Disney Dream Doesn't Have Solid Whitewall Verandahs?!?

Sorry....I see what you're saying. Now that they're painted white, they just look different. I wish we could see underneath the plastic. I enlarged the picture, and I think I can just barely (maybe) see railings....
I apoligize!
But....what would it be.....waist level to a taller person...that it's still solid? I'm short, so if I'm in a chair back there, I won't be able to see the ocean. I'd have to stand, just like I do on the other ships. So technically, to me, that's a solid-wall verandah.

lol… well no. because from the first picture I posted, the railings were not solid like those on the Magic and Wonder… instead, they're regular lined railings with plexiglass…

So I'm not sure what there now under the plastic; if they did weld on solid slabs to make it a solid whitewall verandah or not.

Looks to me like you'll at least have a little shade/cover out there.

I can't figure out which level it is.
Is it the lowest one that you can barely see then there's the scaffolding/building there on the right?

If so, I think you're right. :)

If you look at deck 10 (on the picture listed above a few posts), the deck that is right above the last plasic covered deck, you can see a railing attached to the top of solid portion. Deck 10 is the top most deck where there are staterooms.

I'm going to take a wild stab at it, and say that those earlier railings seen in the picture on the first post were for the safety of the people working onboard.
My question is whether or not they'll have the wood railing on top of the metal.

I actually just barely understood this post. The walls DO only go high up as high as the bottom of the portholes, but remember that thenportholes on the Disney dream IS larger than those on the Magic and Wonder, so they'll prolly be placed lower on the wall then near the waist. They'll probably going to be as low asto the middle of the thighs, the knees, or the middle of the calves. Since this is so, that mean they'll need railing, which it what the railings in the first pictures are for. :goodvibes

but look at the solid wall where the railings are attatched. they're only as thick as thos solid sections on the lower deck... which means my pp would also apply to deck 10 aft.

In reading the threads, not sure if you all agree there are solid walls or not LOL :goodvibes
We are in 6B cabins 6190 and 6192, and booked "knowing/thinking" solid walls but would be nice surprise if they weren't.
Thanks.

Agree'd. We are going to be in 5180 from the looks of it. I can wish for a clear wall but in reality, I dont care too much. Its our first Disney cruise and I am just happy to be onboard! :cool1:

I see exactly what you're saying. It does appear that all the very AFT verandah staterooms have the same railing. I'm not seeing any white walls either.

Go to the DCL website and click on the last video, it will give you a preview of the AFT part of the ship.

i can't find the videos :confused3

I have a VERY HUGE hunch that it's not a whitewall… but there's no verdict until the float-out! lol… which is 18 days away! :goodvibes

thanks! i went ahead and had our TA change us to a higher category that would guarantee plexiglass. It wasn't but $70 more total. peace of mind is worth that!

I'm not doubting anymore! This picture says it all! :goodvibes

Wooo Hoooooo!!!!!!!! Now I just have to wait a year for our families turn to sail, Booo!

Ok see that but how do we know that is a deck with rooms and not a promonade deck like deck 4 currently on the Wonder and Magic
What I see is a few portholes which means these are not verandah rooms

Thanks for the GREAT picture!
Let me ask you this, do you think Deck 6 has obstructed balcony since Mickey and the Dream sign block the railing?
Either way, we booked two connecting aft 6Bs with our points so will be there July 2011

True, but the same white rails shows on the far right of the 1st posted picture of this thread. So chances are pretty good that it might NOT be a solid white wall like the other Disney ships. Either way its better than sitting at home. :cool1:

The Mickey/Dream sign is on the area of deck 3 and 4 aft which do not have rooms at the aft of the ship. The first set of white railings above the sign is deck 5 aft.
