Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Hi Everyone.
Where do the people in Michigan live? We live in the Upper Peninsula.
I have great news. Recieved our cruise documents with an unexpected surprise. We were upgraded. :cool1: Never have been upgraded before. We went from deck 2 oceanview to deck 8 balcony. Love, love the upgrade. It is a corner room on the back of the ship. It is room 8682. So excited. Not I need to change the room on the fish extender list.
Can't wait to see everyone. Hope all is well. Still cold and snowy here.

great upgrade! I never even looked at my tags!!!

We been signed up for this trip since Nov of 09 the day you could make the reservation. Just decided to get on the forum and found 51 pages of talk just about this sailing. Realy cool. We're another Michigan Family with my wife and 3 kids, DS(10) DD(8) and DS(6) I'm sure we'll run into many Michiganers on the cruise. I didn't read all the pages but what is every one doing for the day at Nassau? We're going to swim with the Dolphins in the cay, not at PI

pirate: Welcome to the DISboards...and to our crew! pirate:

Another family from Michigan! Wow! :yay: The entire state of Michigan must be on Spring Break for our week...It is really rare to have so many people from the exact same state. Anyhow...

Not sure how long you have been on the DISboards...or have been just reading them...but there are a few things that you might want to consider...

-You can sign-up on this thread for something called an FE exchange...short for Fish Extender exchange. Long story out on main threads...but what it is is a sort of reverse Trick-or-Treating thing. We hang FE's outside of our cabin doors...and other people who have signed-up for the FE exchange deliver items for our families. If you want more info...ask fast...because our sign-up ends tonight at 10PM...due to the fact that it does take some planning. Right now we have 20+ families participating...

-We will have a DISmeets on the first day. We do not have an exact location yet...(We have been waiting to see what the first Dream cruisers were doing and what worked)...but it should be sometime before the muster drill. More info. to come...

-We will be going on a Mango Rum Run for our Nassau Day at 10AM. It's not a run...but a walk into Nassau for some rum and some shopping. Very quick for some...because they have excursions booked...could be longer for others...who do not have excursions booked. Again...ask any questions...this Mango Rum thing occurred last winter...:upsidedow

Yes, some of us have been on here since we booked back in 2009. Seems like a long time ago! We have two families that got to meet each other back in August at WDW. We have many Michigan families that have meet together a few times. Lot's of good friendships...and lot's of great people!

Is this your first Disney Cruise? Sounds like if you booked back in Nov. 09 that you knew what you were doing...so maybe not? :rolleyes1 We will just be doing the Mango Rum Run at Nassau. We wanted to do Atlantis again...but the price is crazy right now.

Ask if you have any questions...I can add you all to our first page...a few names helps out...and I'll put another "Michigan" out there!

Again, welcome! :dance3:

pirate: disneytraceyl - Wow! What a great upgrade!!! I know that you all are extremely excited! :woohoo:

pirate: kikids - I hear you about those FE gifts!!! :goodvibes

pirate: DISmeets Information - Please, please...if anyone reads anything about a DISmeets location on the new ship...let us all know. I was pondering this...and now having the two "Sail-Away" parties...that could really put a wrench in things...So if any info. comes out...let us know...We still have a few weeks! :goodvibes (Boy is it great to say that!)

pirate: Lines at the Port - :scared1: Have you all been following some of these threads? Some are getting to the port at 10:45 and not boarding until way later! Again, if someone gets a tip on this one...let us know...there are only about 150+ of us...we won't mess the line up that bad!

This is our 1st Disney cruise, well I went on the Big Red Boat as a kid but that don't really count. We defently aren't disney virgins. we have been to the parks/campground 9 times in the past 12 years.

I hadn't seen that! Yikes, I am worried about it, but was hoping the off-site check in and the arrival times would help

Add us to having a GREAT time also! It was a fun night and can't wait for our cruise to get here! Thanks Cindy for Hosting!

Hi FE participants. I will be emailing out a final list tonight or tomorrow at the latest. We had a few last minute changes so it's currently a work in progress.
Cindy

OK so I found the thread about boarding times and O-M-G!!!!!!! Did you see the pictures of the terminal? How is that even up to fire codes? I have been in rave clubs less crowded than that (ok not recently btw). I am not sure what to do, right now we're on the 10:30 "party" bus. Maybe we shoudl arrive earlier, I am not sure?

I am kind of wondering that myself :( I know my Mom will not do well if she has to stand around in crowds like that for hours. It also looks like there isn't much room in the terminal for us to all hang out together while we are waiting.

