Disney Dream - June 12, 2011

Oh good! Sometimes I get nervous before I hit the purchase button for 4 airfares! It is nice to think about how HOT it is on Castaway Cay....or even the MCO airport. It's a balmy 24 degrees or so here in Pittsburgh!!!

Thanks for your advice!

Happy Friday My Fellow Cruisers!!!!

Hope everyone had a good week and that you have a great weekend!!

Only 184 more days until we board the Dream!!:yay::yay: Can't wait!!

Happy Friday everyone!:cool1:

I feel behind. No airfare. Not sure where we're staying Saturday night. Not sure how we're getting to the port. 6 months out for our WDW trips and I have most of that done! Even my husband said last night that we need to start booking that stuff LOL.

To be honest though I probably won't book airfare until closer to 3 months out. That seems to be when I find the best prices. You'd think being the home hub for both Southwest and American we'd get decent deals but nooo....:headache: I need to check into the on-ship airline checkins to see exactly how that works and the participating airlines.

Anyone used the DCL transfers before? If so, what did you think? Trying to weigh using DCL and not having to deal with the lugguage but on a bus with everyone vs. private towncar and having to deal with lugguage. DH said last night he doesn't want to mess with a rental car. (Guess that means we'll be staying at the MCO Hyatt Saturday ;))

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

Just saw on Facebook that Disney "officially" took the helm of the Dream! YAY!! :cool1::thumbsup2
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...?CMP=SOC-DPFY11Q1Twitter12.10.1010-12-10@0015

Tracy, can't help you too much, we have always driven or rented a car. We like the flexablity of having our own car allows, like being able to stop at a store, stay where we want, eat where we want, and not have to depend on someone else getting us there. We are on our own schedule. I guess we don't have that many bags, so I don't think of it as a bother....but the boys are older and help. If they were smaller, I could see the convenience of having a car pick you up and not have to fool with it.

I am not going to worry about cruise planning until after the holidays now. I still need a hotel for Thursday before the cruise, then a USO hotel for Friday (hoping for Hard Rock) and then a Disney post cruise hotel...or book into one of our timeshares....which would be the best option since they are paid for, but you lose the Disney spirit when you stay there....that's why we would love to sell them, but in this economy? Better to let it ride awhile.

Anyway, hit Walmart today. Our cupboards were nearly bare and with this huge winter storm heading our way, I wanted to have some stuff! Going to take the boys to the mall tomorrow, mainly to see Tuba Christmas. Colton had never heard of it, and when he searched it up on YouTube, he was hooked! He plays the sax, but is a band geek at heart. Then the school Winter Formal and a friend's annual party. THEN the snow for Sunday. Hoping for a snow day Monday! Hey, if it HAS to snow, at least make it count, right?

Hope this finds you happy and healthy!

Sorry I have not been around for awhile. Been busy with sons Football and Lego Robotics. Just now looking into airfare. We might come in two days early and stay at Universal hotel or just come in for the cruise. For those who fly in the day before and stay at the Hyatt can you still use the Disney transportation? What other transportation companies have you used to get to port?

This is our first Disney Cruise and I promise it will not be my last question.

TIA
Mike

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!

Do you all remember about a month ago I won tickets to the Ohio State vs Penn State game? Well, I entered another contest on the same site and I won again! LOL This time, Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals! LOL We are from Cleveland, and Cincy is about a 3 hour drive for us. Good seats too....18th row up from the field, about the 20 yard line. Only problem, again, is it's only 2 tickets. My sister and BIL live in Dayton, so maybe they could meet us and take the boys for the day....or Steve and Connor could go again and Colton and I could go visit with my sister. My only fear is that it's going to be freezing cold and snowing!! It's December 19th at 1pm. We'll have to figure it all out!

I may run into you at the game. I also grew up in Cleveland but have been in Cinci for close to 20 years. I will be there with my son. But after that game against Buffalo I not sure I want to go

Hello Cruisers!
I hope you are enjoying your December holidays!

I haven't book our June air travel and I'm panicking! Because I don't have enough December holiday plans to panic about, :rotfl:

I need your advice!
DIS says:

Disney recommends on departure day that you not book a flight before 12:30 PM. There are times when the ship is delayed at the Port and you run the risk of missing your flight. Rushing to get to the airport is not the way to end your Disney cruise vacation.

I agree. But if my best choice is a 1:15PM Southwest airlines flight, am I cutting it too close? Our other choice would be 9:45PM

1:15 would be great...but I'm not a morning person. I remember the debarking morning as being all business...get up at 7, eat at 8, off the ship by 9....That must mean we can get to MCO by 11 am right?

I need some moral support. Who thinks 1:15 pm will be fine? DH would not want to rent a car, see the Kenedy space center and take the 9:45 flight...um, that would be my choice! :)

Thanks if you have time to answer!

It will be fine.
I've booked a flight around noon before and made it there in plenty of time:goodvibes

My son did the Lego Robotics in high school for 2 years:goodvibes

I believe that in order to use the Disney transport you have to be coming in from the airport.... and only MCO..... or be staying on property, the good neighbor hotels don't qualify either.

