Disney Dream ~ September 15, 2011

Hi!, I'm Sheri and I'll be joining Judy & Tim.

:welcome: to the thread!!!

Hi everybody! It's about time I checked in here! DH & I will be on this cruise.

We will be first time cruisers and are really looking forward to it! We are, of course, huge Disney fans. When we moved from CT to FL back in 2004, we decided where to live by drawing a circle around WDW and only looking inside that circle. I see that there will be a wedding in the group on this cruise. DH & I also had a Disney wedding. We eloped to Disneyland in Sept 2000 and will be celebrating our 11th anniversary on this cruise. Our actual anniv date is Sept 12, so we'll be in a park for that, probably MK, but the cruise will be the big celebration for us this year.

A side note to David - retirement is AWESOME!!!! You'll love it! I've never had any problem finding excuses not to get things done around the house! For example, you have to prepare for all your rides on the AquaDuck! The question is - How are we going to get all the kids out of the way so we adults can ride?!

I'm bookmarking this thread so I can check in on it when I'm online. Both Barry (DH) and I are looking forward to meeting all of you.

Nancy

:welcome: to the thread! Your anniversary is my b-day!!! Last year we were on the DVC Member Cruise that set sail on 9/12/10...I couldn't think of a more perfect way to celebrate my 40th b-day! :thumbsup2 It helped make it easier to celebrate "that" birthday. :rotfl2:

I love how you decided where to move to in FL. How cool!!! Someday I hope I can be that carefree. Right now we've got two kids and we're kind of stuck where we're at since the whole extended family lives in the area, too.

We didn't have a Disney wedding, but we're hoping our DD does. She's only 7 so we've got lots of time to brainwash her.....eerrr....I mean talk to her about it. :rotfl:

Just popping in for a quick hello. Welcome to the cruise :thumbsup2

btw I just received my very first FE...it's beautiful!
I can't wait to put it up near our cabin.
Take care everyone, have a safe and warm week.

I hope everyone has a GREAT day today. After all it is Tuesday, and I have, counting today 4 days to go!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

To Nancy & Barry my I :welcome::welcome::welcome: you to our group. This is going to be a great cruise for all of us!!!

Thank you for the helpful hints for my semi-retirement.:thumbsup2 Are you retired Nancy? Hey I never thought about getting the kiddies out of the way so we adults can ride the AquaDuck!!! I'll have to give this some serious thought.

Well everyone have a great day today. I'll talk to ya'll again real soon.:yay:

That's awesome!!!! Congrats!!! Does Southwest fly out of an airport near you? They just released their bookings through 9/30/11, so they're pretty cheap right now.

Unfortunately they don't. I'd have to take a 6 hour drive to get to the closest one in Albany NY. Not worth it to me. I wish I could pay for plane tickets the way I can for the cruise, bit by bit. :) If my teens would stop eating my $$$$ I might be able to purchase the air fare next month :thumbsup2

Well...we pay for the air fare bit by bit....on a credit card....with interest. :headache: BUT...If we paid cash for it we'd have to wait several months to buy it and risk the flight times we need not being available OR doubling in price. We needed nonstop flights at particular times due to young (somewhat hyper) kids, work schedules AND flying home the same day as getting off the ship.

You should have seen me purchasing the tickets! :scared1: One set was one way tickets for DH & myself & our kids. One set was one way tickets for DH & Myself. One set was one way tickets for DSiL & her family. One set was one way tickets for DSiL & her family and my kids. And finally one ticket was round trip for DSiL's DSiL! LOL I was so nervous because I thought for sure I was going to do at least one of them wrong!!

Does ATA fly out of an airport near you? Southwest just recently purchased ATA, so maybe within the next few years you will have Southwest service closer to you.

My fiance (Lilla) and I (Aleks) are going to be on board as well, however we are getting married on 9/10/11 so we will be married by the time we set sail. It will be our first cruise, but we are big Disney fans and are annual members at Disneyland. Keep in touch and maybe we can do a meet. Our stateroom will be #6660 (spooky huh?) and we are thinking of doing a Haunted Mansion themed door. Also we would love to participate in the FE.

