Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Quick update on my FIL'S road to his passport. Spent two long days trying to get requested infomation only to find out that we will have to pay for the 1940 census as it isn't out free till 2012. In desperation we called the passport department and finally was told they couldn't understand why it wasn't approved unless not all the documents had been sent in by the local postoffice. So we made copies of everything requested and wrote a letter explaining the circumstances and sent it certificated. So now I will just hold my breath until we hear. By the way the cruise line said they might not be able to accept the delayed birth certificate even though it did have a raised seal. Thanks for all the helpful words and prayers.

Gloria
Oh, no. I'm so sorry you are going through this - I never considered the cruise line not accepting his BC. I really hope everything works out - you have some time so surely they will be able to get his documentation. I would be calling the passport department a LOT in the next few weeks to get them moving!

I can't believe in 2 months we'll be relaxing on Castaway Cay. :cool1::banana:

Hey, anyone here do any geocaching? Just curious, as we're hoping to find a couple in the Bahamas so we can find some outside the U.S. :)

Gloria, I am holding my breath, crossing my fingers and sending out pixie dust that the passport issue will be resolved with the papers you sent in!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Glad y'all are happy with your FE lists:thumbsup2 I am so excited to participate as no-one did this on our other 3 cruises:yay::yay::yay:

It has been a long week already, as many of my students had to readjust back to the school schedule after Spring Break.:teacher: They all wanted to go to sleep (me too, but I didn't think that would go over well!:faint:)

Is it June yet?!!!!!:beach::beach: (Just Double Dippin'!)

It looks like crowds are somewhat low that whole week, other than Saturday and Sunday (and even then worse at HS bc of SWW), and the whole week after we get back. The next week it goes up to almost all 8s and 9s.

My guess is that a lot of schools aren't out yet, or they're JUST out, so people haven't really started their summer vacations yet. Hopefully this holds true, looks like it shouldn't be too bad as it stands. Now if only the weather (and humidity) will also cooperate, it will be perfect!

Looking forward to our Dole Whip mini meet! I'm ready for some Dole Whip now!!!!

Ok, *********** will be meeting us too! I bet you are right about school not being out and the crowd level. That will be nice. We are actually going to try and go to Hollywood Studios on Saturday...and I am not a rope drop kind of gal! But we will wait in line for the new Star Tours, no problem, and hope to get lucky with a fast pass for Toy Story Mania.

I sure wish our weather here would warm up a little!

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!!

It's a glorious sunny and bright day today!!! I hope all is well with you!
I have refound live365 internet radio and park hopper radio! with just 51 days till we are in the parks, it's fun to listen to all the sounds from there!!

Crystal, thanks for keeping the front page straight! We too, just kinda wing our Disney vacations any more, so I am not sure if we'll be in the MK on that Friday, but if so, we might just find our way to Aloha Isle!

Gloria, still praying that all goes well and you get FIL's passport taken care of!!

I am also SO happy to hear that the crowd levels will be low! Our school calendar was to end the Friday before Memorial Day, but with snow days, it's been extended to the 9th. We already had this vacation planned, so the boys will miss a few days. Over spring break I'll write letters to teachers and coaches to make sure all finals are completed before we leave. Connor will also miss the first week of non-mandetory football practice. It's not mandetory, but is frowned upon if you miss! Oh well.... I do wish that he could use the fitness room on the ship, but I understand they are very adament about no kids in there. Maybe I can get him to run on deck...we'll see!

time to flip the wash and go out and see if the lawn is dry enough to cut. More rain is expected for tomorrow night, so I figure I better get it done today. It's my most dreaded chore. BLAH!!

Make it a GREAT day!!

well, Dag-nabbit! I am so sad!! As you know, we are cruising with a large group. We have planned on getting 2 cabanas for one of our Castaway Cay days. Mostly for the older members to seek shade and shelter from the sun. Wellllll, I was checking out the boards here (not cutting grass like I should be!) and it seems that DCL has opened up the online reservations for cababans! I scurry over to DCL's site, and lo and behold...they are SOLD OUT!?!?! I call DCL in hopes that both days at CC are not showing? Nope, he says they are sold out. Steve is livid. Why didn't they send us an email telling us we could book online? Why, when we put the money in our OBC, did they not say...check around the 13th, we are looking to open online booking? Instead, they told us to get to the port early so we could be on the ship early and head to the Excursion Desk first thing. He says he's going to call later...I can't imagine it will do any good. I'll just keep checking back daily and see if I can get 2 booked....and hopefully, side by side! Yeah, I know, good luck with that! *sigh* I am off to take out my frustrations on the lawn!!

Hey, anyone here do any geocaching? Just curious, as we're hoping to find a couple in the Bahamas so we can find some outside the U.S. :)

My husband and 10 yr old son LOVE geocaching! I am sure they would love to find one or two in the Bahamas. Let me know if you want to consider going as a group! :thumbsup2

Quick question - does any one know if there's a formal night on our 5 night cruise?

I was thinking that it was only a semi-formal night. Then today I got an email about all the extras I could order for our cabin and it mentioned that there was at least one formal night on our cruise.

I was told that the 4th night would be "dress up night". That's how the CM worded it when we talked about celebrating my Inlaws 50th. She didn't say formal though, she said dress up. Take that for what you will. Our family is not normally formal people and we don't want to have to bring formal wear. You will find us in our regular dining room duds!

We'll probably go quick and easy in Nassau just to say we got one since I'm not sure how much time we'll have around our excursion. Make sure they know to look up Castaway Cay before they go! pirate:

:yay::yay:Happy Friday Everyone!!!:yay::yay:

Only 8 more Fridays until we leave for our "Dream" Cruise!!:cheer2::cheer2: Hope you have all had a good week and will have a great weekend! Rachel's Prom is Saturday, so we have a full afternoon getting her hair done and all that goes with getting ready for the Prom. Her SpEd Teacher has arranged for all of the class to go to dinner together and then the 11th & 12th graders will go on to the Prom. We are meeting at the Lakefront for pictures and then a Limo will take them to dinner and the Prom. I will have the evening to myself until it's time to pick her up at 11:00 or so. So what will I do with all of that alone time? (probably just hang on the DisBoards!!)

Happy Friday Fellow Cruisers!!!

Tammy, I love the countdown! So much nicer to say 8 Fridays, then to say 58 days! But then again, either way sounds WONDERFUL!!! and I can't imagine the waves of emotions you are going through!!! Graduation, PROM! Wow.... So exciting!!! You'll have to post photos for us! and Rachel, Have FUN!!!

Another sunny start to the day, but it looks like storms are a brewin' out west and will be here tonight! I need to run out and get gas in my truck and maybe a few groceries before the onslaught! Oh, and Harry Potter comes out today, so I'll have to pick that up. I am not a fan...I know, WHAT??...but Colton is and has read all the books. We actually never got to the theater to see this movie, so he'll be happy if I buy it! Maybe that's what we'll do tonight..Pizza and Potter!

Have a great day!!

We're not formal people either LOL. That's why I was a bit panicky when I got the email. David does have a suit. Since Disney definition of formal is tux or suit for men that's what he'd bring. If we had Palo reservations we'd definately be packing it. But since we don't I was hoping not to have to pack his suit. Or my dress for that matter.

Tammy - How exciting about Rachel's prom! I hope she has a wonderful evening!

Hi Ashman. Just wanted to let you know that I just read your First DCL Trip Report (the one from 2007) and thoroughly enjoyed it. You have a lovely family. Did you do a Trip Report from that last cruise? I love your writing style. Look forward to meeting you and your family on this cruise.

:yay::yay:Only 2 more months!!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Yes I did you can see it here. It was a good trip, I think my first report was better. I am hoping to get another one rolling soon!

I just read the whole first report today also! (at work ) - what a great report! especially the scavenger hunt you did for the girls! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: So cute :cutie: - we did a couple hunts on Christmas for our kids, too - I have a cute video of them searching for their Nintendo DS's last year. So fun to do and the look on their faces when they find the "prize" is priceless!

Thanks! We gave the cruise as a Christmas present this year, here is a video of the reveal:

:cutie: You did good, Ashman. Funny when they kinda got bummed when they didn't see a "C" at first

I made the mistake of telling the kids WAY too early! I get too excited about it! :rotfl:  The kids said in the future, let them know when the countdown is 10 days or less - not 450! :rolleyes1
