Disney Dream July 4, 2012

I don't know what the exchange is as this is my first time on the cruise. Can you explain it as I am sure my daughter and I would participate if we know :)

Not too many places to scuba here. So he just has to wait until the water is warm enough here. Likely with our hectic spring and early summer schedule he won't be able to get it done until August. Though I am looking into the option of having it done while we are on the cruise. Just might not happen, there might not be enough time. Its fine - we cruise at least once a year - so maybe in time for the next cruise.

We are definitely getting more excited about the trip! We leave June 29 for WDW pre cruise.

Anyone traveling with teens? My daugher is 15 and a freshman in high school - anyone else bringing along similar aged kids?

My daughter is 14 and a freshman in high school. She will be going on the cruise with me :)

Hi Tearsa! Welcome abord!

I'm the one organizing the exchange for the group. Think of the FE exchange as Secret Santa, but Disneyfied. For a more descriptive answer, here is a post from earlier in this thread:

Technically, registration for the group closed on Friday. But I have a feeling that if you were to decide that you wanted to participate within the next few days, we might be able to squeeze you in. Let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the board. sorry ur SO is not going to join u on this trip.. too many adults dont realize that the disney boat rides have a ton of stuff for the over im all grown up now gang.. does he know that the first stop in nassau has the atlantis resort on its excursion list and it features one of the best casinos in the carib? maybe next time.

55 days to go

Great. Hopefully they get to meet. We always have a better cruise when she can find a group of kids to hang out with! We love spending time with her, but she doesn't love it.

I think Disney is great whether you love Disney or not but to each their own, right? At least you still get to go! He wil be missing out!

55 days til we cruise!!!!!!

I just read about it and yes, if it is ok for Mikayla and I to join we would love to :) Please let me know what info you need from me, etc :)

I am so excited

Thanks for the welcome! I tried bribing my hubby with Atlantis, but, unfortunately they don't have a poker room. We went on two Carnival cruises in the past few weeks and went to Atlantis again each time. We don't mind the other games, but poker is our favorite and they don't have it :( Oh well, I know Mik and I will have a good time and maybe we can convince him to go next time :)

I have read in other disboard cruise discussions about groups meeting while on the ship. Is anyone planning on doing that for this group?

Tearsa, I've added you to the FE exchange! As far as I know, no one has set up a meeting for the group yet.

Meeting at 3pm day of boarding? Everyone wear beads so we can find each other. Not sure on a location since this is our first time on board. Any thoughts?

Hi all, since this is the first Disney cruise for my daughter and I, I was hoping to get some advice on things that are a "must see" or secrets that we don't want to miss out on. Does anyone have any they want to share?

Thanks,
Tearsa

my second try at this

A meet and greet the day we board sounds great. one thing to consider is according to a nov 2011 navigator life boat drill is at 4pm. wonder if a 3pm meet would give us enuf time. tgreen u sugg that those of us on this thread wear beads for easy ident of the group. wonder if i would look good with beads and if other guys would go along. cari did u check with ur sig other to get his feelings. if the guys in the group are anything like me it's "well if all the other guys do it i guess i will." 48 days to go.
everybody stay healthy
cheers,
ducksquack

My hubby will wear what I tell him! I am talking about those cheap Mardi GRAS beads. Just gives us a way to ID those we are meeting right away. If we met at 3, it would give 45 or so to meet then we could all meet back up somewhere for sailaway. Just an idea. Any opinions are welcome!

We don't have any beads, so I'll bring the DIS lime green Mickey paint chip to identify us. I think 3 PM is fine -- we can go directly to the lifeboat drill from the meet. It looks like a lot of groups meet inside the Vista Cafe on deck 4.

Just wondering if any of you have received your room assignments for the July 4 cruise. I checked yesterday and we had been assigned our room. We booked 11C IGY. We did not receive an upgrade, but were assigned a handicapped accessible room, which we do not require. Overall I am pleased with the assignment. The reviews that I read say that the room is very large and is in a great location. Some reviews state that it is a bit noisy. I was hoping for an upgrade, but no such luck. I was surprised by the early assignment. Have any of you received your assignments. Do you think I might still receive an upgrade or is it a policy once your room is assigned that is your room.

Looking for to the cruise

Sorry for falling off the boards for a for a while. I have some beads. Don't know if Clint will be too keen to wear them, but I will and I'll keep an eye out for others.

As for the question about room assignments. From what I understand, once you get your assignment, you are pretty much set.

Mikayla and I got our assignment and we are in 09B 2512 (as this is my first cruise, it doesn't make sense to me, but hope it will once I am on LOL). For those in the fish extender exchange, this will need to be updated on our spreadsheet as we didn't have our room assignment at the time it was done up.

I am getting so excited and can't wait to meet everyone! Already got our beads LOL

I have updated the spreadsheet with your room number. You can still access it with the original link that I sent out. As far as your room goes, 09B is the category (Deluxe Ocean View) and 2512 is the cabin. Hope that clears things up.

41 dayssssssss!!!

I know a few people have been in Cari's thread about dining rotations, but I wanted to repeat this here for our thread. I called DCL today, and they're now saying that Pirate night is night 3 / sea day, which is different from what we were told previously (that it was night 2 / Nassau). Also, they said that the repeat nights in the same restaurant will be nights 3 and 4, not 2 and 3 as previously mentioned. So, if you've made plans based on any of that, you might want to come up with alternatives. Personally, I'm planning to stay flexible and ask again once we get on board -- I think I'll just come up with plans that work either way!

Just got off phone with cruise planner. he confirmed that dining rotation is this for rotation 3 as previous post indicated. 1st nite enchanted garden, nite 2 royal palace and dress up nites 3 and 4 animators pallet. pirate nite is day three at sea. asked if i should recheck in a few week and he sed may not be a bad idea!

we got our cabin assign right after we paid in full. deck 9 way way back. not even looking for an upgrade.

here is something to consider. i know that there are deck plans avail on line but may be hard to read. may want to consider calling your cruise planner and request a copy of the disney cruise line vacation book. has easier to read deck plans and some other good info. we got ours thru AAA so if ur a member hit them up for one.

one of the many cruise planners i talked to and i have prob talked to all at one time or another sugg outlook loung for possibel meet and greet.

all take care and stay healthy. 39 days and a wake up for us
cheers
