We got off the Disney Dream after spending 7 nights on board. We did back to back sailings, lucky us! Here is a quick review of the ship. I am in the process of putting together a much more comprehensive review including restaurants, Palo and Remy's included, and entertainment. I am no expert just a casual cruiser who can offer insight to families... I have two kids who loved the trip.

Enjoy

Great report! My husband & I are planning a trip next April for a 7 night Eastern cruise with my 8 year old neice. We have no children of our own and my neice & I are Disney nuts, my husband is an old man at 46:lmao: Any opinion on how he will like the cruise?

We been on Royal Caribbean (no kids w/us) and he enjoyed the cruise. I booked a verandah room, hoping that will give him an escape if he feels overwhelmed. Hope it's enough.

Great mini review. I'm so glad your little guy is doing well now. Our DD is 11months and I just read about febrile seizures. Must have been horrifying! Leave it to Disney to make what could have been a tragic trip, a tolerable one.

It was completely terrifying... They di so much more than they needed to... Actually assigned us a fairy godmother.

I can't wait to read more. We are currently booked on a B2B next fall on the Dream but are thinking of switching to a 7 day Magic. Which would you choose? Did you feel like you repeated a lot of things on the B2B?

The best thing about b2b is castaway cay you go twice... But you also go to Nassau twice which I don't like. I don't know what they have as far as entertainment on the magic, but the main production shows will be repeated. The minor entertainment is different on each cruise iejuggler, magician and such. We didn't care honestly... I dint know what the itinerary is on the magic but if you would like to stop at other places do that. IMO every Caribbean island is the same... CASTAWAY CAY IS GREAT!

That this is a cruise that should be enjoyed with kids.... Certainly if you are abig fan of Disney, go for it! There just is bot as much adult entertainment on the boat. The Disney shows are great but the other entertainment left a little to be desired. As many know there is no casino on board and I know a lot of people take that into consideration. The bars weren't hopping as I have seen in other cruise lines. With only two stops, I would think that some adults would want to see more. That being said people w/o kids could certainly enjoy the boat... New restaurants, Remy's and the sort. Obviously if you are looking into Disney in the first place you must be some sort of fan, but there are obviously more cruise lines geared towards adults... That's all.

Great review but I also dont understand why it is not for people without kids?? Thats how it all started for me and my husband. Back in 1999 we booked a 4 day land and 3 night cruise and we had a great time (before Kids). My thought is if you can enjoy time at the bar with you and your wife while your kids are in the clubs why can't someone without kids do the same? Enjoy the bars without kids. Sorry I dont mean to sound rude at all I just disagree with that part, other than that you wrote alot of information for us. Well I will find out in Nov 2011. Thanks for your report

I answers some if your questions... This wasn't necessarily a review for people that are fans of Disney, just that there might be other cruise lines more geared toward adults. You can definitely have a good time but you would have a great time if you had kids

What advice can anyone share a first timer ( Disney Dream in May ). Best Dining Seating? Spa Treatements 9 ( Wife and I )? What not to miss? 3 Day to start. Looking forward to it...:cool1:

Just curious as to why you wouldn't recommend this to people without children??

Because those who cruise without kids on DCL must be some "whacko" grownup fan of Donald Duck per the OP's blog.

Don't worry, there are a lot of fellow whackos onboard who don't mind the lack of casinos or Vegas style shows that the OP misses. :goodvibes

Great report!:thumbsup2 I see that you were on Oasis how would you compare?popcorn::

It is just one persons thought that child-less adults may not enjoy DCL. People are entitled to their opinions. Having said that, many people choose DCL for thier outstanding service, gorgeous ships, and disney detail. I know thats why I cruise with Disney. The kids clubs are important, but definately not a deciding factor for me.

Obviously if you are looking into a Disney Cruise you know what it is about... Beautiful ship, great shows, excellent service. That being said the kids club is a huge draw for Disney. Something it has that no other line has. Obviously its personal preference when it comes to whichine you go on. The Oasis of the Seas is something you can't even compare to this ship. There is much more to do on the Oasis it's not even close, of course the Oasis is twice as big. I know a lot of adults w/o kids that don't want a million of them around which is what you will get on this cruise. If I didn't have kids I would not go on this cruise. There are plenty of other lines with better itineraries and that are cheaper. But ultimately it's up to you.

I have 4 children 2 teenagers 15 & 18 & 2 younger 6 & 9. We have been on the Magic numerous times, skipping the Dream waiting for the Fantasy but I have the Allure booked for next February so I was curious of your opinion.;)

Great review. I also disagree about it not being for people without kids. I will see as my DH and I are going without kiddies in a few weeks.

In all honesty one of the main reasons I choose Disney is because I don't want all the typical adult entertainment or vegas type shows. I guess I am a kid at heart!

On the Magic we had the comedians Alfred and Seymour. They were hysterical and completely family friendly at the main show. They had a later show for "adults only" one night. My Father (72 yo) said he wanted to skip it because he doesn't like the 'adult kind of humor that is out there these days". I said Dad its Disney, I swear there won't be any foul language. He said he bet me the "f" work would be used. I said I would take that bet. He came and of course there was no foul language at all. The themes were more adult, but not trashy or vulgar. That is why I love going to Disney. Some of us adult don't want to be entertained that way and while I enjoy some slot machines, I can get off at Nassau and do that. I don't want to spend my cruise around that kind of atmoshere. We drink but aren't bar people, so we aren't missing anything on the other ships. The only reason I would try RCL or some of the other lines is simply price. I guess it boils down to I feel "safe" on Disney. And if that means I travel with kids and families, that is ok with me!

I completely agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I realize that most adults without kids probably won't choose Disney. However why resort to name calling in your review that you link to your post and call those who desire to travel on DCL whacko adults who love Donald Duck.

...

When we first cruised on DCL my DH was reluctant, to say the least. He was overjoyed, however, when he discovered the comfy teak loungers on deck 4 (Magic/Wonder), an open deck that he loved to visit & read (snooze, more accurately)! He is a total convert now, after 10 years of DCL, & while he still opts to relax in the room & on deck 4 *primarily*, he has also really gotten used to the wonderful service...24 hour room service, in particular & freedom to be as active or relaxed as you desire!! I still drag him to adult activities on occasion (like cooking demos & tastings), but he feels so at home now, everyone can go running around & he is content to do his own thing: including.... :happytv:

Count DH & I in the whacko group...but he prefers Tigger!! :lmao:
