Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Just found this thread. This is our fourth cruise. We will be celebrating 2 graduations, a 50th birthday, and a 20th anniversary.
Traveling will be me, DW, DD(18), DS(14)
We are in cabin 10068.

Rachel and I had a very nice weekend in Gulf Shores with my 2 sisters visiting a long-time family friend.:grouphug: It just wasn't long enough!!:sad2: Now I'm trying to catch up on laundry.:laundy: Back to work (for me) and school (for Rachel). Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I agree with Rose that this thread is a little slow. I know we are all busy, but let's post more!! We need to make the time until our cruise go by a little faster!!!

Have a great evening!!!

:welcome: Glad you found us. I'm Tammy and my daughter Rachel will be joining me. We will be celebrating her Graduation. This will be our second Disney cruise. Getting very excited!!!

Why HEELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO There!
It's been a while since I've been here, and I always smile when I get here cause I know it's Cruise-A-Palooza time! I'm Mike from the Chicagoland area. This will be our 5th cruise. There are 5 of us DW Heather, Cameron (boy 10), Heidi (8), and Garrett (3).Cabin # 8586. Looking forward to all the new stuff... including the drinks. I can't wait to meet all of you.

Crystal: Any word on the DVC points issue? We are going to talk to the other family that is traveling with us about Atlantis. When their boys were here in June (age 6 and 8), they weren't too keen on the waterslides when we all went to the waterpark together. And Paige will still be too little for all the waterslides. I'm thinking maybe just doing the Atlantis beach day and not doing the waterpark. Decisions, decisions. I really want to do Parasailing and/or jet skiing in CC, so I don't want to spend all the Excursion $$$ in Nassau at Atlantis when we won't be using the facility to the fullest extent. I feel like with 3 days in port, staying on the Dream and exploring might be more fun. I know for fact this won't be our last cruise, and when Paigey is a little older, maybe do Atlantis then.

We are BBQing with my boss and co-workers on Friday and my boss is a big Atlantis buff. Goes at least once a year if not twice. So will be picking his brain this week to see what his input is as well.

DH and I are considering renewing our wedding vows on the Dream. Even though it will be a little overdue, we are celebrating 10 years this October. So I guess technically we'll be celebrating 10 years and 8 months. Anyway, anyone ever done this with DCL. Not even sure what the Dream will offer with regards to this. It's still in the works, so we'll see.

:welcome: Mike and family. Our Cruise Board is really growing! I am Tammy and will be cruising with my DD Rachel (22). Can't wait to meet all of you too. And especially can't wait to get aboard and explore the Dream. Only 292 more days to go!!!:cool1:

Ana, regarding the DVC points issue, apparently DVC just announced that it was not allowing new cruises from now to September, 2011 to be booked on points. What's worse is that the decision was handed down without notifying the members...the option was there one day and gone the next. With that said, however, it appears that DVC is working with DCL and that, from what I've read, members are being allowed to book certain cruises, so I think the outcry has been noted by DVC. We'll see how this develops but as DVC members we are not guaranteed the right to use our points for cruises...its just a perk, so if they take it away, there really is nothing we can do about it.

About renewing your vows...how freakin' awesome would that be? Go to Disneywedding.com and I'm sure you can get the full scoop at renewing your vows on the cruises. I'm so excited for you guys...that really would be so amazing.

Hi everyone!! I've missed catching up on everyone's posts! We went on vacation to upstate NY 2 weeks ago. I have family North of Syracuse, soo nice up there! much cooler then the 100+ days here in Dallas!! :lmao: I have tons of pictures to go through still, I'll post some hopefully this week! We went to Niagara Falls while we were there. Just wonderful! If you are ever there I highly recommend Donatello's Pizza on 3rd street, Great food, great owner, he was soo funny!!
Last week was the back to school rush and the kids started today!! it's my girls first day of their last year of Elementary school and one of my boys first day of his last year of Middle school! We are still hoping the girls get into the school I have them on the waiting list for. We are a choice of school district, and well lets just say that only works if people can do/handle paperwork correctly!
I hope everyone is doing great and I'm going to go catch up on posts!!:dance3:

Hey Rose!! I know where Liverpool is now!! lol I drove through it twice and spent our first night there! My aunt's Fiancée lives there! he does remodeling, great guy too!

Glad you enjoyed your trip!
I'd bet that our area is much cooler than yours. I can't imagine your heat.
UGG!
Isn't Liverpool exciting:rolleyes:
Got to say though the cost of living beats most other places and our housing market really didn't drop in this recession.
(Even though I wished I lived in lots of other places;))

So wait...you guys have already booked your cruise though. Didn't you use points? So doesn't that mean you'd be okay? Or have you not applied your points to your cruise yet? Sorry to be to airheaded about this. I don't know anything about DVC.

No, we're definitely okay...we booked our cruise on points and aren't planning on making any changes. However, for those who want to make changes or who haven't yet converted their cruise to points, they are going to have a rough go of it. My only hope is that DVC/DCL receives enough backlash that they rethink this new policy straightaway. BUT, again, the ability to use points for cruises is not set in stone, so if the policy isn't changed, that's just something that members will have to live with... :guilty:

Just checking in :surfweb:Welcome to all newcomers:banana:cant wait to see the Dream :cool1:does anyone know if we will have FE on the ship ???

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!

Just popping in to say HI!! Life is crazy busy!! Today, not so bad! I have no where to go and no where to be...so house cleaning will be the main focus for today!

I am a little disheartened to hear that DVC is choosing to not let members book cruises using points. That was one of the reasons we had thought about buying DVC. We weren't really ready to buy for maybe another year, so I guess we'll just wait it out and see what happens!

WELCOME to the newest cruisers!! I can not wait for the fun in the sun!!! We have went from scorching summer temps (in the 90s) to very comfy fall like temps (in the 70s) nearly over night! I like the cooler weather, but miss the warmth. I am thinking I'll have to wear jeans and take a jacket to the football game Friday night! and it's still August!! crazy!! I hope this isn't a precursor to what our winter weather will be like!

Well, Mr Clean awaits...and us women know, NOT to keep a man waiting!!! I'll crank up some Margaritaville Radio on the TV and get to it!

Wishing you all a Disney Dream of a day!!!

Thanks for the "Welcomes". After reading the posts I realized that I only have 291 days to get into fighting shape. LOL

Good first day of school for the kids (2nd and 4th grade). They were happy to see their friends and luckily liked their teachers.
Sydney found out today that she is going to be in the Des Moines Ballet production of Nutcracker as a Bon Bon. She is excited. :woohoo:

Soooo glad that tomorrow is Friday!! My work week has not been a very good one. :sad2: Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.:goodvibes And then there is always the weekend to look forward to!! Better yet, the cruise to look forward to.:cheer2: Hope that everyone has a good evening!

DMMoM- that's wonderful for your daughter, very exciting!!

Well I thought that with school starting this week i'd be able to catch up on posts and explore the site more:lmao::rotfl2: what was I thinking?

I have 8 girl scouts coming over this evening with mom's and the siblings that tag along and wow did my house need cleaning! We are having a back to school fiesta and paying of the dues and all that jazz. the girls will have a blast swimming! Though it's amazing how quickly the pool can cool off when the night temps flirt with upper 60's! Last week the pool temp was a bathy 95 this week, 87!

My girls will start a new school Monday! I just got the transfer ok to a different school. We were on a couple of waiting lists but those schools are full and show no sign of getting spots anytime soon! After the defeated looks on my daughters faces already this week I gave our original 3rd school choice another shot and they had 2 spots! I am a very forgiving person and understand how teaching works and can talk my girls through pretty much any situation and give them the reasons behind the supposed madness, but being on both sides on the teaching perspective, there are just things that I cannot justify. And when it's still the same stuff that my boys went through, it's time to jump ship! :rotfl:

Has anyone checked out the netflix app for the iphone?!?! it's great!! I can now watch what I want when the kids have monopolized the TVs!! :cool1:

Have a Great Weekend everyone!!:cool2:

It got really cooler here as well. Man I hated those hot summer days.
Don't know how I'd ever survive living down south.
And all those bugs......EEEEWWWWW.
The one taxi driver we had in DC was telling us the year the 7 year locusts hatched and were everywhere. She said you couldn't go outside without getting them near you, all over cars, streets, etc. Double EEEEWWWW!

As much as I hate our harsh winters, maybe I'll be rethinking that moving down south someday.

Love, love, LOVE! FALL!:goodvibes