Is there seating somewhere? It looks like all those people are standing and waiting? If there are seats, I can just take a cab and get to the terminal before 10:00 (Mom will be fine, as long as she can sit down once we get checked in). But I sure can't see her standing around for 3 hours. Ugh..

It looks like it will be hard to arrange our meet on the first day if people are going to be delayed until right before the muster drill even getting on the boat. Then with the two sail away parties, first show at 5:00, etc...yikes

Would it be better to have our official meet at 9:00 am on Day 2 (then those doing the Mango Rum Run can just leave from there)?

I hope those boarding issues settle down. :scared1:
We are due to get to the port early for us which will be about 11:30. In the past we have always walked on. I hope I will not regret my decision to book that towncar from WDW at 10:30.

I sure can't wait to get out of this nasty Indiana weather.

Hello All!

Today seems to be a banner day. We finally get to say that we are sailing on the Dream "Next Month!!" :cool1::cool1:

I received my cruise documents for the first cruise yesterday (another Woo Hoo)!!

Then I just checked my bank account and saw that both of my tax returns showed up this morning (even bigger woo hoo, LOL).

Our family of 4 has been sharing one old desktop computer and it is starting to crash on us (I have my work laptop too, but I can't put my personal stuff on it or let the kids use it). So I ordered a new desktop for our desk at home and I'm getting ready to order a new laptop. WOO HOO - I'm so excited that I will be able to check in with the DIS from my living room now :cool1:

Then I guess I had better do the responsible thing and put the rest in the savings acounts...you know, in case I need it for a deposit on another cruise or something :rotfl2:

Yesterday, I received the cruise docs (luggage tags and booklet) for both our B2B cruises on 4/3 and 4/7.

We received cruise documents today! :cool1: No surprises, everything looked right.

I haven't officially signed the online contract form yet. Does anyone know if you can change your port arrival time after you've completely finished and signed the online forms? Right now we have the 12-1230 arrival time but I'm hearing about people arriving at 2 and just walking right on. As much I like that free onboard lunch and more time on the boat, I'm wondering if arriving later is better this time.

Crystal, I like the idea previously suggesting of having a dis meet on nassau morning before the rum run versus trying to organize something around the drill. ???

Cindy

:cool1::cool1: Only 30 more sleeps until we leave for our trip! :cool1::cool1:

We received our documents today also! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is having a great :yay: week!! We still don't have our cruise documents!!! :scared1: I am trying to not FREAK OUT ....if we don't have them by next Monday :rolleyes1, I'll have to call DCL. We have sailed before and had our docs way before now.

The FE is ordered and we will get it before the 30th  I'm also having pillow cases made for the kids :dance3: I'm not sure of everyones "user name" yet, but was asked the ages of our kids. We are the Thomas Family from Lake Orion, Mi. we have DD (15), DS (9), & DD (4).

We would really like to meet up at "Pink." I'll be looking on the board for the time table :) Can't wait to meet this "pirate:" Dream Crew"

34 days!!! I better get the :laundy: finished and all packed :wizard: Still working on magnets, onto gift ideas next week :cheer2:

Heidi

Happy Tuesday Evening , tomorrow is hump day...coast to the weekend from there

:cheer2: Gotta love the excitement! :cheer2:

I just spent the past two hours working on organizing FE stuff! The more I do at home - the less I have to do on the ship! ;)

Yes, I am beginning to think that a DISmeet on the morning of Nassau would be best. :thumbsup2 Arrival day is getting way too confusing...:upsidedow The one thing that I like to do on Nassau day is to go to the front of the ship...(It used to be right where the sports court is)...and watch as the ship pulls in. Mickey Mouse usually makes an appearance...Great photos! So we are supposed to port at 9:30AM...What time and where do you all want to meet prior to getting into Nassau? Ideas...thoughts...:rolleyes1

54disneyfun - You have done so much in such a short amount of time...FE ordered...with pillow cases...:cool2: Your kids will love the signed pillow cases!

jetskigrl - You guys are hooked to cruising...Already planning that third cruise...with the tax money! Great idea!!! :yay: My next suggestion...if you want warm and beautiful ocean...it's the western Caribbean! I love Grand Cayman and Cozumel...beautiful...beautiful...beautiful! :goodvibes

Hey - A big thanks to Cindy (kikids) for putting together the FE exchange! The chart is awesome and the map with the Mickey heads...If you haven't checked your email yet...do so! :woohoo:
