends picking us up to take us shopping for the day then off home to the Poly for 10 nights at the most Magical Place on Earth

Guess I should finish off with a pic too so you know what this crazy couple looks like :teeth:

So excited to meet you all :)

Stefy,
I am speaking for my dd (Aimee) (stl_figment). She is dining in Palo the first night. This is after her and her fiancee do the "legal" part of the wedding. They will have their "ceremony" on Castaway Cay. She will be the one with the wedding mouse ears (oh wait - she probably cannot wear them in Palo???). And congrats on your upcoming wedding and Disneymoon.

Thanks for posting pics everyone - it will help put faces to names before the cruise. I will have Aimee show me how (cause she obviously knows since she posted her pic) and then I will put one up of me and Dan.

Becky

Pooh bear 17 (recently deceased)
Sorry about pooh bear - we had to have our 16 yr old Basset put down recently. I understand loosing a "furry" part of your family.

Hi David! How are you today? I see you've been on an eastern and you have another eastern comin up. Do you have something against doin a western? I've been on both and really enjoyed cozomel. Just wondering.

Hey Junior! I'm adoin' fine. At work now...................and loven' every minute of it!!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: I always said and still think it is true..............work just gets in the way of my Disney Vacations!!!!

We did have a Western cruise planned a couple of years ago. Some family issues came up and we had to cancel. So when it came time to plan another cruise with our granddaughter, (she went with us on our very first Disney Cruise), we asked her where she would like to go...................and you guessed it another Eastern. We asked her if she would like to go somewhere different. But she loved St Maartin...........so back we go!!! We will do a Western cruise here soon. But our next plans are to make a dummy cruise on this cruise and move it to a Christmas 2013 cruise when the new dates are announced. This time out though it is just DW and I. We need some alone time...........away from all of the family hub bub!!!:scared1: Our kids are grown and out on their own, but some how DW and I get sucked up in all of their crazy goings on.:eek::eek:
Well, ol' bossman is looking at me kinda of weird now.:scared1: Better get back to work. Talk to ya'll again soon.
