Our first cruise

Can't wait...will check back often.
Julie

Welcome aboard! I know you will enjoy your Disney Cruise and they can help you celebrate your anniversary. Your family will enjoy Castaway Cay and I'm sure the entire Ship also. Can't wait to explore the new Disney Dream.

Thank you very much. We are so happy we found this forum. Believe it or not we read every post in this thread the very first day we signed on.

What a pleasant experience and it makes one feel as if they are among friends.

Julie....

Where I live, we teachers start back tomorrow and the students join us the next week. That's one milestone closer to The Dream. Next ones to tick off...Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, The Dream! Yeah, I love marking things off my To Do list!

Just checking in after a long absence. Our summer has been super busy. We just returned from a VERY HOT trip to Washington, DC for our son's birthday trip. It was our first time in D.C. and it's an amazing city. The history and power can be felt everywhere.
It's been fun waiting for our Dream Cruise and it's nice to see how excited we all are. This will be a fun time being with all the dis'ers. I can't wait to start seeing reviews come in.

Welcome and Congrats to all the new people who have joined in our wait.

I probably will be checking in once the kids go back to school at the end of Aug.

Sorry, I' haven't been around in a bit.
Planning some home improvements, working OT (love that extra money)
and planning our DC trip.

We leave tomorrow morning for 6 days.
We've read that it's very very hot, so you confirmed it. UGGG.
Can't wait to see it all again as an adult and of course my BF and son haven't been before at all.

Also excited that we're meeting up with some other DIS'ers while we in town.
disgrits lives nearby and is also on this cruise and some others from 2 previous cruises are also in VA. So we're all meeting up for dinner one night!:grouphug:

I'll be checking in now and again while sitting on the Metro or something like that.
Can't keep me away, or my son either, from our Droids:goodvibes

Welcome to more new cruisers!:yay:

Thank you. I have read about Shirley and her company The Perfect Gift, so I may just give her a call. I'm sure I can find her phone number somewhere. She and her company seem very popular, and I have only read good things about her. Thanks again to all of you for your help.

The basket Denise (triplefigs) sent was awesome, and I've loved all the things she's done for me -- I've done baskets/pails for the boys on the last three trips. I also had a friend I was traveling with send me a basket on the last trip and it was great. Shirley is terrific!

Happy Birthday to all my fellow Leo's!

We just got back from Atlantis. It was gorgeous and we had a terrific time. What was cool but also depressing, was our room looked out to port, so we saw the Wonder come in twice to port. I would have loved to have been on her! :goodvibes

Have a good week everyone!

WOW, good for you! :worship: I meant to read all those pages right away, but somehow I haven't yet. You are now inspiring me to do that right after coffee tomorrow morning! I'm looking forward to this school year, but I also can't wait for it to be next June either!

Happy Monday to all

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

Page 3 is NOT a good place to be! It was hard to find you all!!!

Welcome to the newest cruisers! Again, I can't wait to get to know you all better! And yes, it's great to "know" people before you set sail! Then we can meet up at the pool or just say HI! in passing down the hall! I have the feeling I will know more people on this cruise, than not!

I can't believe that school starts back on Monday! This summer and ZOOMED right passed and I don't like it, not one bit! I am not ready for them to go back to school! It just doesn't seem like it's time! We never made it to the pool, not once, this whole summer. Crazy.....

Colton is at band, I've already started the second load of wash...it's bed stripping day...ugh. Have to shower and get him by Noon, then have Connor to football by 3 for pictures and practice. It's a crazy, busy life, but it's mine and I love it!

Make it a Great Day!!!!
Wishing you all a Disney Dream!!
Michele

Michele, what I have done is put the 1st page of this thread in my Favorites folder and then all I have to do is click on it and then click on "View First Unread" to get to the point where I left off reading. Or you can click on "Last" to go to the last page of the thread.

My daughter started school last Monday (Aug.9th) which is really early this year. But she is already in the swing of things and really likes it. But you are right, the summer flew by.

Hope all my fellow cruisers have a great evening!

Have a fun weekend. I see you live in Atlanta. We live in Alpharetta. Does your friend Herb have a restaurant locally? Good luck to him!

We are actually in the 'burbs - - in Douglasville. And, no, Herb doesn't have a restaurant locally, but with the exposure of the show, who knows what the future has in store for him?? He's an amazing chef (and he makes dishes that are very "clean" eating/healthy) so I could totally see him getting a restaurant. :thumbsup2

Julie (and crew) welcome to the party!