I've rented a car a few times. It ends up being cheaper to rent one way each way and drop off and pick up at Port Canaveral than to price individual Disney transport.
I have also used Sunrise Florida transportation: http: //www.transportationflorida.com/

They were awesome! The price about equaled out to what we would have paid Disney, but it was more personal and we only rode with our family.

But still, renting a car each way is cheapest:thumbsup2

Hey Mike!
Where in Cleveland are you from? I grew up in Bay Village, my parents are still there, Steve grew up in North Ridgeville, his parents have since moved back to Clarksburg, WV, where they grew up! We have decided to gift the tickets to my sister and brother in law! Steve has to work that day, there's only 2 tickets, that means I could take one boy, but that leaves the other one out. It was the best option for us, this time! there will be more games, I am sure!

Enjoy the game!

Only 6 more months. I can't wait since winer officially hit IA this weekend.

This was our "culture" weekend. Saturday night we saw the local theater production of Cinderella. Not the Disney twist, but still it was good.
Today was the Nutcracker. Sydney did great. She was a bon bon and looked so cute. Now we can enjoy the rest of December with no place to go.
I work 4 days this week and have ear surgery on Friday, then off the rest of the year. I had bad ears as a child and my hearing in one ear has gotten progressively worse over the years. If cleaning out the scar tissue doesn't work, then I will be getting a hearing aide.
To all those in the snow and cold, keep warm and "Dream" about cruising.

Wow! Isn't it great to be able to say only 6 more months?:yay: I can remember when we celebrated only "1 more year"!!! I know we usually say time goes by too fast, but I really want these last six months to go by fast!! I am so excited!! DMMom, hope all goes well with your ear surgery. Will say a prayer for you. While we don't have snow, it's getting really cold here for the next couple of days. Well, cold for Southern Louisiana, anyway. Hope everyone has a good week!!:flower3:

I grew up in North Olmsted until I was 10 and then we moved to Akron. The weather looks a little cold on Sunday for the game with a high of 23 so you might have made the right decision to give the tickets away.

Yeah, I'll be glad when winter is over! And it hasn't even officially started yet!
Last week was over 42 inches of snow in less than 4 days, and now we're in the middle of another lake effect storm. Only a few inches today, but supposedly 5-8 overnight, 5-8 tomorrow and 5-8 tomorrow night!:scared1:
And I'm supposed to drive to Buffalo to pick up Sean from college:eek:
It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive and they're covered in snow too:headache:

Since I have lived in the South all of my life, I don't think I would like living where it snowed alot (even though it is pretty to look at). I would not like driving in it. Rose, have a safe drive to Buffalo (and back) to pick up Sean.

How much snow?!?

I was born in Michigan, lived there until I was 10, but I have to agreee, I'm to southern now to enjoy the snow. It's pretty to look at. Visiting it is great. But I don't think I could take driving to work in it. Plus that much snow and I'm strapping a harness on my lab and training him to be a sled dog!

Rose - Have a safe and warm drive :goodvibes

DMMom - Best wishes for your surgery on Friday :goodvibes

GOOD MORNING FELLOW CRUISERS!!

Mike, too cool! We were practically neighbors! Our family had looked at a house on Columbia in North Olmstead when I was about 10, but then they decided to remodel the house and stay in Bay.

DMMom, Steve has had many surgeries on his ear and has very little hearing in his right ear. Good luck with your surgery!! I know what you are going through!

Rose, Be careful and safe travels! Even where I grew up in Cleveland we never got THAT much snow! Wowza! We are expected to get 3-6" tonight. I can about guarentee we won't have school tomorrow.

Did you all see the thread with all the new Dream interior photos? A family in Germany took them and posted them to their German website, then someone on here got permission to load them to his Flicker acct and he is going to repost them on here. Here is the link.... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2614273&page=7 Go to post 96...If I remember right. Enjoy!!!

Michele, I was able to see the pictures last night when they were posted to the Flickr site, but when I tried to show them to my daughter this morning, they were not on the Flickr site anymore. I also tried to go to the disboards thread this morning (and also just now through your link) and that thread is no longer there. Well at least I had a chance to see them one time! She is a beautiful ship!! Getting more and more excited!

Hey everyone,,,, Yes, I made it back. I have now recruited some friends to join us. A mom and daughter from Indianapolis that are friends of my daughter Kristen will be joining us for this cruise. I will see if it is okay if I identify them and also see if I can get them involved in the boards with you guys also. They are REAL newbies to DCL. Hopefully , more shortly. It looks like I will be adding DS Billy and his girlfriend Kathleen shortly if there is space available when we find out if he can go.

GOOD MORNING FELLOW CRUISERS!!

DMMom, praying that everything is going well today!!

Tammy, I am surprised they disappeared. Maybe it had to do with a confict with TheDis? I hope they get them back!

Well, it's been a wintery week for us! No school on Monday, 2 hour delay on Tuesday, regular day on Wednesday, no school again on Thursday and today, Friday! Usually, we get this kind of weather in January, not December! We have about 6" on the ground...the bulk of that came Midnight Weds/Thurs to 2pm yesterday. With flurries all weekend and another potential for snow on Monday! Looks like we'll have a white Christmas this year!

Looks like the stomach bug has hit our house! Connor just got up and is sick! He wouldn't have gone to school anyway! Sheesh!! Have a great day ya'll!!!
