Disney Dream come True 8/28/2011

This is our second cruise, so I have to admit that I scoured the boards wondering what the Castaway Club Gift would be.... and TADAH! there it is!

You guys are the best...

We are planning a precruise trip to Disney and I'm addicted to finding out how in the heck we will use the Dining Plan.

I hear alot of Dis-ers are strategic on this. Any ideas/recommendations?

Oh, and any advice between the Allstar Music vs. Pop Century?

Last but not least, is it worth it to get a premium room for $140
(near the transportation/food court)?

Again thanks for the pics... we're getting excited!

Hi Elizabeth!

I am very happy I could help with the photos and I am very happy to answer any questions about your resorts and DDP.

DDP - which one will you buy? Quick service, Basic DDP or Deluxe DDP?
Which ever you decide, go to the food section of the boards - there is a whole thread of food photos, so you can see what you are going to get - even better - go to the food reviews in my signature! ;) YES, I AM one of those planners! :lmao:
Best thing to do is, go to allears.net and have a look at the menus.

You CAN access August hours already - I have done MY planning and am set to book those ADRs. (Go to the calendar - pick July and at the very bottom are very light grey numbers - pick any - they are for August and then click next day).

As for Pop and All Stars - we have stayed at both. Pop is newer and it does NOT share a bus. Very important if you use Disney transport.
A preferred room will get you very close to the main building and food court. This would especially be helpful if you get the resort mugs and don't want to hike to the food court for your morning coffee.
The resorts are HUGE.

And I just checked the Disney site - POP IS available - I checked the discounted room offer! :thumbsup2

Any more questions - fire away!

Cool! I can't wait to get my gift!

We are doing a pre cruise stay at Pop Century (8/23 - 8/28). We love Pop!

Regarding a standard room vs a preferred room, I like a preferred room because it's closer to the food court and the bus stops. If you have a car you probably don't need to spend the extra money on a preferred room.

I booked the free dining deal :cool1:. I haven't started planning our ADRs because the August park hours have not been posted. Once the August park hours are released next month I can figure out which parks we will visit each day. Then I can figure out our ADRs.

I've done the dining plan twice. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

we are planning a precruise trip to the world too. i asked my ta to book the rooms for us...and our first choice was POP...but i was told there was no availability!! guess we are gonna be staying at sports this trip. we've never stayed at that one, and my boys were itching to stay there.

There IS availability at Pop, if you want to stay there - maybe you were looking for a special promotion?
I just checked - there is availability the whole week before the cruise! Look it up on the Disney site! TA aren't always helpful!

Yea!! What would I do without my DIS family =)

I should be planning for writing class tomorrow (I'm a teacher), but instead... I am going to spend a little time now taking a look at the calender and figuring that out.

Can we start reserving dining?? I'm going for the basic dining plan? It's our first time around and heard that the deluxe is a bit too much. Any thoughts?

Okay, love you all... off I go to the Disney abyss :cool1:

Hey Dizneeat-

Very sneaky of you to figure that out... it's a little pain, but it will give me just the extra heads-up for planning... NICE!

Take care,
Elizabeth

We'll be joining you for sail-away on the 28th! (Jen, Adam, Ethan (ds 6) and Rowan (dd 3). Can't wait, have been really enjoying seeing all of the pictures of the Dream. Is there still room for the FE?

Hi Jen-
My 7 year old Eidan will love hanging out with Ethan... he he even has a big brother named Ethan =)

Welcome aboard!

Hi!

Welcome!

Could it be we sailed on the same cruise last summer?

Hi Karin! Yes we did! Glad to be sailing with you and Tom again:) Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi All-

Just wondering if any of you are DVC members. We have made multiple trips to Disney, bought one on the last cruise, then cancelled it when we got home.

I'm rethinking it, cuz, I know it will hit us again, this trip.

Any suggestions?

Let me know,
Elizabeth

I know why you have the word "eat" in your Name... HAH! I spent about two hours last night just reading your dining reviews.

Food for the soul... and not to mention for the eyes. :worship::worship:

Thank U Thank U for the pics! Love the water bottles there might be a fight over those :) We are at Disney POR starting on the 20th I think pre sailing and thinking of doing POP 1 day post or 2 day's not sure yet. I'm planning on making my ADR's as soon as my day mark comes up cannot wait. Funny, I do the opposite I make my ADR's then decide where we will go that day.

Hi All-

Just wanted to let you know first hand... the snow has hit Chicago.

The funniest thing is that as a Chicago Public School teacher, I really did plan on getting to work bright and early tomorrow. Knee deep in snow or not... It's almost a miracle that they actually announced tomorrow to be a snow day.

Here's to looking forward to the hot August sun.

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Were DVC members, and bought our first contract on a cruise in 2007 and love it so much we since added another. The incentives are usually pretty good on the ships.

We just recently booked our stay before our b2b cruise at the Fort Wilderness. We have rented a cabin for 4 days which should be a blast!

Oh, I agree...August! Can't wait. Our school had its first snow day in 7 or 8 years! Hard to believe! Kids are happy:) As for me...I'm thinking white sands, turquoise waters and heat!
