Disney Dream July 4, 2012

Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know that I completed my check-in and activities reservations last night and there were plenty of available reservations. :thumbsup2 Even the Palo brunch had a ton of availability, and I've seen people posting for other 4-day cruises that all the reservations were gone by the 105-day mark. By the way, there's also a high tea in Palo at 3 PM on the sea day. I wasn't expecting the tea and had to juggle my other plans a bit for that day to fit it in, so wanted to mention it so no one else gets surprised! The pirate party is still listed on the website incorrectly as the third night instead of the second, so be forewarned about that too. I'm kind of surprised that hasn't been fixed yet, but oh well.

The first 4-day itinerary B folks get home tomorrow, so I'm hoping they post their navigators fast! :)

Hi there!

I am so excited, this will be our 5th Disney cruise. This will be a special trip for us. We are taking our biggest cruise group yet. My MIL Nancy and FIL Mike are going as well as my DD Sam, 16, our son Noah, 12, and 2 of Sam's friends. Kelly and Brendan ( I think Kelly will be 17 and Brendan will be 18). I can't wait!

Does anyone know if there will be "special" fireworks since we will be leaving July 4th?

Can't wait to get to know everyone. This trip is going to be so nice, we are planning a few days in Disney World prior to leaving for the cruise, just a little rest and relaxation time. I am so looking forward to sitting by the pool with a nice frozen drink in my hand. :yay:

Welcome abord!

I was curious about the 4th of July celebration on the Dream and posted the question to the message boards. It looks like there will not be extra fireworks, but there will be decorations, characters in costume, and a champaign toast to the good ol' USA. Here is the link to the thread with pictures from other people's trips: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2889847

Hope this answers your questions.

One more note: 100 days!!!

We are officially in the double digits!

Guess this will make it into the July 4th Dream forum, Just learned about Disboards and am now a registered member whoopie for me.

Hello! :wave2: Glad to see another member of the group.

:cool1: Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say Heeeeeyyyyyy :-)

Woo-hoo, you got us to page 4 :rotfl: Is it just me, or does it seem like there are fewer people than you'd expect on here for a holiday cruise? I wonder if there are a lot of first timers on this cruise who aren't aware of the disboards.

Yay for page four! Huzzah.

To the families that recently joined -- Let me know if you want in on the Fish Extender gift exchange.

Someone's out there! lol.

I really do think that there are several noobs that are unfamiliar with the boards. It seems like our thread has been slow from the start. Maybe the new ships are attracting lots of new faces and the seasoned DisBoard members are sticking with the classic boats?

85 days...

Oh darn, guess that means we'll have to just live with knowing all the great tips and tricks that they're not learning... oh, the guilt :)

Still waiting on Itinerary B Navigators - I think the next one is April 15. Hopefully they'll post some when they get back. I think I have all my plans settled at this point, but I'd like to see some to be sure I'm not forgetting something.

I know I saw a message from annetria last night, but I'm not seeing it now. Maybe it got eaten in the server upgrades? Anyway, I wanted to say that if you want, let me know which dolphin experience you're interested in doing and I'll check the current availability. At least that way you can know the status now :)

Hey all, don't know if you saw the thread about Palo tea, but it looks like they're eliminating it to offer more brunch slots. According to that thread, it goes away July 22 on the Dream. In other words, if you ever want to experience the tea, make sure to schedule it for this cruise!

The case of the mysterious disappearing messages...

Looks like annetria isn't the only one who was having trouble with the servers. I've been locked out for the past two days. :-/

This is my second try getting on this board. Hope i have better luck this time. Any way time is flying will be on board the dream early on the 4th. Leaving Maryland a day early and will chill in cocoa beach for a day. Our crew consists of me, dear wife granny, nurse becky and suoper 7yr grandson. He was wondering if any other kids in his age group will be sailing with us.
Regards to all on this board. Stay well
cheers,
Ducks Quck

If you look back at the first page, it looks like one family has a six-year-old daughter and another has a six-year-old son. Not sure how narrow your grandson's definition of his age group is, but it looks like you've got at least a couple of kids around his age :)

Hi all!!! We will be joining all of you for this summer break!

I am traveling with my hubby and 15 year old daughter (she will be 15 1/2 on this cruise)

We live in Omaha, Nebraska, and though we are landlocked - are avid cruisers (mostly RCL) This is my 2nd Disney cruise - the first on the Wonder back in 2001. We will be spending 5 days at WDW prior to the cruise and are looking forward to the huge activity of WDW, and relaxing on the ship after!

Ducks Quack, Tgreencreatemem,

Glad to see both of you have come over to the dark side☺

And what is the Fish Extender thing? Not familiar with that?

The FE exchange is a tradition that goes back almost 10 years. Your “Fish” is mounted outside your stateroom door. It’s used to hold notes and forms from Cast Members. Think of it as your mailbox at sea.

Years ago, Disboard members began leaving little notes and gifts for each other. Eventually, the gifts started getting bigger and people needed something to accommodate this. Thus, the Fish Extender was born.

A Fish Extender is a bag that hangs from your Fish. It can be a simple bag or have multiple pockets – one for each of the members your party. Most people decorate and customize their FE's prior to the cruise. If you are feeling crafty, here is a no sew tutorial for making a Fish Extender: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609

Gifts come in all shapes and sizes. You can choose to deliver one gift per person or one gift per cabin. Lots of people like to give something that reflects their home states (think BBQ sauce from Texas or maple syrup from Vermont). If you are looking for inspiration, this link has several years’ worth of homemade gifts:

Here is the link to our group. If you are interested in joining, this is where you will find all the information you need: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=44134283

FE's are just another way to add a little more magic to your cruise. The group is open for a few more weeks and it would be great to add a few more families!

Sorry about the novel, hopefully it won’t disappear on this board ;-)

Yeah, I'm finally back! I've been locked out of the DIS boards...thought I may have had to make another logon, but I guess it's working. Anyways, I think we want to do the Atlantis Dolphin Excursion...I think we can book in 4 days...yippee!

Thanks for the Fish Extender info. I had my daughter googling that last night and it sounds like a fun addition to the cruise. But thanks for the extra info.

Can't wait until Friday when we can start making reservations!