Wow, I just noticed we are below the 300 day mark--actually, 298 days to go!!!:banana: I hope Disney will post more pictures/videos soon showing the progress on the inside of the ship. I love watching the progress especially knowing we will see it in person in a few months!:cool1:

Hope everyone has a wonderful Disney Day!!!

My SIL is from Douglasville. Her parents, brother/wife/kids all still live there!

Wow! I missed alot by being too busy to check this thread. Looks like we have a great group! DD started high school this year on August 5th. She decided to join the marching band and it has kept us busy! They had 2 weeks of band camp and now that school has started the practice afterschool for 2 hours on Monday and 3 hours each day on Tuesday and Thursday. We had a full day Saturday practice scheduled on Aug 7th but they had to cancel due to the extreme heat. First dress rehearsal is Friday night and they have their first halftime performance at the Georgia Dome on Saturday. She loves band, but it is wearing me out! My students returned to class on August 12th and we have had a smooth start. We are going to WDW in September and can't wait. Then, the countdown for the cruise really starts. For now we are just Dreamin'!

School starts tomorrow. Yea!! Not sure who is more excited - our son or mom and dad.

Does anyone have an idea when the land reservations before the cruise might open up for first time cruisers?

Hey guys!
I can relate to the band thing!! I have been a band Mom for 7 years now. Just got back from their 1st performance for this year. The marching band played before they introduced all the football players at the school. Kind of a pre-school pep rally. They start school on Monday and the 1st game is on Friday. I know about the heat. They just finished their 3rd week of summer band and the heat index has been running 105 to 106 degrees. actual temp over 100. My son is used to it now. He knows to keep really hydrated!
I really love football season:dance3:
It will help time go by faster while we countdown

Well, heading off to Gulf Shores, AL for the weekend. My two sisters, my daughter and I were invited by a family friend to stay with her at her condo for the weekend. It will be a nice girls weekend visiting and lounging by the pool.:cool1: (Can't wait until the pool I'm lounging by is one of the pools on the Dream!!!):cheer2:

Hope everyone has a great day and a fantastic weekend!!!

we had this last Friday. we call it Meet the Team. It's a ticketed event, but it gets you a dinner and it's a HUGE fundraiser. Usually, the band plays as the team takes the field that night, but we were still at band camp, so the team ran out with a recording of the fight song! LOL Oh well!!! Our first day of school is also Monday and the first game on Friday. Connor's middle school football team as a scrimmage on Monday..the first day of school!!! WHAT was the coach thinking?? There is so much going on, and to do, on that first day and night. Oh well...we'll muddle through some how!

Tammy and Rachel...have a great, relaxing weekend!!!

Tomorrow is the City Wide yard sale, so the band is setting up in front of the high school. We have taken in donations of "stuff" and we are setting up concession, bake sale and car wash. Have to be at school for set up at about 7am. sale is from 8-2. Then break down. going to be a long day....IF I stay all day. We'll see how we do for volunteers. I may start the day, then leave and come back. So today I made 4 batches of chocolate chip cookie bars and 48 muffins. I thought it might be a good morning sale item! too bad we aren't setting up a coffee pot! hmmm.....

Off to switch the wash one more time, and get some shut eye!!

Wishing you all a Disney Dream! :cloud9:

I want to say75 days for new cruisers and 90 for returning

We are gearing up for another school year too! Our pre-planning week was this past week. Monday is Open House and first day of classes are on Wednesday! I am super excited for this year. This will be my third year teaching but I have some expanded duties this year. Each week I have 32 classes with a total of 253 students 3rd through 6th grade. It is a VERY full schedule but I love teaching Latin and the kids are GREAT!

WHEW - sounds busy, busy!! I'm sure it will be a great success, though.

Hi all. Sounds like everyone is having a great (and hot) summer. Just like I like it. Being originally from Atlanta, Pennsylvania summers can be depressing to me. Just not hot enough. Definitely not long enough. This summer has been great, but I definitely feel it coming to an end. The leaves are already changing here and there and it's only going to be in the 70s this week. I'm so sad. :sad1:

My DS starts 1st grade next week and DD doesn't start preschool until September. Again, so sad. Summer was so much fun. But the sooner we get started, the sooner the cruise will come.

Anyone ever done the Atlantis resort during a previous Disney cruise? We are really trying to make this happen albeit an expensive excursion. I have heard to do the room at the Comfort Suites at the entrance of the property. Just don't know if that's the way to go. Any help at all would be very helpful. TIA.