We are so excited after listening to the DIS Unplugged and WDWradio reviews of the Dream and can not wait to have dinner at Palo's or Remy's.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I'm trying not to get too excited yet because we do still have a way to go before cruise time. I don't want to be totally burned out by the time we set sail.

I'll be looking for lots of cruise tips from you regular cruisers since this will be our first one. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions as we get closer to cruise time. I know I'll need to learn about things like decorating our door. All the trips we've taken, I've never done anything like that before! :earseek:

Thank you for the helpful hints for my semi-retirement. Are you retired Nancy? Hey I never thought about getting the kiddies out of the way so we adults can ride the AquaDuck!!! I'll have to give this some serious thought.

David, I think we may need to plan an AquaDuck meet! :banana:What could possibly be more fun than a bunch of DISers sliding down the Aqua Duck, cheering each other on all the way. Just not too early in the AM, though. I am retired-well, sort of and do take sleeping in seriously! Barry is retired and while I'm not quite old enough yet to actually retire, his plan is good enough that I'm able to stay home these days.

Welcome to Aleks and Lilla! :welcome:

Nancy, you've got some prutty good idears there. But DW and I are earlier risers. We will probably be knocking on the attends cabin door at 5:00am to come out so we can ride Donald's AquaDuck!!! :lmao::rotfl2:

Glad to hear your DH planned well so you could relax along with him. Wish DW and I had done that too.

Just wanted to let all of you know...............I will officially be a man of leisure at 4:00pm today. Yep..............today is my last full day of work!!! Starting next week I just work 3 short days!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Ya'll have a great day today!!! Talk to you again real soon!!!:thumbsup2

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been posting...

Wow...nice to see some newbies to this thread...:welcome: aboard.

Michael and I are getting ready for our cruise on the Magic on the 26th of this month... 7 day Eastern. Looking forward to that.

David...Congratulations!!!!!! on your retirement.:thumbsup2 :cheer2:

The AquaDuck...oh I just can't wait for that...if there is a group...let me know..I want to join!!!!!:woohoo::yay:

Have a great day and take care.....:flower3:

Luckymomoftwo, I did, it. I bit the bullet and used my AMEX card to purchase my airfare. I can pay that off on March 8th (within the 30 day time frame so I don't get charged interest, is that how it works?).
Feels good to have that done and out of the way!

SHERI, thanks for the Birthday Greeting here yesterday :woohoo: (not that I'm happy about being another year older. time to make another apt. at the salon to have my grey roots recolored :thumbsup2 )

David, I'm a night person. Guess that means I'll be knocking on your door, oh, say, around midnight! :rotfl2::lmao::yay:

Seroiusly, as a newbie cruiser, I have no idea when a good time for an AquaDuck meet would be since I have very little idea of what a normal cruise schedule is like. I do know I'll be changing my normal sleep pattern so I won't be left behind on our port stops. My normal 2AM bedtime doesn't seem to fit well with the cruise schedule! :earseek:

Monika, hope you have a great time on the Magic! :boat:

Just wanted to check in a say hi to everyone. And, to let you know how much I'm enjoying this semi-retirement of mine. I know it is still the week-end................but just knowing I don't have to go to work tomorrow is.....well....................:dance3::banana::cool1::cheer2:wonderful!!!!

Monika, you and your DH have a great time on your up coming cruise. We all are so jealous that we aren't going with you. Post some photo's of your cruise. We all would love to see them.

Well, got to go and relax some more!!!! (If only that was the truth:sad2:........I really am going to go and do my excercises on the ol' torture machine!!!!):scared1::scared1::scared1:

Well perfectmatch300, DW and I are pretty heavy sleepers. We probably won't hear you if you just knock. (DW snores don't you know!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:) You probably will have to really bang on the door to wake us up!!! But I think we are planning on altering our sleep schedule too. We want to hit some of the clubs on board, and check out some of the entertainment. This is going to be a GREAT cruise for us all!!!:thumbsup2:cool1:
