Disney Dream - October 9, 2011 - 4 Nights

This is our first time. What does everyone else do for excursions? Are they worth it? We are doing WDW after the cruise so not sure I really want to shell out a whole lot of money but at the same time, not sure when we'll get to do this again so want to make the most of it. I know it sounds silly but I am only looking forward to Bingo :lmao: and CC. Does everyone normally get off on the port? I want to see Nassau but it wouldn't kill me if we didn't do excursions. My DS are 12 and 6 if this helps. Thanks!

Our first cruise was 3 days last September, it was after 5 days at Disney. We did not do any excursions and still had a great time. We did go off the ship for a couple of hours in Nassau just my DH and I (Kids stayed at the Club) we went for a walk, shopping.

I wish we could of done Atlantis but I could not justify the expense for a family of 5. Castaway was really fun, no excursion either, just a fun day at the beach. We ended up going back to the ship early because the twins got sea lice :scared1: after we saw the medic, we went back to the ship. I have to say that was the most fun we had because it felt like a ghost ship!! Everyone was at CC, the kids got the pool to themselves :dance3:

The only thing I wanted to do was a massage, my legs were killing me after WDW but there was no appointments left :sad2:

Our first time too and I have that same question, we are thinking of getting off of the ship later on in the morning at Nassau (to shop), but that is it. We are doing WDW after the cruise too and we'll have our DD 6 with us, either way I think we will have plenty to do.

This time I think we will be going to the Hilton In Nassau. You can get a Day pass for the beach and pool. The kids like the beach to play in the sand but they are not so fond of the salty water. I know they would love to swim in a large pool, since on the ship you can't swim.

The hotel is beautiful and is walking distance of the pier, straw market.

Bummer, we were thinking of staying on ship in Nassau too - just poking out for some shopping - and get in some explore time while it's less crowded. But from reading around, it sounds like everyone skips Nassau and checks out the ship on the short cruises. So much for less crowded. Was hoping for some good Spa discounts since it's a port day ;)

Oh, wait.... I guess that means I need to step away from the chocolate :rolleyes1 and hurry up and get ready for swimsuit season :scared1:

We are thinking of doing the straw market and the pirate museum. can anyone give me any input on them.....

Hi all! I just had a thought (dangerous, I know....:rolleyes1) -- I have seen some posts where people have a "logo" for their cruise -- like the DCL logo and the mickey ears in the center have a Santa hat on it for a December cruise (with the cruise date, etc.) Does anyone have any ideas for doing something like that for our cruise? Maybe something with pumpkins, or Mickey dressed for Halloween, or whatever our cruise "name" has been decided? I am not nearly that good with graphics to be able to do it myself, but is anyone out there have any thoughts or up to the challenge? :cheer2:

I love the idea... but am not super technographic-y. I'd love to see what someone could come up with :cheer2:

Ohhhhh, a challenge:upsidedow? We'll get to work right away on some ideas. As in "we'll" I mean my DW, I'll just oversee things.:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2
Great idea Andie.
I have been trying to come up with something for our family to have on our shirts but nothing inspires me yet. A logo for our cruise may be just the thing we need.

By the way, I have been thinking also about all the things I need to do and all the events coming up prior to the cruise and I have decided I do not have the time I would need to devote to "good" FE gifts. Please remove us from the FE exchange. Maybe next time.

I am training to walk the Nashville Women's Half Marathon. Anyone want to join me? I will be walking not running.:rolleyes1

Hi there,

I think this may be my first time posting in this section! We had to move our Halloween cruise up a couple weeks so this is our new sail date! It will be me, my husband, and our 5 year old daughter. She is extremely excited, this is our first cruise.

May I ask when we can start booking our excursions? (I'm just regular old person... no silver or whatnot) I cannot remember the booking dates and my paperwork is buried somewhere (we recently moved to another city so everything is a mess, including my brain)

Thank you.

:welcome: Glad to have you onboard. Don't worry, there are other first timers like myself too, we'll muddle through it all. My DD is very excited too. I'll let her know there is another kiddo her age coming too.

Should be 75 days to book excursions, same as the PIF date. This is our first Disney cruise so I am anxiously waiting for the date. For some reason July 26 sticks out in my head. So somewhere in July I believe.

I looked my reservation online and it said I can start booking onboard fun and Port Adventures on July 11, 2011. Not sure if it took into account that I'm a silver CC member?

But you could find the info easily by looking online on DCL website. On the "Get reservation" tab, enter your ressie number and you account will pop up with the your info including the dates for booking, filling document, etc.
